    Here and back again

I am planning to using this as a combination of a lifting log and a personal journal. It may last, it may not but I just had a urge to come back. Just planning to play it by ear.

    Here and back again

Hello everyone! Long time no see. I started logging on this site in 2012 before my senior year of high school football. I found a great deal of advice and encouragement. I spent two years actively participating here. However during undergrad, I took a step away. I continued my training but...

    Is this too drastic?

There is a good review from Roger Collier in 2016 that supports the use of fasting for weight loss. However, it should be noted that you still have to have a minimum level of key nutrients for successful long term survival. This is why long term fasted animals ( mainly mice) have higher...

    Is this too drastic?

I'm speaking as a molecular biologist. There is a diverse spectrum of pathways throughout your body that requires either at starting point or through intermediates molecules derived from carbohydrates and fats. Therefore, there is a baseline minimum you need to be a proper functioning organism...

Should i cut or bulk? not sure what to do

I say spend the next few months eating a small surplus and do a trusted program ( Ex. Stronglifts 5 x5). This will allow you to develop a strong foundation that is "worth" cutting down to!

Can you BECOME a morning person?

The best advice I can give is make sure you're getting enough sleep. If you're up at 6 am, it'll be best that you're asleep by 10 pm. It's a transition but it's more than worth it. Secondly, what worked for me was getting up as soon as my alarm went off (I placed my iPad that I use for my alarm...

    Yoga?

I love yoga. Back in undergrad, a couple buddies and myself would go to the morning yoga sessions before class on Tuesdays and Thursday's. Now, I just YouTube a video a few times a week. It's great both physically and mentally. I recommend it to anyone that can fit 15-45 min in a few times a week!

    Favorite way to record workouts

Hello everyone. Since I was 13 years old, I have used a Five-star college rule 5 inch notebook to record my workouts. I have started considering moving to an app since I lost one of my notebooks that had a year worth of lifts in it when sometime stole my lifting bag and, since I have been biking...

Best stack for a 22 year old

Hello everyone! I have a question regarding what stack would you recommend a 22 year old with a hypothetical budget of $150. Here is a background. I have been training pretty hard since high school. I am 5ft 8in, 190 lbs, my body fat 13-15%. I am running MadCows stronglifts 5 x 5. My goals...

    Spotify Premium vs Apple Music

I would recommend Spotify especially if you have multiple devices. Sometime I would be playing music out of my laptop when hanging out with friends. I can control the application from my phone if I didn't want to move across everyone. Also, if you have a .edu email it's cheaper!

    Sleepless Nights. Need Help

One thing that may help is not using your phone or laptop for at least an hour before bed. Try reading or meditating. Our bodies have regulations (think epigenetic) that respond to light intensity. You can impact your sleep cycle if you're unlucky!
