Red Light Therapy

Supposedly the red light is actually beneficial for eyesight as well. It definitely throws off my colors for a few minutes but then it seems fine.

I've heard that as well. My understanding is that RLT exposure will create a systemic response (positive for all mitochondria) and of course targeted areas will get the most benefit. So I've been focused on the knee, and then the torso, with the assumption that "everything else" will get benefits as well, just maybe like 10%. So far I honestly think its true. I haven't really come up with a great way to make sure it's a common treatment but at least having it turned on in the morning is a reasonable endeavor.

The reviews on my H300 are really impressive. "treatment guidelines" suggest 6-18" distance. so when I was hyper focused on the knee I held it very close, but having it propped up on the counter in the bathroom in the morning it seems pretty reasonable to keep it turned on with 18" of me while I'm getting ready.

Interested to see which ones people like and if anyone has tried any of the sleeve ones you wrap over shoulder or around leg.

If you're thinking about giving it a try for your injuries from the wreck i can tell you that this one I'm using is so strong I swear I can see the redlight on the other side of my knee. I did read that they can shine redlight at you and detect in on the other side of your body. it's not too hard to set it up for the knee/leg but this might be a harder solution for your shoulder.

the issue is always balancing useful with budget right? they have those bigger full body ones that get really pricey

this one is almost 5 ft tall

or potentially just using a stand (I bet you could get one on amazon for $50) for a unit like mine could work for your shoulder.

Thanks. I wish I could try that one, but it is way out of the budget range at the moment.

I use my Viconor foot one from Amazon on my feet, shoulder, elbow and knee today haha….Though I think I am overdoing it. Most places I have read says to do it for 15-20 minutes, 6-18” away but the user manual says 30 minutes. Been using the lowest setting being that it’s day 2. Gonna figure out a rotation but my feet will be 5 days a week.

My wife’s Viconor just came in today. Gonna set that up for her tonight.

If we like it, I would love to get a nice name brand full body next Black Friday.

In the least weird way possible, I'd love to hear all about the progress with your feet 😂. Mine always hurt

I didn't even know those existed
dude they even have baseball hat one now. lol I'm almost tempted but I like my Hooga

I am new to this study and supplementation but my unit has a timer preset for either 5, 10, or 15 minutes. I'm hesitant to do it longer than that since many people won't even hit it 2x per day for a week. my gut instinct tells me that your best solution is going to be very consistent use in shorter spans. Life tells me that even very good things can be overdosed....

The placebo is strong with this one....Or it works...I ran up my stairs yesterday which doesn't happen.

Ya I backed down to 20 minute sessions on level 2 out of 5.

Got a special 25% off new years code for my onlyfeet account. Real kinky **** in there.

I don't have much else to report on mine. I've been setting it up about 6" or less from my knee every morning during coffee the past week on Christmas break. now that we are back to early work mornings I have it on the counter top facing my torso while doing my tooth brushing, contacts, etc in the morning. I was running 15 minutes on the knee, this morning I did 5 on the knee, took a shower, then the 10 on the counter top.

I woke up in the middle of the night with my knee popping like crazy. I was a bit in dissarray, I had a weird nightmare/dream, felt wide awake at midnight and my ear was a big clogged/congested. I had this thought/vision "what if I broke my knee cap????" I took a couple melatonin, a decongestant, a lot of water, went back to bed. My knee seems 10x better today. still nowhere near 100% but I wonder if all the crackle and pop I felt in the middle of the night was just scar tissue breaking up cause I didn't have any this morning and stairs weren't nearly as daunting.

overall though again, no SAD. energy level seems up, mood is positive despite the time of year.

I'm still using my H300 daily and loving it. Today got a random email from Iconic detailing a lot of surface level RLT stuff:

I am at 8 weeks of religous RLT use in the mornings. the only time I don't get my 15 minutes might be Sat or Sun, but I still try to grab some while brushing my teeth.

I feel like I initially saw it help reduce swelling and pain in my knee, I don't do targeted knee anymore because I don't think about it, but I probably should/could. instead I do abs area while getting ready for work in the morning.

