Imus Out For Nappy Ho Comment!!!

I couldn't belive that Imus actually apologized. But, any time a white person says anything about a person of color, it's racist.

2 weeks isn't anything...

It just doesn't make much sense to me. CBS...they own the kidd chris show which airs in philly and he's a white guy that uses the 'n word' all the time...

I don't understand why this one is such a big deal. I don't agree with what he said, but I just feel like there are much worse things that are said all the time that go unnoticed...

Yeah it was an ass thing to say, but whats with the press confrence thats on ESPN right now. And why is it on BOTH ESPN channels, was it that shocking that you cant press the channel up button on your remote?

I follow European soccer a little, and if they make me miss part of the maybe 1 Chelsea FC game that I get to see a month I'm going to be PISSED.

There is a channel on digital cable devoted to it...FSN it think.

FREE IMUS!

I'm sick of minorities running to their soapbox anytime anybody says anything, in jest or not.

Sh1t happens, people say stuff, get over it. Hell, many minorities make a living by essentially claiming the "man" (white man), and "the establishment" is entirely racist against them and holding them down. I find that eternally offensive. Where is the outrage?

Blah. Nappy hoe, nappy hoe, nappy, nappy, nappy, nappy hoes.

Exactly.

kwyk is a nappy ho!

I'm deeply offensive.

Both Kwyck and Alexander should be banned for two weeks for barricading themselves behind the right to free speech, call in the PC Police, now!!

hey I am as anti-PC as anyone, but here's how it works

Freedom of speech is an extension of freedom of expression
as protected by the First Amendment. It is not a right to slander or defame.

The air waves of the USA are owned by the American people.
If one american feels maliciously attacked or slandered by a person using the airwaves professionally, then the insulted American has the right(First Amendment) to express their dissatisfaction with the FCC. usually case closed!

But, the Imus case is special as he chose the word "ho" which most Americans would recognize as slang for a "whore/prostitute"

Prostitution is illegal and morally questionable in most parts of the USA.

That means Imus could be found to be slanderous which is a crime. he and his company CBS/MSNBC are sensitive to litigation.

The Imus suspension is more of a preemptive countermeasure
for the company for the impending law suit.

The suspension is legal evidence that what he said was not part of the usual business practices of the company and was indeed a mistake made by Imus.

All of this could have been avoided if he would have called them the "nappy head skanks" which does not carry the same weight as prostitute.

When this first started, i reacted the same way as Kwyck. like it should just go away. I hate when Sharpton or Jackson get a chance to do their dog and pony show. But - after seeing the girls and actually hearing the comments, Imus should be fired. These are both black and white girls, ages 18-20, who go to a major university and just worked their tails off to get in the national championship, and he is insulting them on national radio and TV. WHY? It wasn't the least bit funny.

If it were my daughter, or my sister, or my girlfriend and some guy called her a nappy headed ho on the street - he'd be in a world of hurt. Sounds like Imus is just a bully on the airwaves picking on little girls. I'd fire him just for being such a wussy and apologizing to everyone in sight.

Where did Imus come up with such a "derogatory remark"? Hmmm, Let's all put our heads together on this one. I've never heard Bono say it. Jerry Springer, maybe. Where did this description come from? Wait, I KNOW WHERE! The African American community! Snoop, Dre, Little John, Ying Yang Twins, Eze E, would you like me to go on? Imus has said little to degrade the Black community while Gansta Rap continues to trash it's own kind. It's funny when they (Hardcore Gansta Rappers) are interviewed, "It's just for entertainment". Imus used something from another culture that he is not very familiar with, to entertain, to be funny. Dave Chappelle did a skit about a Black Man in the KKK! One Cracker in a house full of Blacks who take advantage of his girlfriend. Wha,Wha,What? His Black friends continue to come on his show! His White friends still work with him. Is it because Imus is more "Mainstream"?

I WOULDN'T APOLOGIZE FOR JACK SH1T!

IT'S CALLED FREEDOM OF SPEECH!

If Imus gets sued for slander, record companies like Def Jam, etc.. should step up and pay the fine.

Slander? Do you watch Chappelle? Bad white boy, don't support that slander.

This Country is run by lawyers seeking fame and MONEY.

CBS/MSNBC is a gigantic Golden Goose. The bloodsuckers (Sharpton, Jackson) will be feeding on his comments for awhile. Mmm, tasty.

I don't even care for Imus, never listen to him or watch him.

White Comic makes comments about the Blacks. Racsism

Black Comic makes comments about the Whites, funny joke.

Beware of the "White Devil".

If I was Black, I would be more offended by Whites trying to dress like me, act like me, listen to my music and take my women. MTV has become BET. I have had conversations with Whites "fluent" in Eubonics! Google: Eubonics No, You are not a PLAYA. You drive a Saturn, you silly White Boy.

Disclaimer: SUPPORT FREEDOM OF SPEECH.

I agree with pretty much everything Kwyck and Mach have said above.

