Got another good pump from this little leg workout. Walking lunges felt better and way more stable today, with no pain in the toe or foot. So thankfully no harm done when I stumped it on the ladder Tuesday.😎👍

I was really in the zone today. The 220 x 10 on bench actually felt pretty easy, so finally back to 225 next week. When I went for 230 for 10 a few months ago that’s when I injured my shoulder, and it set me back. So after I try 225 for 10 next week, I’ll probably do a de-load the following week (whether I hit 10 on the 225 or not). I feel good, but since I added bench back in, I’ve been progressing pretty quickly again, so better safe than sorry.😎👍

That’s a great session and looks like a fun one! Be back to the 2 plate in no time 💪🏻

do you guys have a plate loaded machine for that incline bench like a hammer strength, or the other kind with a stack? I'm always surprised how many variations exist out there for the same movement and each one seems to hit just slightly different.

It’s plate loaded…so the 205, is two 45s on each side, and a 10 and 2 1/2 on each side. And it is a Hammer Strength. I guess I should put HS on there, so people know.
This is the machine…. I love it, very smooth, and really hits the upper chest good…

You could also do 205,215,225 for your sets next time if you’re worried 20lbs will feel like too big of a jump on bench.

That’s actually what I should do, because when I do 205 for 2 sets of 10 and jump up 20 lbs I definitely notice it. Doing 205 and 215 before should also have me more primed for 225….and hey, it’s more total weight volume, and I’m all for that.😎👍

that hammer strength might be my favorite, so far my experience has been that the plate loaded machines seem to move on a plane that my joints really like a lot more. gotta really squeeze the pecs at the top for full impact but they don't feel like they're nearly as likely to force something like some of the other machines.

I agree…. I love the Hammer Strength machines. They are really smooth, and like you said seem to be in the correct plane to not only hit the target muscles, but be very sparing and supportive of the joints and connective tissues.

Really nice pump today…..biceps were on fire by the time I finished. My Grandson has been down lately, so he finally told me that his girlfriend broke up with him. She said he didn’t have time for her and all he cared about was work. He got promoted to waiter at the restaurant he works at, and has been working most evenings, so he really hasn’t had time. I told him that just means she wasn’t the one, and it’s her loss. But funny thing is when I was taking him to work this evening he told me about one of the girls that he works with was really hot and she flirts with him. So when we pulled up a girl was walking from her car to the restaurant, and he said that’s her Paw Paw , so I told him go for it big boy. He got out and ran up and caught up with her and they were just a chatting going in the door. I told my wife when I got back, his heart wasn’t broken long, and told her about the girl. She just laughed and shook her head and said boys. Yeah, I think he’ll be alright.😎

Back n Bi’s and good times w your Grandson!!! Doesn’t get much better.

I am pretty sure your back is measurably stronger than me. I have been really testing those h/s high rows to see if I can hit your numbers and its more than a challenge. I do like pushing those top end ones but you'll notice in my log I often drop weight a bit for more reps. What I don't mention in my log is even though I "can" get some heavy 3 wheel+ rows in I just really struggle to finish it with complete ROM. You're in here setting my goals for me and ya don't even know it 😂

Good for the boy! I like that he basically had his boundaries and wasn't going to shift things around for her. Unfortunate for him to have to have the break up, but my generation grew up with too much of the white knight syndrome and they can't figure out why their wives won't be their mommies when they stop acting like men.

That age, it’s only a good thing for relationships not to get too serious. They’re all only beginning to figure it out, so it’s better to realize there’s a lot of pretty girls out there now. So you’ll find one you’re attracted to regardless, but it’s how you get on with them & what’s inside that really counts.

Glad he’s got Paw Paw to help him make some sense of it all as he blasts his way through youth!

I always think how awesome it would be to go back knowing what you know now, but then you would never get to learn the hard way I suppose to acquire what you know now!

Well they must be hitting it off pretty good. I didn’t have to go pick him up, because she brought him home. Ha, I guess you could say he’s moved on up, because she has her own car.😂

Everything felt good today including the toe. I go to my Orthopedic tomorrow, and hopefully this wrap is coming off, and my toe will be set free.😂
Honestly I was very tempted to try some leg presses, but I promised my wife when I injured myself that I would not do anything until the Doctor says it’s ok. So hopefully I’ll be back to a normal leg day next week and a bike ride this Saturday….but I will stay off the side mountain biking trails, and on the concrete bike trail, for a little while anyway.😜

Felt great today, and probably could have got 225 for 10 on bench, but I didn’t have a spotter and stopped at 9. Shoulders and joints are actually feeling great, so I’m going to go for 10 next week when my training partner is back and can spot me. So yeah I’m gonna delay the deload week until after next week, and go from there. Oh, and my Orthopedic unwrapped my toe and said the X-ray looked good, so the toe has been set free and actually feels pretty good. A little stiff, but that’s to be expected. I went for a 5 mile bike ride with my Grandson Sunday, and it felt so good, even though it was 24*. We decided not to go Saturday, because it was 12* Saturday morning and the high was only 24*, and we’re just not used to that here in Georgia. My Grandson was a trooper though and hung in there Sunday. 😎👍

Even though covering with a blanket is best a lot of the larger Peach farmers will spray water on the trees, to form ice, when it’s 24*-32*, because the ice actually helps keep the heat in and protects them, but the worst thing for the Peach trees is a late frost when they are in bloom.