I'm waking up before my alarm, feeling energized and refreshed
my hair seems thicker and healthier.
my face/skin has cleared up a lot, not 100% but far better
my vision feels a tiny bit sharper even though I'm 43 and my last dr visit suggested it was a bit worse finally for the first time in 20 years
my libido is way up, although I am also on epiandro.

I captured my conversation with AI breaking down my regiment in my log for anyone interested.
But as of right now, I stand by my assessment of the value of the H300 by Hooga.

FWIW

Just left eye Dr and she said my eyes have improved since my last visit.

I told my wife I felt like my vision had improved some since using RLT and it seems like it has.

In 2024 the Dr wanted to up my Rx and I said no (lol)

Today she said not necessary. She said my near sight and slight astigmatism had improved as well.

So it could be anything but the only thing in my life that's changed in two years is the RLT

Well there you go, I definitely noticed improved eyesight doing 3 mins every morning upon waking for a few weeks.

What did the dr say about it, were they a bit confused or was it within normal range of increase/decrease?

From an age perspective I'm right on the cusp. I first got glasses at age 12. didn't wear them though until about age 16-18 when I started driving. I had a stronger rx when I was about age 19-20 and 242lbs (peak weight), when I cut weight back sub 200, my vision improved drastically. I've had that adjusted, milder RX for 20+ years. But now I'm 43 so I told her I would like to do annual exams instead of every 2 years since next year, age 44, is the typical swing in all health markers, with the next one being in my 60s. I want to see how my eyes go.

She said my far sightedness ( ability to read supplement labels) improved some in my one eye (cool!) and overall is very good.

General consensus from her was that my eyes are very healthy (regardless of age), its possible that I'm slowing age a tiny bit, and they definitely improved a small amount in the last 2 years since she went from recommending the higher rx to, not recommending it.

She also told me her parents have a sauna with redlight they swear by, so she's a believer. she's 30 and had a major eye surgery herself for poor vision and I asked if she does any additional supplementation for vision and she said no, which I thought was interesting coming from an eye dr.

Especially since I know Joe Rogan pushes the Pure Macular Support Formula but it's very expensive in my opinion, like $107/month so I don't want to get that if it's not worth it.

Not for nothing... but it's not uncommon for farsightedness to improve as you age. Mine has, as well as my "avg" health buddy.

I've gone back and forth a little bit over the past 23 years. The first time my vision improved substantially coincided with a 60lb weight loss, this time I haven't had any change in weight (195 in march of 2024, 185-190 of march 2026), so it could be coincidental natural aging just ping ponging, but I have felt a number of other benefits from RLT (I also believe in the placebo effect and like it), but she did also say my astigmatism had improved dramatically. so its possible it has nothing to do with the RLT, or everything, or a mix, lol. But either way the RLT is an easy little life hack since I just turn it on while I"m getting ready in the morning so it doesn't cost me any thing in terms of time commitments.

hey if nothing else, it makes me think I'm healthier and you can trick the brain into some crazy stuff!

I've heard that it has a positive effect on eye health. I'm not sure how much noticeable improvement there would be, but I think in studies it has shown to help. It also makes since because it really is just supercharging all the cells it hits so why not also help with eyes?

there are a ton of studies on it.
anectodally, what I can say is I don't really know anyone who uses RLT as religiously as I have the past 4 months. one thing I have read over and over is that you HAVE to have consistent use and that it takes months to see results. The majority of the people who I know that have tried it and not seen results do not use it consistently and did not use it for the minimum 2 months where results are expected.

the one lucky coincidence is that I always use mine in the morning, and apparently RLT in the morning is supposed to have a great impact on vision, thats just a lucky coincidence for me, I didn't know that when I started.

I know that anytime I've used mine for an injury it really seems to help within a week or so. I notice it over time in my skin/face health. I saw a test increase from about total 600 to 660 after starting using it but that could be other factors too. I think in a few years gyms will add full RLT beds, chiropractic/alt med offices will add them, spas will advertise them hard, and people will start adding big panels to their bathrooms. As they get more popular hopefully pricing will come down because I'd love to have a big panel for full body exposure.