But as white male, I know this is a biased view. I know that I have not lived the life that an black person has and by not doing so I cannot fully understand thier point of view. But I still cannot come to the conclusion that a simple comment that was made in jest by a radio host that is has a comedic broadcast would have such a profound effect.

This is going to cause a lot more problems with the FDA then is needed. Kind of makes you want sirius, huh?

I have been a white devil for just about 25 years now and I will say that it has been a blast.

I can no longer stand people like Rev. Al pimping the poor people and keeping the black race down. A friend's father of mine has worked a number of cases in regards to Rev. Al and he said that every time he has some sort of protest etc. he busses in the same 25 professional protesters. They are like professional mourners in the middle east, they don't know what they are sad over, but they do it for the money. He never EVER looks for fact.. he doesn't need it.. he just needs the TV because the TV makes everyone look credible.

People like Rev. Al and Jessie Jackson do everything they can to keep a black collective awareness of self hate and rejection alive and well. Yes.. blacks were slaves. So were jews, so were the irish, so were every living race on the planet. That is the one common thing humans are good at.. being slaves for other humans.

If Imus has to say sorry for a racial observation using socially correct words used every day then Rev. Al has to say he is sorry for a number of things.. including murder.. i'll list some below.

These rutgers girls said that their moment was taken away from them. They were stripped of their joy. SHUT UP!, GROW UP, GET OVER IT. Do you disrespect your abilities so much that one, old, grumpy looking cracker can say a phrase that was borrowed from the american black social system, and took .6 seconds to say which was meant to be FUNNY. If so, you should be losers. Black or white, if a team cannot find the respect for their own hard work and dedication during their season, or if they are not sure that their winning season was legit, and one phrase, one .6 second phrase can discredit their entire team and season... they are losers of the highest degree. So pack up.. give up, drop out of school, you all obviously do not put any faith into yourselves to allow .6 seconds of judgment and review to knock you down to nothing. And that goes for the 2 white team mates, though your coach doesn't think you are apart of the team, and doesn't bring you to the mic to talk the press and say how hurt you are, i still think you are apart of the team. You drop out too. (humm) Maybe the real story is why there are only 2 white members of the basketball team.. and do not play.

Some Rev. Al screw ups:

1987: Sharpton spreads the incendiary Tawana Brawley hoax, insisting heatedly that a 15-year-old black girl was abducted, raped, and smeared with feces by a group of white men. He singles out Steve Pagones, a young prosecutor. Pagones is wholly innocent -- the crime never occurred -- but Sharpton taunts him: "If we're lying, sue us, so we can . . . prove you did it." Pagones does sue, and eventually wins a $345,000 verdict for defamation. To this day, Sharpton refuses to recant his unspeakable slander or to apologize for his role in the odious affair.

1991: A Hasidic Jewish driver in Brooklyn's Crown Heights section accidentally kills Gavin Cato, a 7-year-old black child, and antisemitic riots erupt. Sharpton races to pour gasoline on the fire. At Gavin's funeral he rails against the "diamond merchants" -- code for Jews -- with "the blood of innocent babies" on their hands. He mobilizes hundreds of demonstrators to march through the Jewish neighborhood, chanting, "No justice, no peace." A rabbinical student, Yankel Rosenbaum, is surrounded by a mob shouting "Kill the Jews!" and stabbed to death.

1995: When the United House of Prayer, a large black landlord in Harlem, raises the rent on Freddy's Fashion Mart, Freddy's white Jewish owner is forced to raise the rent on his subtenant, a black-owned music store. A landlord-tenant dispute ensues; Sharpton uses it to incite racial hatred. "We will not stand by," he warns malignantly, "and allow them to move this brother so that some white interloper can expand his business." Sharpton's National Action Network sets up picket lines; customers going into Freddy's are spat on and cursed as "traitors" and "Uncle Toms." Some protesters shout, "Burn down the Jew store!" and simulate striking a match. "We're going to see that this cracker suffers," says Sharpton's colleague Morris Powell. On Dec. 8, one of the protesters bursts into Freddy's, shoots four employees point-blank, then sets the store on fire. Seven employees die in the inferno.

Yup Sharpton and Jackson are hypocrites. Jackson didnt want the Rainbow Coalition to fire him when it was discovered he had a longstanding affair and had produced illegitimate children.

These guys do not want EQUALITY, b/c they dont want to treat everyone the same. They certainly are not protesting the hip hop record labels whose artists refer to *****es n hoes and crackers.

I officially dropped any support I had for Obama's run today after he called for Imus to be fired.

What a ridiculous thing to get involved in for a presidential candidate. He officially exposed himself as a smooth-talking whore today.

Like I said before...Guiliani in 08

I love G. as a candidate, with ONE MAJOR exception. THE BORDER. He worries me in that regard.

Otherwise, he's got a spine of steel, says what he means and means what he says, and is a proven leader. America needs a leader who isn't going to cave to political pressures, and I believe he's that man.

Imus who? This story is blown way out, giving imus way too much publicity. He's an old windbag, I never heard of him until Stern bashed him on the radio many years ago.

