need cell phone help

If anyyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. If I bought a cheap cell phone like a GO-phone and tried to put my AT&T sim card/chip into it would it work with or for my AT&T service/network. I just need phone and voicemail, nothing else. Any ideas if this would work or has anyone ever tried it. My AT&T/cingluar phone went swimming. Any other ideas on cheap cell phone options would be ok too until I renew my plan.

Yep, it'll work, I gotta a lotta friends who have been doing that very thing with their cing/at&t sims...
