I have a question about St John’s Wort

I decided to take some St John’s Wort to kind of give myself a boost, started taking it a month or so ago. Since then my joints have been killing me especially my shoulders. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or what. I’d hate to quit taking the SJW because it’s helping and I don’t want to take any rx anti-d. But I might have to and am not sure if that’s the cause of my increased joint pains. Just as a reference I’m taking high dose fish oil, Cissus XT, MSM and Chondroitin are in my Myogenix Myoplex multi pack. My stack is Prime XT, AE. AXT, and Mtest and have never had any joint pains like this. I take extra Mag, Saw Palmetto. Any insights?

I've heard that for years with it and that's why we don't use it in any formulas and that I've always said that it's an ingredient best used as a single ingredient because some people can take it and some can't.

Joint wise, have you tried Joint Support XT? It's excellent and helps fast.

Have you tried Mood Support XT? It helps me a lot.
I've struggled almost my whole life with depression and nothing is going to completely take it away, but I definitely feel better on it and I function much better on it.

There are no published studies that indicate joint pain as a side effect of St John’s Wort. In fact, the studies indicate that St John’s Wort is anti-inflammatory. So it's not the St John’s Wort that caused your joint pain. As a natural anti-depressant it has no rival. And you don’t get the nasty side effects of prescription meds. When buying St John’s Wort it is crucial to select a product that has been standardized for hypericum. And don't cheap out. Buy a quality formula.

take 10 days off from the St. John's wort and see if your joints still hurt.

I would guess your mega joint stack listed is lowering your estrogen, which can give some "dry joints" type of feelings.

He said that he was taking Fish Oil and Cissus XT and then MSM and Chondroitin in his multi vitamin pack, which would be the joint portion, and none of those are going to lower estrogen.

The natural anabolic stack that he is taking (Prime XT, Anabolic Effect, Anabolic XT, and M-Test) is not going to lower estrogen. He has been on that stack awhile I believe, and if I'm not mistaken, he has used them all before. It's a very common and popular stack and there's nothing about it that will lower estrogen.

I do agree about possibly taking a break from the St. John's wort. It's weird bc on paper it has some possible anti-inflammatory properties, but when I owned a brick and mortar we did hear feedback from some people that it caused joint aches and from some with autoimmune conditions that it caused body aches/muscle pain. We heard it enough that the staff knew to mention it to people and ask if they had any autoimmune conditions. It's also why we don't use it in any formulation products because it seems best suited as a stand alone bc the individual response can vary.

It could be a coincidence and not the SJW, but out of the things he listed, it is the newest variable I believe and it does cause that in some people. But could also be coincidence, weather, etc.

I’ve read a lot of side effects from it but it does seem to work with none of the rx sides. I might try some Curcumin along with my Cissus and then Joint Support. I might look into Mood support.

Most of the joint stuff I’m taking is helping a lot. I remember taking Armistane back in the day now that really dried out my joints. I’ll prob go off the SHW I just hate to since it’s working well for the mental part.

I’ve been on my stack for a while and no problems. My other theory was I read it can increase clearance time in the liver of certain medicines like Amlodipine which I take so maybe it is having the same effect on my joint supplements and making them not as effective? I don’t know I’ll prob go off the SJW this weekend.