Squeaks my brother, represent. Droppin dates on the Rev.

I heard a story when I lived in Alabama from "a Cracker" about how his friends were put on security outside of Martin Luther King's house. They had to keep their friends from burning the place down. Anyway, He basically said the parties that MLK had included drinking(of course), druggin, and women for everyone. Yes, prominent powerful members of the Black community. Were Rev. Al or Jackson friends of his back then, I don't recall.

I have a dream, and could you please stick to the house rules. Puff, puff, pass.

I'm getting really tired of the "I'm an angel, your bad" philosophy I'm hearing these days.

I can be yo Sista.. not a brotha but thats ok. In today's day-n-age you have to be worried on who you call a brotha or a sista lol.

I really do not know much about the private life of MLK, he may have been a horrible man in his personal life.. i know he cheated on his wife etc.. but that isn't saying much. His ideas were all that mattered anyway, and it is a shame that no one is following them, damn hell if Rev. Al and Jessie are keeping the dream alive.

Now that the duke case has been fully dropped.. when will Rev Al say "i'm sorry" to the team members that he grilled... and will he still pay for the strippers college for the rest of her life...

Please those guys will drop the Duke stripper like a bad case of crabs. And you can forget an apology coming out of those guys. Sharpton still refuses to apologize for repeatedly calling an innocent man a rapist and racist; basically Sharpton tried to ruin this guys life and refuses to apologize....he is a SCUMBAG.

And Jackson was involved w/MLK in the civil rts movement in the '60s.

Oh, snap. My bad. And you are in your own avatar and...... usually guys post pics as avatars and.....You know what? I'll just shut up now, keep up the good work MY SISTA!:woohoo:

Though I think this issue has been overblown and has provided yet another soapbox fo Sharpton and Jackson to stand on, Imus was way out of line with his comments.

I know the comedic process well and what it takes to try to say something spontaneously funny right off the cuff. I know how a harmless joke can be misworded into a terribly offensive one in a microsecond..believe me, I've offended a great many.

To me, this is less an issue of free speech, Sharpton et al, and one that is more about market forces. Imus wasn't all that talented to begin with IMO, so when he seriously offended these girls it opened his career up to more scrutiny and calls for cancellation than he would normally get. Politics influenced this, of course, even though it should be completely seperate. Obama and Hillary and any other politicos should concentrate on legislative issues and STFU about what shock jocks say and do.

There's also the issue of how little sincerity Imus showed when trying to mock apologize for his words. He made matters worse for himself IMO. Either really be sorry or really stand by your comments...but he was clearly just going through the motions which probably pissed even more people off.

Honestly, i don't care whether he's fired or not. I don't listen to him because he's stale, but despite how much some people want to make this into a racial equality issue, I just don't see it as one.

Shock jocks will always toe the line between shockingly funny and truly offensive, but they are not immune to what their sponsors think.

The thing that sucks about this is the double standard we're forced to almost just accept. Reggie White (RIP) once offended pretty much all races but nothing happened, I doubt he was a bad person but he had a moment where he made a mistake. One mistake should not cause someone his/her job. We'd all be fired if all it took was one mistake.

I'm also sick and tored of fvckin Sharpton and Jackson trying to stir up drama over useless sh!t. Wanna do something for the Black community ? Go improve schools, education, and stop gang violence in the community before you worry about a comment made by a shock jock.

OTOH, I do think Imus made some tasteless comments. I think he disrespected Rutgers and the basketball team but that's just my opinion.

On a lighter side, I'd be fvckin thrilled if I were the coach of Rutgers because this is good for recruiting. Now she gets to go on radio shows and talk so if she's media savvy then this can be a huge plus for Rutgers in the end.

Imus will be on a satellite station with in a month. The guy is a cash cow for any station to have.

We need to set up a Non-Negro foundation to help whitey out. First order of Business, a Ban on all things owned by CBS!!!!

Maybe this will help explain the actions of CBS!

When CBS fires Imus they take on the role of "the Great Liberator of Racial Inequity"
the type of people who feel vindicated by their action are of the demographic of people who buy things, not "black America" but whiney liberal americans with credit cards.

The incident is changed from a negative to positive for CBS! Brilliance = money !!!

Yea, He made and off color remark. People make mistakes. I don't listen to him but I think what they are doing isn't right. CBS has no choice, they must bend over under the pressure. Anybody listen to Opie and Anthony?

Love O and A. Ant said it best, being white rules.

I don't think he should have been fired either. Who cares what he said?. If you don't like what he said, than don't listen to him!!. If something like that actually bothers these kids for more than a minute or two, then they must have some deep seated emotional problems. Let it go already!. I can't believe they are so concerned about what other people think of them. Wait till they get out of school and join the real world...

I can't be sure of this but, maybe Sharpton and others told these girls they should be upset by this. $$$$$$$$$

I wonder when Big Al is going to go after MTV's "Your Momma"? or "The Chappelle Show". I would love to know what Dave Chappelle's reaction is to all of this. I'm going to go look for it.