Constantly spraying water (overhead irrigation) on peach trees during a freeze can protect them by forming an ice layer that keeps the plant tissue at or near \(32^{\circ }F\) (\(0^{\circ }C\)), releasing heat as it freezes. This method requires continuous, specialized application to prevent ice from causing more damage than the cold itself. Key Details for Protection: How it Works: As water freezes, it releases heat, acting as a protective barrier around the buds or blossoms.Requirements: The sprinkler system must run continuously throughout the entire freezing event.Risks: If the water stops, evaporation can pull more heat away from the tree, worsening the damage. It is generally only effective for temperatures just below freezing (\(23-24^{\circ }F\) and up).Better Alternatives: Covering the trees with blankets or sheets, or keeping the soil around the tree moist, can also provide protection. For best results, keep the trees well-watered in the days leading up to the freeze to ensure they are hydrated and better able to survive.

thats wild, I had no idea!

Yeah, it’s funny some of the tricks that the farmers have done for years, and they just pass on the knowledge to each generation.
And then the researchers come along to try and explain the science behind, which I do enjoy, but the old farmers are like “Okay…. I just know it works because my Dad showed me and his Dad showed him and so on.” I still like checking out the Farmers Almanac…ha, a lot of things in that are more reliable than meteorologists. The tricks in the Farmers Almanac is more about reading nature, the sky, and understanding how the Moon’s cycles affect the climate. It’s actually really cool how accurate a lot of it is.😎👍

thats funny cause I was listening to moonshine/distillation podcast and they were doing a deep dive on enzymes, and how malted grains provide the enzymes needed to convert starches from corn into sugar to make your liquor and there was a lot of discussion on how on earth the old timers ever stumbled over that since they didn't likely have any scientific way of knowing that a little malted barley helped convert corn kernals but at somepoint they realized that adding some malted grains to their unmalted grains yielded more product in the end and went with it. Kinda the same thing. I'm always curious about stuff like that. Like how did Maria the Jewess of Alexandria in the 1st Century AD invent the still, and how over time did people learn how to make cuts to remove the poisonous compounds like methanol etc over time.

pretty amazing what humans figured out without labs over the millennia.

Another awesome pump day…. I was drenched in sweat, but unfortunately I didn’t have an extra shirt in my gym bag. When I changed back into my regular clothes, by the time I stopped at QT my good shirt was almost soaked too. Part of it is this crazy weather. So we had the extreme cold front up until yesterday, and then today it got up to 58*. It felt like Summer when I walked out of the gym, after being used to the cold.🥴

man thats funny cause you and i are almost as far away from eachother as we can be. my old co-worker and childhood friend got the "beware of falling iguanas" warning down in florida last week. I was building that greenhouse out in 27f frigid temps and then last weekened when I was at my boys wrestling tourney the sun was out, I was wearing a tshirt and it touched 60F!!

next week we are about back down to freezing temps though, I still think we have a chance of snow but its not looking good lol

Yeah my sister lives in Florida, and she was telling us about the falling iguanas warning, that’s wild. Yeah the swings in temperature has been crazy this Winter. We’re getting rain today, but the low Friday is supposed to be 27* and the high 58*.🤷🏻‍♂️

The ‘Feels Like’ temp is up to 17* here & I am loving it; that extra 10-20* makes a big difference in comfort. I no longer have to wear a coat walking to the car except for early mornings.

Next Monday is supposed to hit 50, so I’ll probably be switching to shorts & tanks! Not mad about that.

I bet you are loving that cold with the way Trest and Dien are heating up your metabolic furnace. I’ve never tried Dien, but that’s one of the things Trest does to me. I love it, but man it makes me sweat.

I think next week I’m going to try the belt squat machine. Never tried one so I’ll go light on it until I get a feel for it. I’ll add it in at the end in place of the lunges. They’re very intuitive. You can really execute them however you like as far as width, depth, and pushing knees over toes vs sitting back more. My one recommendation is to keep your hands on the handles, like a Hatfield Squat - this will give you more control and balance, letting you use more load for however you want to squat but also easier to focus tension where you desire it.

belt squat is awesome, I wish we had one! those leg press numbers are looking big especially for that foot delay you had.

I'm the kinda retard that goes out in the snow with my sandals on to chop wood and haul a load of wood into the house then complains about how cold it is, tbh.

Well 225 was a smooth fairly easy 10 on bench. My partner was there to spot, and I thought about trying for 12, but decided to leave some in the tank. Really had a nice chest, shoulders, and triceps pump by the end today. I’m still going to go ahead and do a deload on everything except legs next week. Even though the shoulders feel great, I learned my lesson the last time I was progressing so fast on bench and injured my shoulder. Hopefully the deload is the key to giving the joints and ligaments the breaks they need to keep progressing. Ha, when you’re older you just have to take what you can get…..notice I did say take, because it definitely isn’t given.💪😎👍

Workout went well even though I had a pain right in the middle of my shoulder blades. I’m pretty sure it’s from my neck from sleeping wrong. I’ve had a bulging or herniated disc in my neck that will get better, and then flare up every once in a while. My Chiropractor always helps, so probably time to get an appointment. It does feel much better after I got home and rolled it out on my small Chirp wheel. I’ll see how it does tomorrow.

your curls are always so stronk 😂 😂
everytime I move to focus on bicep work I see the heavier barbells there, I think about you, I start warming up the elbows, and then I just go all out on higher rep stuff chasing the pump on lower weights lol.

Thanks Dustin…Yeah my biceps are probably still my pound for pound strongest muscles in comparison to everything else, and I love training arms. To be fair though, my limits on Chest and shoulders has more to do with joints and ligaments than muscle strength.

All that armwrestling built a serious base!
