After watching your Corbett video, here is what I would say....
FIRST - always evaluate the source. Is the person making the video a conspiracy kook who is going to edit a slanted/biased video pushing conspiracies? Start with their position on the moon landing, which is the most easily verifiable proof of a dummy who believes in every goofy fake conspiracy theory.
What kind of educational background does James Corbett have? A Canadian guy with an Arts degree in English literature. Hardly a guy who is an expert in science, math, or geopolitical espionage and terror. He is known as an "independent alternative historian". That reads to me as a guy who will say any silly sh1t to get clicks.
I saw Kurt Metzger giving statements in part of the video. Kurt is a comedian (who also doesn't believe in the moon landings, LOL!!). Do you go to a comedian for serious world news? Is anything he is saying proven as fact, or are his quotes put out there in this video and merely presented as facts? That is a common trick used in all these conspiracy videos, where they present the whole collection as if true to lead you towards a predetermined conclusion. You need to independently fact check every claim in the entire video.
A lot of the video is dedicated to the idea that this big Hamas invasion was undetected. Who ever said it was undetected??? The IDF knew Hamas was generally planning an attack, but no one knew when or where they would strike. Invasions start with a surprise attack. Hence the term "surprise attack". Like Pearl Harbor. Or the Germans invading Poland in WW2. The Polish government KNEW they were going to attack, but they didn't know where or when. Or when Germany launched Operation Barbarossa on Russia in 1941. Or the Tet Offensive in Vietnam. Same thing. They all COULD have seen it coming, but for various reasons and mistakes or overconfidence, they missed the key warning signs. That is how surprise attacks succeed!
A lot is made of the CLAIM there was a stand down order for the IDF troops. But that is also not really true. There was no order from the top of the IDF for all troops to stand down that morning. One IDF soldier, Shalom Sheetrit says his small unit near Golani was told to stand down until 9am that morning. And the BBC similarly reported a Golani unit was told to stand down a specific patrol near the fence due to a possible Hamas attack with anti-tank missiles. These two stories may refer to the same one instance? But it was not a stand down order for ALL troops on the entire border. Just a small group, due to a specific threat, as a safety measure. More of a delay than a stand down order. But THAT is how conspiracy guys take one tiny fact and falsely present it as systemic nation-wide events.
The video throws around the phrase "Hannibal Directive" as if that proves some kind of shady IDF actions to kill their own people. But REALLY, the Hannibal Directive just authorizes deadly force to prevent Hamas vehicles, for example, from escaping back into Gaza carrying kidnapped Israeli hostages. This ignores the idea that Hamas has already attacked and has already illegally and brutally taken Israeli prisoners. Its only about how far to go to stop them before they escape!! And maybe blowing up the terrorists in the act, risking killing your own prisoners, is better than letting them get away to be tortured and starved for years, with eventually each IDF prisoner traded for a thousand Hamas criminals to be released in exchange. No??
The female soldiers monitoring the border were generally unarmed and without combat training (observers more than actual combat ready troops). Over-confident IDF commanders did not think a massive invasion was possible or that they would succeed in over-running local bases. And the paragliders allowed Hamas terrorists to penetrate far deeper into Israel than ever expected, causing reaction forces to be more spread out and take far longer to regain control.
In general, it seems to me that in this Oct 7th attack, warning signs were missed (as has happened in MANY similar events in world history cited above) and it occurred on a holiday when forces were at their lowest readiness (-40%). And while you say the massive high tech wall should have prevented the attack, it also seems IDF had too much confidence in this super high tech wall and this over-confidence was a major reason for the failures on the morning of Oct 7th. But that doesn't take away from the FACT that Hamas terrorists planned the attack, conducted the attack killing over 1200 Israelis (which would be equivalent of them killing 40,000 Americans in one day here!!), Hamas filmed the attack on go-pro cameras celebrating as they murdered and raped and beheaded Israelis (note - the 'beheading of babies' story was false) and deserve every f-king thing they get in retaliation.
