Title says it all. Sok signs for 4 fights and Filho will fight Doerksen for the belt on Aug. 5.

There are also rumors that Fedor is close to signing with the UFC....we'll have to see about that.

I cannot wait until Fedor comes to the UFC. I would like to see Nog and CC get built up a little bit more before Fedor destroys them again, though.

That's a waste of Sok. He could make some noise in the UFC.

I want to see Fedor in the cage, but they do need to build all of these guys up first, and match them against UFC HWs before going to rematches.

Who does EliteXC have at LHW? They should at least scoop up Texeira, so Sokoudjou can have a chance at redemption.

Strikeforce, I'm thinking. I wouldn't mind seeing Southworth get manhandled by the predator. Soku:thumbsup: , I believe used to participate in Judo at around 250, maybe he could move to HW for a few, and fight Antonio Silva(damn I bring that guy up alot). I guess that would fit better in the fantasy thread. Who knows, maybe Elite/Strikeforce will snatch up someone like Vitor, he would make a nice fight for Sokoudjou.

In terms of other possibly free agents right now, maybe Overeem, Nakamura, Melvin M. at 205 again? Vitor is a decent fight, too. Didn't Vitor refuse to sign his Cage Rage contract?

Soku's only like 5'10" which seems a little too short for HW and 5'10" 250 (man, what a tank he must been) seems a little too robust to have good cardio and be light on his feet.

Those are some nice thoughts. Overeem, I would think, would have a damn good chance against Soku, and that could really revive his career. Naka would be good, judo vs judo. Manhoef should pretty much quit training his strikes, get with ATT or something, and learn the damn ground. What a machine that guy is, though even in the stand up he leaves himself pretty open, and Soku's got cinderblocks.

Here it is, match of the century: cinderblock vs. wrecking ball hands, Sokuodju vs. Igor.

Or since I don't the "Ukraine Freighttrain" is coming out retirement, maybe give him Cyborg for fun.

I like the Vitor idea much better than the others plus it will give the fight more name recognition.

Another EliteXC signing according to Trigg himself :

Trigg said that he has signed a 4 fight deal with EXC. The 1st fight on his contract will be September 1st and he will face Murilo "Ninja" Rua in a 5 round Title Fight.

I wish all the good fighters were in the UFC but at the same time I am glad all these good fighters are signing with EliteXC. Maybe Dana White will quit paying no name douche bags $4,000 to fight on a PPV card and actually pay for some real fighters. If he wants it to be the premier MMA organization in the world, he will have to pay his fighters accordingly.

I sort of agree, but I like that there is an alternative and I'd like to see a bunch of these B+/A- level fighters who are good but probably can't compete for the UFC title. Like at 185, a league of Shamrock, Ninja, Joey V., Trigg, Lawler, Mayhem, the Crow,...., but not guys like Filho or Linland who are A level.

I agree. Trigg/Lawler comes to mind. But having Sokodojou in EliteXC is sad. His talent (or luck?) is just going to waste. Fighters like him should be in the UFC for sure. Let the Lebens and all the guys you mentioned fight it out in EliteXC.

Sokoudjou is getting $150,000 to show and $50,000 to win from EliteXC according to Dave Meltzer from the Wrestling
observer.

That's crazy for as few fights as he has.
