Had to bring my belt back in a hole from EFS today. Appetite has been poor since the virus, so even throwing a bunch of cookies & Christmas fudge in I’m just barely keeping up with calorie demands at 4 meals per day. Still, last squat of 2025, so I was resolved to go out strong - hit a big single & the heaviest set of 6 I’ve ever actually done.

Really leaned on the crew today to pump me up to make it through. Every squat day is now a brutal gut-check; there’s no way I would have pullled this off training solo.
 
those are fantastic numbers my dude. solid end of the Squat year for you!
and don't worry about the missing lbs. I found them and will gladly give them back next month.

Still, last squat of 2025, so I was resolved to go out strong - hit a big single & the heaviest set of 6 I’ve ever actually done.

Really leaned on the crew today to pump me up to make it through. Every squat day is now a brutal gut-check; there’s no way I would have pullled this off training solo.
I like the scrape ice of car solid warm up starter!

LOL I missed that part, in our parts of the country we're sandbagging and digging little troughs in the driveway to redirect rain water away from the house lol if we had snow, we'd have a foot or two but the good Lord saw fit to give us floods instead 😂

Yeah sounds like you guys are getting dumped on hard. It was warm for Christmas, but now real winter has set in here - it was 14* this morning going to the gym, not accounting for windchill. The snot in my nose was beginning to freeze.

Heading to my in-laws tonight for New Year’s Eve, so got up early again to go into the commercial gym to get my leg & lat accessories done. This was really nice because I got to help my wife deadlift for a change, plus it was relaxing because I didn’t do any real lifting. Everything felt easier as well without having squatted prior. Just walked in, dropped my bag, and plopped down on the leg extension 😆

We are finally real cold at about 32-33f this morning. Fog so thick you can't see past the yard. Started a fire for the wife at 5am this morning to cut the chill a bit. Fingers are still crossed for snow, eventually, but you never know out here.

I like it, but there’s a few things that have been dragged out. Also, not that I’m against foul language but it’s seems like they forced a lot of cussing. I’m hoping tonight’s finale wraps things up in a good way.

Got my weight back up a few lbs, and I was stronger on my JM Press & heavy Pressdowns than last time doing this workout 2 weeks ago, but my endurance has dropped noticeably from the virus. Just felt like I was dragging & breathing through film, even with some Bronkaid; high-rep bench was down from last time as I just felt like my muscles were running out of oxygen sooner. Frustrating to be eating all my meals & getting my sleep & knowing I’m stronger, but things dropping off purely because of lingering sickness.

Anyway, the numbers on this day don’t really matter the way they do on the big 3 lifts, so gotta keep perspective. As long as I’m doing work today, it’s facilitating the big picture.

I forgot I meant to start up some ATP Elite now that I’m 2 months out from the comp, so hopefully that will help some with my wind.

You know, can't say I remember a whole lot of difference on ATPElite, but I do have a bottle of Rev02 I'm thinking about adding into my regimen this month now that I'll be back into cut mode. Figuring I'll need all the help I can get with the lower cals & high volume reps.

It’s subtle, no feels, but I just simply found myself being able to do more work in a session on ATP Elite, undoubtedly. Which is a capacity that generally drops on steroid blasts anyway without increasing conditioning to offset that, once you pass a modest level of enhancement. Things like increased water retention, BP, blood thickness can all drag you down in training (you just grow more muscle & get stronger despite doing less).

What is Rev02 and ATP elite?
Supplements from CEL/SNS that increase work capacity.

Which isn’t actually inherently something you would always want, because you do have to recover from more. But in a scenario where you have the recovery and need more GPP to take advantage of it, they’re excellent.

If you have accessories planned that you know you can recover from, but you aren’t getting through your complete workouts because you fall off at the end of the sessions, it’s the best thing you are going to get besides adding conditioning work. Which you could obviously do both too.

