canada shipping increase?!

i gotta repost, hopefully stryder can reply:::

but wait... bb.com offers canada post... i just put in some retain and shipping was only 5.99... can you guys do that??? fitfuel also has a canadapost option which came out to 6.99... now i wouldnt buy from these places but these may be viable options for nutraplanet...

seems like a lot of us canadians are upset... which is good because we love NP

They probably have a distribution center in canada, cause thats the only way they would use canada post.

no i emailed them! They said they ship from the USA, and my tracking will only work once the package enters canada!! I think they got something going on there, cause like i said fitfuel does this too... my latest package shipped from Idaho (cissus Rx) and shipping was 5.99.

I really hope all the canadian people on this forum will chime in here, cuase nutraplanet is awesome but if you gotta spend 20-25 bucks PER order to ship, thats cray... and its not like you can buy optimum whey or anything cause then shipping is 50-80...

So we are paying 20-25 dollars extra on things as small as retain...

very interesting that would be okay for smaller orders.
I see shipping jumps up to about $14/$19 with more than 3 items in the cart so it would be just about same price as ordering from nutraplanet especially if they have a discount code still.

I tend to make orders that are around 10lbs so I could be in trouble with these rate increases. I might have to make one big order half as often as I used to. I'm sure NP will find a way to ship the small orders consisting of a bottle or two for a reasonable price.

that is what we need... orders under 1kg or whatever need to be 5-7 $ for shipping... bigger orders will definitly be more expensive. When i started this thread that was my intention, i dont want to buy a bottle of retain for 25$ and pay 18$ shipping, thats crazy... but 25+5-7 is reasonable...

Honestly us canadian get shafted on product tester logs, shipping, contests, you name it!!

I must say AX's team has been great about contests here on AM as I have been lucky to win some 3AD and MassFx

Atleast our dollar was on the rise for a bit there so exchange rate wasn't to bad.

Our doallar hit the highest its been since 1972 a few day ago... .92c ish

I would def like to save some shipping costs as this is the only thing that prevents more money flowing to nutra.

man we got 3 pages of canadians saying it costs too much! I love it, canadians unite! haha... no we need cheaper option for small packages, thats all...

hmm...this Canada Post is a mystery to me. Sure would like to see how we can make this an option at the PLANET. Anyone with some answers please chime in. Also, from anyone's experience, do you pay taxes up front with these other sites? I really want to find the best option that is a win-win for everyone. Suggestion please!

no from my experience no taxes...
as far as canada post option, i guess you .........edit. But i know they definitly do it from within the states (idaho)...

I've had to pay taxes before, but my last order from BB.com was over a year ago. Their orders always seem to get flagged by canada customs and I found they end up holding them in customs for a week or two far too often. I've never had one order from NP stay in customs for more than 2 days.

Not Canada Post, but True Protein uses UPS Ground for Canada but charges taxes and brokerage fees upfront. The shipping isn't cheap (partially because they ship from California?) but atleast the purchaser doesn't get shafted by UPS upon delivery.

Could be an option to consider.

.....Usually a value of ~30 bucks and below and it isn't charged at all....along with keeping the description vague and the size small though...

....trueprotein has some shipping thing going on as mentioned above..first i've heard of it and i've yet to order from them but it seems like they are confident in backing it up....

....a true fix would be to get Canadian distributer...or even an individual in Canada whom you could trust and they'd willing to offer reliable service to Canadians in Canada....then regular ole Canada Post would get anywhere in Canada within a week or less really.... actually such deal was done some time ago by another supplement company....and the feedback has been great...

Actually perhaps they do this reminds me because when I made a BB.com buy the box came from Toronto / Mississauga. It had a Mississauga address on it but maybe this was just the distribution center or cargo area from once the package gets off the plane.

UPS is bad choice, they love to put brokerage and customs on parcels. Even if the taxes end up being $14, they'll charge a looking fee of $15-30.

So USPS is still the most economical. So far all my shipments from NP (2 in total) have been tax free.

USPS is no help at all! Their only response is...this is all we offer and there is nothing that can be done about it.

Looks like these are the only options for international shipments for USPS:

...AND to top it off, they are raising the rates even more for dimensions. The larger the box the more it costs. It is starting to become a real pain in the *** shipping with USPS and becoming costly for both us and the recipients! :rasp:

stryder: what about small orders like 1 or 2 bottles, could you use a plastic envelope thing?? I know IBE does this... and islandsupps.... maybe you could too for small orders. In canada i like ordering $80 of stuff frequently because it = less customs and border issues than a big box

Are there other options other than USPS and FedEx? It's possible that the Canada Post option BB.com is offering won't be available soon (or it will cost more) with the changes to USPS because I believe it was USPS that handled the package until it reached Canada.

