Fruit for thought, many people's back pain, especially thoracic, is often due to weak INNER abdominal muscles. This is not always cured by the normal ab work like situps and crunches.
I second the overhead pressing. Really it's imparative to have it in order to maintain healthy shoulders. I'm an absolute stickler when it comes to shoulder work simply because an injured shoulder is incredibly debilitating.
Also, sticking to 5x5 will eventually not be sufficient. I would...
I second this book. I was hit by 2 IED'S on deployment and compressed my L3/L4. It was suggested that I get surgery, but I opted out, worked with a therapist, read this book (among several others) implemented everything that I could, and now I'm good to go and have been for some time. I do...
I understand. I'm in nursing school and we have been taught that many places in the body don't really require it. But i guess it couldn't hurt. As far as the blood goes while removing the needle, that's simply from capillaries. Everywhere you're going to inject has them. No way around that.
No I dont. There really is no need to aspirate the sites I normally pin as they are only superficially vascular. I made the mistake of hitting a superficial vein because I was rushed and pinned a little too distal on the muscle.
That's what I figured. I was initially a little worried. But after thinking about it for a couple minutes, I stopped worrying. No more than getting blood drawn from a bad phlebotomist if you think about it.
Stupid gf ruining my pinning ritual!!
Yea I injected. I didn't know it went through the vein until I pulled it out. It was just like every other pin before. Except it was a nice run of blood after I pulled it instead of a dot of blood lol
So I pinned yesterday evening and think I went straight through a vein. My gf was staying the night, so I pinned in the restroom while I was "showering". I usually have a pretty strict ritual as to how I do it. Last night I was a little rushed though. I pinned my left thigh into the vastus...
Madcow 5x5. Also, don't worry about the cable machines, the dumbells, the smith machine or really anything other than the barbell. Learn the main lifts, do them well, keep doing them.
Just remember that percentages will change as the blocks or pins go up in height. So don't use your 1rm from the floor for everything. You may be able to get away with adding 10#'s per 6" or so. Unless you're like me. My block pull is lower than my full pull. No damn clue why. But it is.
Training for houston's strongest man and today I trained the yoke carry for the first time. The event will be a 575 pound yoke for 75'. Today I worked up to a couple reps of 500. Which is my squat max. Just looking for feedback/tips that any of you may have.
Here's the video

I think that Leemans "prom" method is basically just normal deadlift programing that has you pulling from blocks that slowly add more and more rom. You could probably follow the rep scheme and percentages of any dl programming but do it from blocks. Every week or so, just lower the blocks.