It's basically the same subtle increase you should see by adding creatine. Knowing what ATP does is basically the reason I've used it a few times with extra creatine on top. ATP is responsible for every single function in the body that requires energy. Every cell that requires energy to perform an action uses ATP as its primary source of power. If you want to get real nerdy with it, ATP is the energy required to form every molecule. If you tap out your ATP stores, the excess will get converted into glycogen, and those glycogen stores will help store more ATP later (which carbs do anyways) but I've been reading a lot about it lately it's kind of a cool topic for me at the moment. From the brain activity to the nerve impulse to the muscular contraction all starts with ATP.

As I already supplement creatine daily, perhaps that's why I didn’t notice anything per se.

I think carnitine has something to do with ATP recycling or the formation of ATP. Don't quote me 😂. But they have something to do with each other and they should complement each other so it makes sense

Same I’m ring on ring and go to pointer when doing wide. I try to do the same roughly when moving into close grip also.

My wife started with a bug the week before Christmas that was in and out for a few days, she never recorded a fever, but by last Friday she was bad enough that I wondered if we were going to take her to urgent care. Sunday she was feeling so good she had been cleaning the house as if she had been doing lines of coke while I was at the gym and when I got home all she could think about was how dissappointed she was to be sick during the vacation instead of cleaning and doing projects the whole time, lol. My male perspective was busy thinking how nice it was that she had vacation time so she didn't have to stress over work 😂

Several people around here (NC) have had a very similar bug and a few I know that had it tested positive for COVID so I guess it kicked back up. @Hyde had the symptoms very similar to Covid but I don’t think he got tested. I think the best thing to do these days if you think you’ve got Covid is exactly what he did.

Several people around here (NC) have had a very similar bug and a few I know that had it tested positive for COVID so I guess it kicked back up. @Hyde had the symptoms very similar to Covid but I don’t think he got tested. I think the best thing to do these days if you think you’ve got Covid is exactly what he did.

After that dry cough fit with the clear minimal sticky drainage, I’m convinced it was COVID. Nothing has ever given me that previously besides COVID. Add in the days of low fever, body aches, diarrhea, loss of taste, and then later the winding in training…plus the protracted phasic nature of this…every facet of it jives like nothing else. Plus they even say it’s been making a comeback around here. And Ivermectin early stopped all the fevers as soon as I implemented it, just like last time.

I did sleep great last night and feeling like I might be getting out of the woods, finally. But we’ll see!

That’s exactly the time I started going into survival mode, but I pushed on through 6 because I knew I needed more to progress. Then I was just done; it wasn’t even an active decision.

Yeah when you do a heavy pull like that, especially for reps, there’s no question if you’re done or not. That’s when you know you’re bumping the red line on the RPM’s so to speak. Great call in stopping at that point and ending on a good note.

Back to the COVID issue. My wife had that same cough that ended up lasting several months until it went away. She ended up having to do a round of prednisone. Didn’t want to, but she was at her wits end. I hope yours goes away soon.

Good one today. Would have liked to feel stronger on bench, but nothing is hurting, I’m self-unracking in decent positions and I’m repping ~300lbs for quality work, so I’ll take it! Also forgot my amentoflavone today, which definitely makes a difference.

Lockout needs work on my right arm, and CG work was just the ticket - it was obvious that Tri is just flat out weaker. So that’s exciting to see how much better I can get it with some focus on that, as well as how tough sit-ups were. Those should definitely help me stay upright for a heavier squat if they’re that weak now. Also glad pushups keep feeling better & better. Think I’m going to add a band on them for more triceps next week.

That’s why I like those too, because they go right on the bar. And the old shoulders appreciate that on any CG bench work
I wish more guys would do stuff like this instead of just giving up and waving the white towel. I got a very close friend who's 67 on TRT and I can't for the life of me get him to go lift. even when I invite him for free. thing is, he's still built a bit like an ox but he just can't be bothered to lift much anymore, just talks about how strong he used to be 😥
