    There were two periods yesterday when I couldn't get to this website because the database was being rebuilt (according to the error message).

    If that's because a lot of people hit the board in a short time period, there isn't much you can do about it except upgrade the system you're using or its bandwidth. Your web guy should know where the bottlenecks are. (If the problem is bandwidth and getting some fixed files moved someplace...