As for trueprotein, yes they do take on all taxes/duties, so the customer doesn't see any of these when they receive their package. I just checked and the shipping is 11.61CAD for 1lb and 12.43CAD for 2lbs. I think this is more than reasonable and it usually only takes 6 business days to get your package.

Yeah the shipping starts high and increases by less than a canadian dollar per extra pound and .All the customs and duties have been taken care of and we never get hit by customs. I can vouch for the shipping as I have tried it quite a few times with small and large orders of my custom blends

What about USPS Priority Mail International Flat Rate Box (6 - 10 Days)): $37.75 , it`s up to 20 lbs worldwide shipping

Here is flat rate options for usps I know large items won't fit but many smaller bottles of pills will fit inside one.

It's kinda funny i was thinking the same thing.

But what is interesting i can ship from canada to the usa
cheaper than shipping within canada itself. The post office said it it because they don't offer a small parcel/packet rate within canada. Every thing i send within canada is a minimum of 10 and thats something very light and small. To the usa it is about half that amount. That is dumb.

:type: Please note that's one FU for you.... :study:

yeah i have done 8 shipments in the last 3 months and all tax free.

:type: and another FU.....for you....:study: rant:

Guess I'm paying all y'all mf'n taxes b!atches :)

Oh and if someone wants to make a business deal / arrangement within Ontario, Mississauga ( pearson airport )or Toronto area let me know, I would like to help Nutra in any way shape or form. I could possibly have my wife work part time on a daily basis with orders as she is looking for work ( office admin / accountant ). You could mass ship up here and have us repackage / sort / send the orders for you. Let me know, pm or email.

Pretty much anything to stop teh tax and save on shipping for your customers.

P.s plastic tough envelopes ftw.

This proves that envelopes would surely be the better way to go for smaller orders. Even if the order needs to be split into 2 envelopes, that would still allow for a decent amount of product to be sent for less than the cost of a box (depending on whether or not one gets hit with extra border fees of course).

This is why I order 3 months worth at a time, to make it easier to take the shipping costs.

USPS is the only reliable way to ship to Canada IMHO, so I just pay it :)

Kids, there will never be a Canadian warehouse for np because Canadian NHPD regulations are quite strict and require npn numbers for each product. I can assist in that, but it costs about $5000 per product for approval.

I used to work for a large supp company where I was responsible for Regulatory Affairs. I am acutally quite suprised that I am able to recieve everything I order from np. In time though, it will become quite difficult to import supplements from other countries.

Glad you pointed that out. Not many Canadian consumers understand this.

I wouldn't say things look that much worse than before, in my books it's still well worthwhile to order from NP as all my orders get through, and their service is second to none. True it costs me a few dollars more now to have an order shipped and I lose the ability to track the package properly, however it's still not a deal breaker in my eyes just yet.

An envelope option for small orders (ie one bottle, or bulk powders) would be ideal. For instance I want to give yohimbine a try, but I'm not willing to pay 17 bucks to ship it, and won't toss it in a bigger order in fear of customs agents on power trips.

I ordered a long time ago and used USPS surface which normally took 2 weeks (judging from previous orders)
Check this out ! just left the US after 3 weeks !!!!!

I had the same thing happen to me once before only it was 2 weeks between when it left NP and when it was accepted in Fayetteville. When I got my package it looked like the post office filled out the customs declaration (it was all handwritten), so it may have fallen off or something...who knows.

happened once to me, i bet you took ground shipping?
Never happened with airmail.

I love how they keep it down there to like the day before failure and then fckin rush it to it's destination the last day...ghey, how about shipping it early above expectation....noobs!

I just have to say i got a package today from AX today from USPS with a bottle, a shirt, and two beanies. Postage was only $5.69 on the box so I'm sure shipping is cheaper.

Yep I used ground ! Man I 've been waiting and waiting thinking it is going to show up sometime and that USPS just forgot to scan the package so I didn't know where it was until I checked !

Im telling ya, Airmail is the best choice for Canadians.
Never had trouble with it. Ok I did pay customs fees twice, but that is out of 10 orders +++
Its pretty fast too, I get my packages in less than 2 weeks.

Well I usually get my package in 2 weeks using ground shipping ! airmail is a lot more expensive right now if I were to replicate my last order I would have paid $70 + just for shipping !!!
