Supplements for RUNNING

Well, here's my deal. I'm looking to increase my cardio capacity. Want to be faster, stronger, quicker, oorah! However, I'm not sure which supplements I should be taking. Generally, I run distances between 2-5 miles, and my goal is to run the 3 mile in 18 minutes.

My goal is NOT to lose weight, although that would be a nice addition. My goal is to run faster, longer, and just be a better runner.

When I try to contemplate a supplement stack however, I come up blank. Right now I take whey, CEE, AP and DCP. AP and DCP running low though - last few days. Might restock, might not.

What I have been contemplating -
Anabolic Pump + DCP
Super Cissus? Or is that not needed with AP...
Joint support formulas, such as MSM or whatever, so that I can run more often?
Citrulline Malate, which I hear is great for endurance
Green Tea Extracts

More or less clueless when it comes to supplementing running. I wouldn't be suprised if there isn't really anything to take for runners, but hopefully there is!

Thanks for any input

Cissus....bulk Cordyceps (supposed to increase endurance), Poseidon (extreme hydration). A mild stimulant could be beneficial, but watch out for hydration...

contact milleniumsports and get you a sample of Cordygen5. I think its about the best cardio(running) supp out there.

I have found that MAN clout is great for endurance and stamina.

I have been known to take MAN Clout before a long run and then take Axis Labs CEE/BCAA when I am done. Seems work well with me.

Good luck!

Hey, got a quick question for ya...
Cordygen5 - just about to order it. I saw another product also made by Milleniumsports that looks like a good stacker, called Citruvol. It appears to be mainly Citrulline Malate, but contains some other Cordycep plant dosage as well (Cordyne3). I was contemplating just picking up some bulk Citrulline Malate, but do you think it's worth it to go for the stack? Cordygen5 and Citruvol?

AND, lol, ONE LAST Q! On top of those two products, whether it be Cordygen5+Citruvol or Cordygen5+CitrullineMalate, would you recommend taking... Anabolic Pump on top of that. I used AP in the past 3 weeks, stacked with DCP, and I've dropped some poundage. Or would that be too much?

AP + Cordygen5 + Citruvol FOR THE WIN?!?!
Might throw in Beta-Alanine as well... lol... kid in a candy shop.. so many choices!

Millenium sports is good. Cordyceps, citrulline, magnesium, and beta alanine work make a good endurance formula for sure.

I would do cordygen5, Body Octane, and Cytosport Revenge Pro. Trust me on those. ;)

I say Body Octane over Citruvol specifically for your purpose only. It already has whopping doses of Beta Alanine, Citrulline, and lots of other endurance enhancing goodies. If you were using it for weight lifting purposes, Citruvol might be a better choice.

Revenge Pro is pretty amazing stuff; don't write it off as just another carb drink. It's not. It alone will boost output capability by, in my experience, 20% (percieved).

Ah......... well put. Body Octane it is! Same company Clickster was telling me about, the company MAN, which I have only heard great reviews from. Sounds like the W! Thanks for the help guys, super stoked to try these out!

You'll be pleased. As far as the Revenge Pro, it says to sip it during excercise. Uh, right. Unless you want to stand at the half way mark with a paper cup of it for me to grab, there's no sipping going on during a run, and I'm not putting sweet stuff in my Camelback. So mix a scoop in 4-6 oz water a half hour before, and you'll get the effect.

:D

MAN is a great company and has very solid products. You can't go wrong with em.

BodyOctane is an awesome supplement.

Good choice bro.

If you need more of a jolt before you run, remember Axis Labs SMASH, it will get you running for a LONG time. ;)

Good luck man and take care.

Poseidon would be an excellent addition to your stack, however, I'm a bit biased ;)

Crowler, from Anabolic Innovations, recently competed in a triathlon. He used Poseidon combined with Excell while training for this event with excellent results. You may find this thread of interest as well:

The other products mentioned in this thread are all excellent choices. MAN has an amazing product line and Axis Labs seems to have a winner with Smash! Hard to choose with so many good choices out there. ;)

75 grams of Oatmeal and 30grams of whey isolate with 1 cap of AP 1 hour and 30 minutes before a run. The best fuel money can buy! Real energy.

In that meal I would drop in 5 grams of creatine and then consume some beta alanine(2-3grams)/citrulline malate(5-8grams) 20 minutes before the run.

