13 Weeks to RPS Rawdawg Nats: Herder's PUUUGHE Comeback

Awesome...

For an outfit with a string section, they really bring the noise. Lol. Seriously. Progressive/metal covering classical, that's some boss level stuff.

I saw them at the Palace in Auburn Hills once. I was supposed to see them at the Verizon center this year, but I missed out on the good seats so I didn't bother.

I was way up high and far from the stage. Still loved it.

You mentioned feeling shocked by the weight. That's how I felt today when I took my warm ups (400/450) and my first two attempts. For the final my body was finally like, oh yeah, we can do this...

It's weird, isn't it? Just the CNS not being tuned up. It comes back quickly, though. It felt like an eon to finish my first pull at 475. Checked the last weeks efforts, huge difference. I would have tried to sumo pull ~485 but I was so cold I didn't want my left hamstring rolling up like a window shade.

I don't wanna talk about the game, thanks for asking.

So today was a break a sweat day that got carried away. Feel fine, feel tuned up.

Deadlift
245xseveral. Basically two clusters of singles that went until I got out of breath from getting and holding my air repeatedly.

Bench
245x3x5 reactive slingshot CG, comp grip, max legal

Skwat
245 full gear x5
245 nekkid x5
245 pause x3/regular x3

GM (nekkid)
245x5x2

No Hands Front Squat 245x1

Wanted to test my arm on the bench after all the squatting. That went well. This is the part where I got carried away. Hit 245 without the slingshot, went up to 315, smoked a single and then did this:

Invalid Link Removed

That was a 100lb plate, a 35, and a 25 on each side.

Call me crazy but aren't you supposed to wait and PR at the meet ;)

I know, I know. I'm a dick. Felt good and I said the hell with it. Wasn't that hard, didn't lose my groove, didn't hurt, I don't feel eff'd up. And as you could tell by the post-lift commentary, that was far longer than I expected to pause.

Great job brother!!!!!

Nice PR, but looked like ass came off?

Nice press and pause man.

You're elbows were swimming a good bit though, what's up with that? Did you notice during the press?

NomZ I dunno if my whole ass came off or not. I see what you saw now, though.
CountryLiftin Yeah, definitely noticed it. I'm happy I kept my elbows in until I slowed/stopped. I wasn't tight enough. Such is life with a heavy weight.

I don't blame ya. You're probably just stabilizing when you slowed down and the elbows came out. I just wondered if you noticed it at all during the rep haha. Usually they feel like butter then you watch and it's like a facepalm. Typical max effort kinda thing I guess. I couldn't tell if you came the whole way off either. eh

Oh yeah, usually I throw the elbows out quick, but that's not ideal because if you slow down with the elbows out, you're hosed. Definitely wasn't butter. That was the first challenging single I've taken in awhile. But not ballz out just yet.

Okay guys, here's my cutting plan for the week.

Drop all carbs starting tomorrow.

Water and sodium load Tuesday Wednesday Thursday. Two gallons water each day, salt all meals.

Glycogen depletion training sessions on Tuesday Wednesday Thursday. Five sets of 8 with ~30% 1RM on deadlift, squat, bench respectively. Isolation movements light and nontaxing following comp movements.

Thursday at 11pm take magnesium citrate.

Friday starts the fast, start taking MHP Xpel at 10am, take a dose every three hours until a few hours before bed. Cut off water at noon. 2oz water allowed each time I piss.

Friday night if I'm not still on weight I either hit the sauna, turn the bathroom of the place I'm staying into a steam room, or do the epsom salt bath. 10min in, 2min out until I'm on weight. Eat a couple ice cubes if I get overheated, stay in the sauna until I'm within a pound of making weight. No gutting my chew on Friday, all spitting.

Saturday morning, wake up at 9am to check weight, depending on what I weigh, I'll use one of the three techniques above to get my weight where it needs to be.

Weigh in at 11.

Take Immodium AD, drink 32oz of diluted gatorade, eat at the Waffle House where I have four drinks, water, gatorade, Coke, and apple juice. 16oz diluted Gatorade every hour. Take a nap, get another couple meals in me, catch a pump and a sweat sometime in the afternoon to drive the nutrients and water into my muscles, make sure my bloat doesn't go subcutaneous.

Sleep.

Crush weights.