Totally agree, I'd love to rig the full body panel up in my bathroom but right now $200 was more than enough to "experiment" on the much smaller HG300 unit we got, still, I think we are seeing positive results!

Too late. Already places around me offering that as a rehab solution. Of course businesses who often cater to pushing unproven things for marginal benefits are going to adopt it (they can just move it into the rooms for whichever recent fad they need to drop for now).

This is just the general side effect of lay people not understanding how to interpret research (and the layers or hierarchy of it) and "science" communicators (science used loosely) always needing to feel they are on the cutting edge.

I don't care enough to follow every field, but there is some preliminary research in recovery/rehab scenarios. Of course considering how poor the care or the following of the more basics that need to be achieved first it doesn't make a ton of sense for most people based on the current state of what we know.

I would probably partially agree. I think in a physical therapy office in conjunction with other recovery methods it could speed recovery. I think every college athletic department will have a few again for recovery. I think the average person could see skin health benefits as well. What would be a waste is someone using it for physique goals once a week while eating trash and barely working out which I admit is a large portion of the population.

Ya I am not disagreeing, but having actually worked with these kinds of places most of the people in them have way larger stones they need to turn over before reaching for something like this.

I don't doubt colleges will use them too, they also tend to dive head first into anything with even a slight chance to "help".

At least (unless I am mistaken) these kinds of things don't seem to have any major downsides though so outside of financial losses there won't really be major issues (which other things in the past may have had depending on use).

One of the things that cracks me up about the bigger push for "light" treatment in Humans is that we have known for a very long time the positive and negative impacts of quality lighting on basically every single organism on earth. Anyone that has ever grown plants, crops, raised chickens, or fish or corals knows they can't survive without proper lighting. And we also know that periods of darkness are equally as important.

NOW, science is understanding more in depth to as why quality light matters. Hubberman talks about it profusely. He's really big on getting 30minutes of sunrise and 30minutes of sunset in without protective lenses for this reason.

The studies continue to find new benefits, the mitochondrial health, neurotransmitter support, hormonal balancing in both men and women (in all chapters of life), improved sexual function, etc etc.

But it always cracks me up cause at the end of the day its just common sense.

Up here in Seattle the one form of lighting that is also considered huge which I haven't took part in is standard bright light. Seattle is considered the 2nd gloomiest city in the nation, WA the 3rd worst for seasonal effective disorder. RLT is a strong support in these areas for this region, and I think people in Arizona/TX might not see the same results in certain areas of life where sunlight is more abundant.

In a perfect world I'd likely use both but I haven't decided how/where I'd want to setup the bright light yet, but I can say without a shadow of a doubt standard RLT has definitely helped with cleaner energy during the dark winter months, its been bizzare almost.

Not to mention all the other potential health benefits still being explored.

I hope this red light therapy is not another health fad - it doesn’t seem to be… it’s just that they tout it as a cure-for-all, and I’m always skeptical of something that does it all. I’m sure it helps some things more than others. I was interested in it for hair regrowth so I don’t have to microneedle my scalp (I’m vain like that) to prevent (more) hair loss. I didn’t even think about using it for injuries, which I have. They are pretty expensive though, for an experiment, and it wouldn’t be the first time I bought some expensive gadget and used it 2 times then back in the box for eternity. I wonder if this red light would have helped my ex with her vagin that hang like sleeve of wizard to tighten it up a bit? I’ll send her a link if I find one that works.

I see it the same way I see 10,000 steps. "get light" is sorta arbitrary. but so is "move more". but my ancestors 100 years ago didn't sit at a desk all day and they lived into their 90s not knowing the **** we know today. but their day to day life included a lot more sunlight and movement naturally. all RLT is, in my mind, is an early morning life hack to get that light into my system.

na just wrap it around like a scarf on your neck and you good bro

My take on it so far isn't that we need RLT, but that its a supplement for lifestyles that don't give enough light exposure naturally. Thats why I sorta doubt someone like @MrKleen73 down in Texas would benefit as much from RLT as someone up in the PNW like me, despite us both having largely corporate/office jobs.

