    Ask a Biochemist anything!

This is a good question that I love to answer. I won't make an example of you though because you legitimately want to know. I'm going to answer this in a long drawn out way to make sure you get something out of it. Because in a forum like this, a simple yes or no doesn't really mean ****. So...

    What is/was your Major?

In reality, that's how it is in most schools now. Bio now has such a strong influence with Molecular bio it's hard to get away from. You now have to purposefully get a degree that avoids it (like ecology) to not have molecular biology heavily influence the curriculum in a biology degree.

Nitrates: Good for pumps Bad for Thyroid?

I'd still like to see something that isn't in a baby animal; and some sort of mechanism behind it. Also, I'm not geared to buy into something from the indian journal of physiology...

For the sake of the thread, you might as well re-post em! Or at least give the link to the post(s) on the previous thread?

Nitrates: Good for pumps Bad for Thyroid?

There can be several 'fates' of nitrates. 1.Nitrate --> Nitrite (by bacteria in the gut) 2. Nitrate--> intestinal absporption --> bloodstream There will be the eventual reduction into nitric oxide of either compound. Excess Nitric oxide promotes hypertrophy of the thyroid tissue because it...

    3/4in. Pin for delts?

The lower the body fat the better. Also the lower shot volume the better. 2ml in the delt with a 3/4 pin probably won't work...

    Shiny/oily look for contest

In the two shows I've competed in (and won) I used Pam of all things. You don't need to rub it (and possibly mess up tan) and it can be evenly applied. Although shinyness is no replacement for veins in your glutes ;)

    ZMA

You will get a net increase in testosterone if you are lacking any of the main ingredients. Otherwise, if you already have normal levels of them getting extra won't change anything. On a side-note it gave me funky dreams :)

How often do natural BB's sneak in a little GH?

I really can't see any value (monetarily) in being a natural competitor in anything. ESPECIALLY bodybuilding. If you want glory? Fine. But even still, the glorification of a natural champion is not as appreciated as the freaks.

How often do natural BB's sneak in a little GH?

There is little, if any recognition in any 'tested' sport anywhere. Even in the olympics, you never really ever hear the names again outside of when the games are on... Using drugs to win in a tested sport is silly because even if you win in a tested sport the spoils don't even exist! Also...

new to chemicals trying to learn more

Good luck with that in your garage in any appreciable yield :-p. Unfortunately any strong oxidizing/reducing agents are notoriously promiscuous and the ones that aren't don't have the greatest yields. I'll leave the chemistry up to my body.:09:

Not a chance. It takes a very strong oxidizing agent to attack that alcohol. And even so, you'd have side reactions that would result in a Dione as well. It would take legitimate chemistry in (relatively) low yields and a large pain in the ass. Don't try it at home :)

The enone is key to binding to the androgen receptor. This is why it's not a "pro" hormone. Orally active steroids are alkylated at the 17 position to inhibit liver breakdown (ring D) The "pro" hormone shown needs to be metabolized first, that Alcohol attached to C-3 needs to be oxidized, in...
