10 weeks to APF TX State

Good showing, man. Definitely could see you were worn down on the third pull. Now let's go total ELITE.

You get your legs wide as hell on those pulls! Awesome work!

Did you SEE his Jack brief squat? The collars and monolift are in his way! Btw, after correcting my patterning last night, collar-to-collar pulls are the way to go.

****! Did not catch that the first time through. Dat dere flexability

Good lookin, man. Did you double up ammonia caps on that last pull?
No, I was trying to set the straps and pull my shoulders back. I've noticed that my thoracic has been tighter than usual and I haven't been retracting as hard on pulls, which is probably why I feel like I've been going forward lately.

Makes sense. So what are your goals once you get back into training again?

First, get my work capacity up again, which I'll be using block again for this, and drop some of this extra fat I put on for this meet. I'm debating about dropping to 198 and I'll make that decision by mid-June. I think the scale at my gym is wrong because I was floating around between 225-230 the week prior to the meet and I weighed in at 220 for this after eating twice on the way to the venue and having Taco Bell for dinner. I already decided that I would just weigh in and not try to make 220, but I weighed 221 in full clothes when I got there and then made weight after taking off my hat and shirt. Cutting weight isn't anything new to me, but I'd like to make it a small cut (7-9lbs) instead of a monster one. After this last one, I really doubt I'd be any more lethargic from cutting weight as I did from the small amount of sleep that I got.

The next meet is August 3rd in Houston and I've already made lodging arrangements (my grandma lives about 40 minutes away from the venue) for this one. I know that my squat is better right now than I showed and I realized that I using more of a GM than a proper squat unrack, which is why I felt so off balance. I actually did better than I expected on bench and the bad unracks probably held me back from getting a higher number. However, I'm going to be looking to really hit extra lat and triceps work to keep the shirt tight even if I drop some weight. For deads, I've been at a bit of a plateau and need extra grip strength. I'll probably be using extra elevated pulls to overload the top end and grip work.

Well, you know I'll be following. I'm always stealing ideas from your log so I appreciate it man. Looking forward to seeing you hit Elite.

I've already decided to drop to 198. Tired of worrying about making weight for work and I'm hoping I can just stay steady around 205 for a while and build my strength up and only worry about a few lbs like you said. Ive bought single ply everything in size 34 (still contemplating when to switch) but thatll motivate me to stay in a weight range. Pretty sure my scale at home was off by a couple lbs as well.

I'm going to get back to the gym today and will get a new log going, too.

You look amazing!!!

You look amazing!!!

Thanks ;)

I had a very rough session today, fellas. I hit my opener in full gear (barely), but that wasn't the bad part. While I was looking at the video, I noticed that my right knee came in and I was going over everything in my head. While mimicking the squat motion that I did in the video, my right knee, once again, slightly dislocated. There was a slight pop in the joint and I immediately collapsed onto the ground. It's too early to assess the potential damage to the knee, but, unless it's really bad, I'm still doing the meet. I will not be doing any lower body work until the meet and I probably won't be taking my warm-up bench on Friday since there is a lot of torque on my knee from my style of benching.

I'm not going to lie: I'm pretty shaken up and my confidence is even lower going into this meet.

That sounds terrible, hopefully it heals up soon enough for you to go.

Worth mentioning, it's a good thing all of the guys following your new log are in this one as well. (This is your old log lol)

**** man..

This happend before right? I remember something being up with your knee in the past. Would any strengthening exercises outside of unilateral work benefit it?

He's mentioned it before, although I can't remember what exactly is wrong with it either...
