Beelze training log

so be it, the race to 200's is on. ;)

Noted.

I just have my nuts in the vicegrip of this pesky hypertrophy program Poliquin has.

3 weeks from now I'll commence Operation Floodgate.
(of the honey/creatine variety)

My knees sting like Kwyck's peepee when I'm doing heavy hacks Beez..(except the reverse stance ones). I know you said your knees are much better without wraps, but jeebus.. Was there a time you even had knee issues?

yeah, and i still have them, just not all the time. and i generally don't feel it until the next day. hacks hurt the worst and i should at least wrap for those, but i haven't yet.

Reverse Hacks? Charles Glass trains a bodybuilder for an upcoming show doing these. RHS hit similar muscles as the front or Zercher squat?

The videos on Bodybuilding dot com in the main section currently. he was explaining to Bob Chic what they hit I think but my sound is jacked. It looks like it.

You nailed it Smeton... It actually feels more like a regular squat with the natural arch in your lower back, opposed to the fixed position on a regular hack. Kind of similar to how a powersquat feels, if you're talking Beezer-speak.

I was trained by Charles once coincidentally.. we never touched on that though. ;)

My sound was jacked when I watched it but by the body language of Chic talking to Glass I think Chic said to stick your chest up and out, chest-up, against the back on the hack squat machine(where normally your back is)

Great numbers, I hate you so much. :)

Beelze,

That 90 second thing sounds rough. My trainer is having me run 20 second intervals all out, 9 mph+, with a 40 second rest, for 12 intervals, two days per week.

For another two days per week, I just run on a treadmill at anaerobic threshold for 20 minutes.

The 140 heartrate for 20 minutes sounds good.

Have you done any MAP testing yet?

well, the 90/90 split took a while to adjust to. i started out with 30/90, then 60/90, graduating to 90/90 later on. running is a different monster though, glad i'm doing that, lol.

MAP testing? enlighten me.

MAP testing (Metabolic Assessment Profile) is used to determine where you burn fat, and where you burn carbs as a function of your heartrate. Essentially, you're put on a treadmill with a face mask to monitor your oxygen consuption, and gradually increase your output until exhaustion. From this you can determine where you are burning the most fat, when you switch over to burning carbs. With this information, you can adjust your training to maximize fat loss, or build cardio endurance and efficiency. It's just a more accurate way of knowing what you're body is doing at various levels of cardio intensity, rather than just basing a particular heartrate as a function of % max intensity, based on your sex and age.

There is some more info here:

carb cycling works well ;) dropped about 11lbs so far without even trying. like i said before, best thing about this diet is i don't crave bad food, especially after a high carb day.

How are running your carb cycling? Are you taking any... um supplements to counter any muscle loss while dieting?

Oh, and I done brought the sexy back. JT can kiss my butt!

600 on training days (3 days a week)
300 on non-training days (remaining days - 4)

was going to included a couple of low carb days in there but haven't seen a need for it yet.

pec felt funny with yesterday's workout so i just fvcked off and did some weird **** for everything. it didn't pull but it would have if i had continued progressing.

using my phrase incorrectly generally costs the wrongdoer 250 cool points. you, my friend, have lost 431. why, you ask? because they're my friggin cool points.

yesterday's workout was even worse but i have highlighted the problem and it should be rectified by monday. requires an adjustment period, if you will.

I hear you man. Lifted at another gym than my home gym, they didnt have a thick lifting belt, just a thin one and strained my lower back doing heavy T bar rows.

Im looking for a powerlifting belt now to make sure this doesnt happen again.

sure does! Im not lifting intill my backs completely healed; although I plan to keep taking supplements for fatloss, muscle-gain. Thanks for the lifting belt.reps

back to normal....and then some

hack squats - 540 x 20 PR
one legged leg curls - 120 x 12 PR
dumbbell preacher curl - 60's x 9
dumbbell wrist curls - 55's x 20

20 mins cardio

Pfft. Your precious Batman wore Prong.

Laugh now Beelze... One day.. One day..I'm going to visit SB and then surpass your lever-laden ass. :D

Still up for that Picnic memorial day?

And... I'm spent.

no more coke for you lil fella, i can't even follow your train of thought anymore. deduct 9 cool points from yesterday's total, pass 'go' and collect 1.

How did I get a cool point out of that one? And, where did I sleep last night?

I'm taking a week off from training, and long days at work in the sun have taken their toll. :D

the one point was from time in grade, time in service - essentially, you didn't kill anyone important, so you got promoted a little.

yes, take week off. and actually sleep this time instead of using it for a week to party, friggin californians. :D

weird workout today, thinking i'll have to go back to higher reps for this particular workout from now on as i seem to have better results.

incline bench - 335 x 5, 225 x 21
BTN military - 225 x 12
CGBP - 315 x 6, 135 x 30
d-handle wide pulldowns - 250 x 15
barbell rows (wide) - 275 x 10

I'm not even partying.. where did you get that idea?

I thought you had an obsession with Batman. Obviously an error on my part.

All that aside, impressive inclines...really impressive. I kind of like higher rep stuff.... or limited rest/high volume stuff lately.

How wide was your grip on the rows? Snatch? :)

pinkies were about an inch from the rack on the rows. as for batman obsession, no. superman however, yes. :D

incline dumbbells - 145's x 12, flat bench TUT 2/3 - 225 x 10
hammer military - 270 x 13
incline CGBP - 245 x 7
pullups - 45lbs + BW x 8
dumbbell rows - 170's x 12

squats - 405 x 12 PR (strong all the way through, could've had 20 if my breath had stayed with me, damn you newports.)
hammer leg curls - lower left groin muscle felt funny on these, passed it up.
standing alt. dumb curls - 75's x 8, straight bar 90 x 20
behind back barbell forearm curls - 245 x 10 PR
seated calves - (4) 140 x max (30 second breaks)

20 mins cardio

new supps are kicking in, BW has jumped to 269lbs as of yesterday morning.

You smoke Dumbass?

I'm assuming those are ATG, as you could have had that rep range at parallel last year.

New supps? Did you jump on the hyped up OTC supp bandwagon here? :D

Crap, I miss your routine Beez. I feel as if my strength is dwindling with this damn arm program. Those forearm curls sound brutal.. 245? Crimminy.

ATG as it ever was, i go until i feel my hamstrings touch my calves. that's low enough in my book. like i said though, it wasn't heavy by any means, just tough on the ol' endurance. doing a 20-30lbs jump next time so i can cut back on reps by few, 10 reps is enough. supps are secret ;)
