Vaping

Hi guys,

Have set a date to quit vaping at the end of August.

Would love to hear any experience of quitting - timeline how you felt etc. Hoping no anxiety haha.

Have been smoking for approx 18 years.

Did you see a noticeable difference in fitness after quitting and pumps in the gym?

Will likely use gum, patches then eventually look to get rid of that just can’t afford to have my work performance drop for 2-3 weeks as I have a demanding job.

Any supps that assist? Magnesium?

Thanks in advance!!

Previous dipper and currently vape. Have quit vaping 3 or 4 times for about 2 months at a time, I’ll tell you right now, it’s going to be difficult but you can do it. Every time i have stopped I’ve used the gum, and it does help but obviously isn’t the same. The biggest con on the gum (I used Nicorette) is that it’s hard af and even after about 15 minutes your jaw will be sore as ****, my jaw actually started clicking some so I stopped in fear of TMJ. Haven’t tried anything else but I am planning on quitting again, so I’ll probably be trying patches next go. Wish I had more tips for you but that’s all I got.

Edited some for grammar and typos, so I don’t look like an illiterate retard.

I was a smoker for 10 years and then switch to vaping for 2 years. The nice thing about vaping is you can gradually lower the nicotine if you mix your own. When I quit, each month I would drop lower and lower until I was vaping zero nicotine. That way I knew all I had was the hand to mouth addiction after a couple weeks. After that, I put it away and never looked back. The first couple of days where a little rough but overall it wasn't that bad and for me it was much easier than quitting smoking. After a couple months I definitely had more energy in the gym. Best of luck!

Never vaped but smoked for years and quitting was the best thing I could have done

More stable mood, not planning my day with having enough cigs to survive, not smelling like an ash tray, better breathing, better gains and saving a lot of money

What helped me a lot is NAC. NAC is great for addictions and is great for lung health too.
Typical dosages range from 600mg-2400mg. I ran 2400mg for a few weeks and didn't feel like smoking at all. Was surprisingly easy for me.
Better to test it on the lower end first though.

I try to stick to energy drinks that have little to no sugar but on occasion I like a red eye with real sugar and cream.
I have a gorilla mind energy drink waiting on me today pre workout. They are pretty tasty and give me good energy!

Day 10 of no nicotine boys, I’ve done this a few times so I’m not out of the clear just yet. My eyes are set on 6 months. If I can do that, I feel confident in being done. I will say that using a nicotine free vape helped me so much, highly Recommend it. The muscle memory of sucking on something is real, lol.

I have a buddy (age 41) who had to quit cold turkey this spring when he had a "small" heart attack and this zero nicotine approach is what he did and worked great.

So a quick update. Been off 4 weeks now. Transitioned off and just use nicotene gum. First week was hard but then it got much easier. I thought I would feel a lot different but feel quite similar to how I was when vaping which is strange but not unheard of..

Yeah that’s awesome. Was expecting more symptoms like disturbed sleep but I actually haven’t had any.

That’s great, huge step!

i used to use swedish dry(white type) snus, maybe around 5-6 years ago, quitting was the best thing i ever did, i feel much better and look much better. i have had multiple bone graft my maxilla to try and regain bone loss to the areas i used to put the pouches. no fun missing teeth for over a year

I've never smoked anything. I wouldn't even smoke weed as the idea of smoking always did and still makes me recoil in horror. Thank God edibles came around. LOL. That said congrats to those that have quit and best of luck to those trying. It's deeply personal to me as both of my parents died young and both of smoking related illnesses. My mother was 56, my father 65. Don't quit quitting boys.

Same here. I'm not a smoker and realized early on that anything that makes me less able to workout and train hard i'm staying away from. Smoking is one those.

I quit many years ago, one of the hardest things I ever did. Pack a day. Gained a lot of weight despite exercise. Nicotine and smoking has been shown to be thermogenic and a great appetite suppressant. I quit a couple times before 2 or 3 years. I’m glad vaping wasn’t around when I was smoking it seems so convenient and would be hard to quit I think. Noticed a huge increase in cardio capacity, I think I gained weight also because you have to do something to replace the smoking, but years later it’s all good now. Glad I quit. Good luck to you man.

definitely an appetite suppressant. i remember when i quit i was craving gummy and chewy candy, i remember eating a 3lb bag of swedish fish in less than 8 hours

Good way to get your sugar and carbs in :ROFLMAO:

When I quit vaping, the first week was the roughest, but after that my mood and sleep kind of leveled out quicker than I expected. Honestly, the urge to have something in my hand lingered even after I switched to gum and patches, so I started drinking more water and carrying around stress balls just to keep busy. I did see a difference in my breathing after maybe 3-4 weeks, and my cardio in the gym got smoother, but my strength and pumps didn’t really jump until a couple months after quitting. If you’re ever in a spot where you’re having trouble tapering off with only gum or patches, I found that trying a Vaal E-Pack Vape with lower nicotine salt strengths helped me gradually step down before quitting completely. Just made the transition less intense for me.

Great advice, I used a Nicotine free vape to help quit and I really don’t think I could have done it without it. The muscle
Memory I think was my hardest thing.

I quit smoking ages ago. Used nicotine to help with the weight gain aspect. Very hard habit to break, and on breaks at work, wasn’t sure what to do lol.

OP how's it going? off the vape still

My wife was the smoker. She's recently stopped the vape entirely because she could not breath and the coughing fits kept her (us) awake at night. Been using prescribed inhalers from the Dr. and trying mullein to clear the lungs. It's a slow process. She has gone back to using real tobacco, to stave the cravings, but has to go outside to smoke so it's now at far less frequency. The vape pen just made it too easy.

thats the second time I have heard that now. my buddy did the same thing last year when he had a heart attack at age 40 (!!!) and last night my older buddy was telling me he had switched from zyns to a energy pouch because he had to have heart surgery last year and hasn't had any cravings since.

It’s crazy what the mind does during addiction. So anytime I see someone talking about quitting, I recommend that since it’s what helped me.

Yeah, the accessibility of a vape is insane with being able to do it indoors, the nicotine consumption is exponentially higher than regular regular smoking.

I smoked for 22 years, swtich to vape atleast 10 years ago, down to 3mg. make my own juice
my wife worked her way down to zero Nic about 3 years ago. vaped at zero for about 3 months for the hand to mouth habit. she has been nic free for 5 years.

Me I still need my Nic, I felt so much better working out when I gave up the smokes. just cant stop the vape. I can also vape in my office and that doesn't help. - when I go without i become a dick and my co-workers hate me 😁

that is literally exactly what my brother did and he said he felt he didn't have a nicotine addiction after all, just the hand to mouth habit.

I personally don't mind having a 3mg zyn on a day I'm fasting as a 'treat'. It doesn't mean I think its healthy, but I don't think its the worst thing I could do to my body either and I'm not pounding 3 x 6mg zyns while hitting a cig or anything. our state enacted a MASSIVE tax on them making them like $10.99/container now in 2026 so that makes it pretty easy to not overindulge lol. I have no interest in an $11/day habit or anything.