LOL re chewing. I should of known. Yet another reason I dig you dude, lol. Long time chewer here, though I've laid off since fracturing a few teeth over the last 4 years, requiring major dental work.

Sounds like a sound protocol. Impressed and ready to watch and learn. Will you be taking the credit card to open the pores?

Hahahaha. Yep, wrestling got me into it, the nicotine kept me going. I've quit for ~1 month on two separate occasions. Only takes one long drive or some boredom to start the vicious cycle all over again.

Ah, an experienced sauna goer, I see. Absolutely if I go steam room or sauna, it's very important to get that cooling sweat off of your body to keep the sweat train going.

How much weight are you cutting?

Why Imodium? Why would you want to not ****? I don't get it. Help me out here herder.

How much weight are you cutting?

Weight is 238.5 right now on my heavy scale. It's about 2-3lbs heavy. More accurate scale is at my dad's house, I'll be picking that up tomorrow or the next day and taking it with me on the trip. Calculating in that I usually (like 300 days out of the year) float 2lbs while sleeping and the scale being 2lbs heavy, that would put my wakeup at 234.5.

18lbs up is an 8% reduction in bodyweight. Right at the upper limit of what I'd like to do.

Immodium is after weigh ins. If you go a whole week without carbs and have a quart of gatorade, 10g of creatine monohydrate, sausage, bacon, and some pancakes, you're going to paint the porcelain throne brown about once an hour, on the hour. It's what I did last meet, took me 10 hours before I could hold anything in my body, and that was after an 8lb cut.

Smart.

Good luck phatty.

Well this thread was filled with awesomeness last night!

I miss lip candy

Quitters never win, Dude

And winners never quit!

Weight 233.5 this morning (heavy scale). Epic float is epic.

Guys, check out the interview with Pavel on the main page. Some damn good stuff. I was thinking about trying to get kettlebells involved to pull a mini-Donnie Thompson and add some serious mass and strength wherever kettlebells do that sort of thing.

I like the plan. Time to implement it and profit. ;)

Feels like I've pissed over a gallon today. I hit the water pretty hard today already 3/4 of a gallon, tomorrow I hit it even harder. The likelihood of me getting any manner of work done at the rate I'll be pissing is quite low.

Gal and about a quarter done for me. I'm taking beer pisses today.

Reminds me of when I was training hard and on a CMH, and had to submit to a 24-hour urine collection to assess catecholamines. I was at work, and had to keep the container refrigerated, lol. I did keep it in the brown bag. Anyhow, I filled the container after 18 hours.

One week later, my doctor advised me that Quest didn't get enough urine to run the test. Clearly, they mishandled the container. And thus, I had to do it all again. Boy did I read them the riot act, as it was a hyooge inconvenience, particularly when voiding in the middle of the night. Filled the phucker in 15 hours the second time. I think it was around 3.5 liters, not ample for a serious water drinker running creatine.

Just had a change in plans. We're lifting in sessions, and I'm in the late session. As such, my weigh in will be at 5pm on Saturday instead of 11am.

Fast and water cutoff will now be Friday night instead of Friday morning. Magnesium citrate will still be administered 36 hours out, though likely a little less, as I'm not waking up at 5 to drink some stuff that's gonna have me up shïtting all morning.

I'll still try to get that pump and sweat on Saturday night, but we'll see what we can do. This is a minor change in plans, my replenishment will have to come while handling two lifters.

Youre dialed in, man.

Thanks guys. Haven't been in full on weight cutting mode in years. It's intense, mentally challenging, and consumes every minute of every day. The key is not to worry. Stress = Water retention.

Just took Mom through the paces on Stronglifts 5x5. The absolute simplest barbell program out there.

I had her foam roll and couch stretch and whatnot because she "can't" squat to depth. Boggles my mind. There are no movement faults, but when I tell her to sink lower, she says she can't. This is about 3-4" high. So I tricked the old bag and had her box squat 1-2" below parallel, which she has no problem doing. O.o that's alright though. We'll have her free squatting to depth in no time. Bench was pretty good. My only cues are spread and break the bar, and she grooved it pretty good for a first time barbell bencher.

Yeah, this is some cool shyt. Can't wait to see the results...

I don't mean to brag, but daddy (me) is going to see it unfold live. I may or may not have a pint of whiskey on hand.

Don't judge, this is finals week..