Just received AP...looking forward to trying this out for myself as I hear GREAT things. :)

A lot of people have recently reported SMASH being great for cardio/extended cardio. Would also recommend Poseidon with it.

Although, there have been many great suggestions made here.

lol.. I'm contemplating expanding the stack. How about AP stacked with any of these cardio products? I would mainly be taking it so that I can eat more carbs so that I will always be ready to go. However, with the increase of carbs, I don't want to gain uneeded fat. Wouldn't AP help out in this situation? Allowing me to eat more carbs for endurance, without the negatives?

It should according to USP Labs. I'm currently trying it stacked with Poseidon, so I'll let you know. Based on others feedback, I expect good things.

one last bump for the AP question... just don't want to diminish the effects of the other cardio supplements...

thanks fellazzzzzzzz

A lot of people are finding AP to potentiate a lot of supps they take with it, so I don't think it would diminish any results from others. You won't gain fat eating carbs on AP and in theory you'll keep your glycogen up which should really help your endurance for running, as long as the intensity is high enough.

Gentlemen, I also am a little bit biased toward Poseidon, as well as a little bit addicted to it, but what I can for sure is this... I attended a meeting with Crowler just this last Wednesday and he looked amazing (In a completely heterosexual way of course, don't worry Crowler).

He told me that he had just been cutting his calorie intake, riding his bike (i think, about 30 miles a day a few days a week, he would have to clarify), taking a moderate dose of Poseidon (Also he would have to clarify exactly how much) and mega Dosing EXCELL (once again he would have to clarify the exact amount). I would have to say that seeing him and hearing what he has done to get into his current physical condition, he has motivated me... I have already planned my April Cycle of a daily regimen of 6 - 9 Servings of Poseidon,
30-40 grams of EXCELL and maybe a mild stimulant (I react in an adverse way to "normal" doses of stimulants) and increasing my cardio to about 40-60 minutes of intense activity (Heart Rate over 160-170) 3-4 days a week. I figure if I can get even close to the physical condition of Crowler... well then lets just say this Summer could be very productive... Well I forgot... I have to keep getting you guys Poseidon... Never mind... I will just look good and be working 15 hours a day to provide Poseidon and the other Nimbus Products... Absolutely well worth it though. Crowler, hope you don't mind me using you as an example... Thanks Buddy.

I was going to suggest Poseidon-Beta-Alanine-BCAAs. I am out of beta-alanine for awhile and it sucks, used what little I had up last week making super Poseidon drinks. I have done alot of mandatory running(I was a Sgt in the Marine Corps) and I always found that creatine seemed to hurt my running ability a bit. I am only 5'5 and I am a bit leggy and my thighs would pump up so hard that I would barely be able to extend my legs. I always ran around 20-22 min 3 miles during PT tests and one time after loading creatine I nearly failed my PFT. Now, back then I loaded nonstop, 15-20gms per day. I find now that just taking a little creatine around my lifting workouts does not hinder anything during my runs. As for stimulants- too strong made me wind out a bit but something light seemed to work fine.

Semper Fi sir, and thanks for the suggestions... still looking into prices and such (college budget post-spring break... not looking good). I'm headed off to OCS this summer, PLC program. Extremely excited, but my run times are just slacking. Became accustomed to the treadmill sir, a bad idea. I think if I fully prepared myself, the best I could do would be a 21. Two months out, and less than a month before my pre-ship PFT, I feel like giving a shot to cardio supplements, even if I don't gain a second.... definitly worth a shot, ESPECIALLY with all these great reviews spanning over 5 or 6 supps.

Thanks for all the help guys - all I have to do now is negotiate with my pitiful bank account and see what I can do! Appreciate all the postings... had no idea what to expect for cardio supplements.

I believe Nutra Planet still has Poseidon on sale, so this may help the wallet out!

HL,

I well understand a limited budget. I am probably the poorest soul here! Single income, vehicle, mortgages, new baby, lots of debt! I get 50 dollars per week and I have to buy gas out of that for work, so I have to pick my products wisely and sometimes its good span in between them.

Just start small and one more thing. running is alot mental for me. You have to put in your mind to never give up and just pick up your leg one more time. I found running light poles for 3-5 miles always improved my runtimes the most. At Parris Island I would jog between two poles and sprint between two. I was doing Interval work before they named it I believe? Good luck young man and let us know how it goes.

I still say Poseidon- Beta Alanine- BCAAs and run as hard as you possibly can.
