I met this guy in Vegas, talked to him for a few minutes, he has a really strange energy about him, it was very similar to the energy feel/perception I got from a Tibetian Monk once.
I wonder how much longer he's going to live, he's doing some risky stuff.

He has a show on A&E called Mindfreak.
He's a big Vegas magician. For a while he was at the Aladdin, but now he's at the Luxor. I hope he's there next time I go to Vegas. Missed him last time.
Oh and the pulling the lady into two pieces was easy. That was two people. On top was a woman with no legs. On the bottom was a midget/dwarf/little person. if you notice she wore a long skirt. Likely the person holding the legs was also a schill in that stunt.
I've figured out a bunch of his tricks, but there are still a whole lot that I'm like "WTF?!"

I haven't figured out many, but he's still good. It's all part of the schtick, the actors and what not. I don't begrudge him that. At most it makes me sad because, the more fake magic you see, the more you realize real magic doesn't exist.

I dunno, I like figuring it out. Makes me feel like I'm in some kind of exclusive secret club if you will.
My favorite stuff though are the smaller tricks that are prestidigitation or using lesser known scientific principles. I really like the one where he lights a lightbulb with his fingers. Hehe, the old battery in the pocket trick; using his own body to conduct the electricity.

im osrry i know its not chris angel but its still on topic.. sorda.. anyone seen "the prestige?" christian bale first off is a crazy good actor and that movie is just tight with great twists! if you havnt seen it the Go rent it tonight, i promise you wont be dissapointed.

To twisty for me. I figured out what they where doing about 30min before the end... just didn't want to think it would take that route. To out there for a movie that was for the most part fairly grounded.
Now the Illusionist is a fine movie(not to mention Jessical Beal is hot).

What I didn't like about the Illusionist is that the magic tricks were all
1) clearly CGI
2) clearly impossible
Whereas in the Prestige, the tricks are more realistic. Obviously except for that one, but rather than be magic it is explained as some kind of freaky machine which operates on fairly unknown scientific principles.
But I do agree about Jessica Biel. She is fantastically hot.

Ok anybody catch the latest episode of Mindfreak that just aired?
The steamroller bit was obvious how he did it. But the one trick I just can't wrap my brain around is the levitation trick. He clearly doesn't use any kind of crane or anything because you can see there's nothing even remotely like that anywhere in the area when he goes to the golf course. But that's really the only thing I can think of that could do that.

No clue. I jsut can't figure out a way he could have done it.
As for the steamroller, bit here are a few things:
1) only the glass at the rim of the cloth was real glass, the rest was safety glass. He had blood on him at the end because if you press hard enough, even safety glass can cut you.
2) The cloth laid down on the pavement was covering up a hole. Yep, they drilled a ditch into the concrete. Likely they put one of those memory foam pads or something down. It's also possible they installed some kind of mechanical lift that lowered itself in sections as the steam roller rolled over him.
The reason why I'm absolutely positive about point number 2 is because they didn't lift up the cloth afterwards. Usually the first thing they do in those tricks, if they didn't do something like that, is lift up the cloth to show you the pavement underneath was fully intact. Additionally, you could actually see the where the cloth had folded inward from being lowered down.
The levitation tricks though I haven't the foggiest idea.
Anyway, did any of you catch the escape trick he did in the following episode? It said he received a serious neck injury and spent like 2 weeks in the hospital or something crazy like that. He also said he will never again do an escape stunt like that ever.
He almost friggin died and that was NOT fake. He got out so late he was probably knocked silly by the concussive blast from the explosion. People in the crowd and his road crew flipped because they could feel the blast from over two hundred feet away while Chris was just 10 feet from it if that. If it wasn't for the suit he was wearing he probably would have had tons of burns too.

Chris Angel if fraken amazing. I still can't figure out his levitation tricks - where he levitates himself or others. I still haven't figured out the walk on water thing...
Aw heck, I can't even figure out how he makes things like that hummer with chicks appear and disappear under the blanket - and I think other magicians do that one too...
When I see Chris Angel, I think back to when I was a kid playing Dungeons and Dragons. If an illusionist made an illusion, and your character "believed" it was real (rolled dice, etc) - then it could harm you, even if the character knew it was just an illusionist creating it. I always had a hard time understanding that until now.
I KNOW magic doesn't exist, and Chris just creates illusions. BUT - his illusions are so good - I get lost in the moment and believe them. That is an amazing feeling - just like when you were a naive kid and the whole world was full of possibilities, lol.
And there had better have been some way Chris was breathing under water in that hot tub when he was tied to a chair by Dog the Bounty Hunter. I think not fully escaping (and therefore failing) was one of the smartest things he could do - it just made everything else more believable.
Null - if you know anymore secrets on how he does things, I'd love to know. I'm going to have to read up on the light/battery trick.

People forget that the human body conducts electricity pretty well and that all you need to do to draw power from a battery is connect the two sides to conductive material. If you take a powerful enough battery, lick your fingers, touch the leads, and then grab a lightbulb, you'll conduct electricity from the battery into the light bulb and bingo it lights up. Might want to make sure first though that the power source you are using is VERY low amperage though. VERY low. It doesn't take much amperage through your heart to kill you.
As for the trick with Dog the Bounty Hunter, I wouldn't be surprised if he really can hold his breath for that long. That's something you can train to do. The world record is like 8 minutes or something IIRC.
When I went on a cruise in the Bahamas, there was a Vegas magician onboard named Charles Bach (sp?). The guy was chained up poolside on the ship, and they tossed him into the water. We could very very clearly see him in the water the whole time while he was escaping from the chains and straight jacket. It was easy to see he had no oxygen source. It took him about 3 and a half minutes to escape IIRC, and he seemed a little out of breath, but not too bad.

My guess on the Luxor levitation trick is that the helicopters were projecting some type of hologram beams.
Holograms work by crossing two image reflection to create a multi- plane image. One helicopter would have a live projection of Chriss Angel and another would have the interruption beam.
I am planning to duplicate that trick soon :icon_lol:

The Luxor I can imagine might be a clear platform raising up from the center for him to stand on. Or possibly even some kind of clear pole to prop him up on forcing him to balance carefully.
He couldn't do anything like that though on the golf course.