Still interesting, as I get more info I'll keep dropping it for my own benefit and anyone else whos' interested.

Imagine if we could access funding to have full body RLT panels at work and just on tea breaks got have a coffee or eat a snack getting super powered light... I honestly think it would improve productivity so much... like general feelings better, more energy, better skin (so happier again etc)

This just reminds me how sad it is to be poor. When will I win the lotto?

Hello all, I'm going to join you on the red light craze! Took delivery of a Hooga a few days ago and starting off slowly following Dustins thoughts above, 3 mins Red Light only full blast every day - extra 3 mins NIR only on the bald patch. Tbh I'm 49, it's got it's work cut out, but for 6 mins a day it's worth a shot

tbf, sunlight is free if you go outside. not sure your work schedule but Hubberman talks a lot about sunrise and sunset light spectrum. What region are you in? I definitely think northern climates like mine (PNW) benefit more from redlight than those in sunnier areas. When we got home from Vacation Monday I went back to my RLT morning therapy to stay on top of it.

I was developing a thin spot on the crown and I felt like my widows peak was becoming more pronounced. I wasn't sure I could pull off the Jude Law look. I blamed most of my thinning on epiandro and tongkat, two supplements that I didn't want to stop taking, but both I would find more hair in my hands.

I use a rosemary tincture on my scalp, and foaming minoxidil from costco (which of course, I do recognize is not natural so I take it with some risk) along with my RLT and i'll tell you the thinning is gone. seems fine now? I saw pics of myself from behind from this past week and my hair looked thicker to me..

My vision has improved since red light as well! I no longer need glasses driving at night. Glad to hear you guys confirm.

I use a (gym/spa) bed 2x+ a month for full body/mitochondrial, an at home panel daily on my face and during my AM shower, ambient red light at night past 7pm and a head mounted wearable EOD for hair health and to prevent hair loss. I have seen results from all enough to be happy to continue to invest.
Namely: anti-aging, Skin health, immune health ( sickness prevention especially respiratory ) lower inflammation, and enhanced, pumps, energy and recovery.

Currently experimenting with Methylene Blue before the bed sessions as there is some science that suggests enhanced benefits.

thats awesome dude, I would say that my benefits have been basically the same. improved energy in the winter, improved vision (proven by dr), skin seems better, hair is improved (although I mentioned my other regiments as well), and a month ago when my son and wife both went down HARD with the flu, I never got sick AT ALL. My wife was really really sick too. her cough lasted like 2 weeks+ after being sick nearly 2 weeks.

Smart man! Ya I'll put the red light on my face and chest if I feel like I'm fighting something in hopes it penetrates and kills the cold.

supposedly there are studies showing ED improvement and test boost by shining it directly on your balls too but I haven't explored those options yet lol. I'm not sure how to even rig the light to get a nice chode shine.

Same bro, same. Maybe one of the handheld ones stuffed into pants while watching tv. I'm hoping my twice a month on the red light bed does the trick.

Cheers Dustin, just got some rosemary tincture, and combining that with micro-needling. Going to have to be strategic with the rosemary, it has a very strong smell!

I'm shocked how long it lasts, when I bought it and told my wife so she could use it too, i didn't think it would last a month, ours is a few months old already and I add a bit to the scalp every morning post shower. between that and a little of the foaming minox I don't dont even need to add any kinda gel or anything.

I'm going to give Minoxodil one last go - the last two efforts it's made my 'ed well itchy! But, I did buy 3 months supply, so we'll go again, maybe the rosemary will calm the itching in some way.

p.s. May be totally a placebo, but I definitley feel less injured in the ~two weeks that the hooga has been in operation!

FWIW the girl who cuts my hair last night to only rub the rosemary in for 10-20 minutes max, she said doing it in the morning and washing out at night can clog the pores

Do y'all think I am too late for hair regrowth? LMFAO!!!! My wife already told me, even if I could magically have my full head of hair back she would still want me bald. So I am with the right woman eh!!!
