Is there really a big difference health-wise (Liver? Kidneys? Detox?) if one were to consume PURE water vs Sugar Free Drinks like Powerade and/or Crystal Light and/or BCAA drink mixes?
I often wondered the same thing about diet coke or zero coke....hey its water, but it has some artificial flavorings and carbonation and sometimes caffeine. I drink some G2 as well, which is essentially water with minimal carbs in it....I'm curious about this subject too.
I always drink only pure water or decaf tea aside from my intrawo BCAA shake
Most likely the difference is negligible with some drinks or crystal light, I use to
drink 1 can of sugar free redbull on my day off, and while the profile is flawless
it just didn't feel right.. Probably just my paranoia but with water can't really go wrong
Artificial sweetners, fillers and other additives. Look up the metabolic reactions of each and you'll find your difference. Some would say it's enough to warrant one over the other, some not so much.
I love diet Dr. Pepper more than anyone...but damn it makes me carry more water than I want..
I've drank alot of those "flavored water" (bottled and packet mixes) and found it be tasty and beneficial in terms of keeping me from going insane. Drinking straight up water all day just cramps my style... Occasionally I'll mix a little intra or teeny tiny bit of pre for flavoring
Interesting enough I drink a lot of the Great Value Propel knock off drink powders. 10 cals, and ingredients don't have maltodextrin. When you said that I went and looked at the ingredient make up on the drink packets. Now the flavored GV ones that are crystal light knock offs do have it in them.

Yes -- never trust the ingredient labels and how they translate into the nutrition facts -- they do some serious "rounding off" that is simply not accurate.
