Nasal Decongestant - Methods, Supplements, Sprays, Strips and Tips?

I struggle with fairly frequent nighttime stuffy nose and want to know how you guys deal with it. I have a deviated septum from my years kickboxing, and use cialis, smelling salts, and ephedra too much - which obviously makes it worse. I'll use Afrin once a week (for fear of dependency), but I seem to rebound halfway through the night and end up mouth breathing. Apart from cessation of those obvious culprits, and another surgery, are there any tips to keep nose clear throughout the night?

I have recently found Nose Strips to help a great deal. Also NAC really helps decongest/loosen stuffy nose, but I do wonder about it affecting sleep since it gives me mild energy. Salt water spray / netti pot helps. Occasionally I will use Hape too.

Anything else you guys have found?

How would ephedrine make it worse?

get Pseudoephedrine tablets not that PE stuff the one behind the counter

the original Sudafed the one they make meth out of get that... its better then nasal spray wont cause rebound congestion

So take it with a grain of salt, since there could be so many different things at play, but I've had similar issues in the past (and have a messed up nose haha).

Mine tended to float more around issues of allergens though so may be different.

I got a decently heft air filter for the bedroom, that seemed to really help with my morning and night issues.

When my allergies are particularly bad I'll take Quercetin (particularly SNS Immune Support), various mushrooms, and/or Spirulina to help out.
I agree the allergen aspect contributes. I have an air filter, take quercetin and I will add spirulina. Do you know what specific mushrooms help?
Thank you!

Flonase spray is what you are looking for. 2 sprays in each nostril before bed. I've been using it for years. The Breathe-Rite strips help as well but the Flonase is the real solution.
Thanks Pete! Do you know if there are any of the issues that come with Afrin? or is it more for daily use?

Yeah I love the behind the counter ephedrine (without guafinasin). Bronkaid, Primatine or generic. Is there a distinguishable difference between the Pseudoephedrine, Ephedrine Sulphate, Ephedrine HCL, or even Epinephren thats in Primatine Mist?
I think I usually get Ephedrine Sulphate.
Thanks man!

Does it not cause rebound? I guess I just assumed it would since Afrin seems to. I hope it doesnt. I'd rather the culprit be allergies and smelling salts.

Yup! And not only that, the store brands all work just as well and a decently lower price point!! (Dollar general, Target…etc)

I’ve recently become a huge fan of another OTC nasal spray by Bayer called “Astepro.” With my experience it’s far superior than Flonase and you seriously feel it opening your nasal passages.

will check it out

Used all that stuff smelling salts before: nose tork, skull smash lol old school powerlifter

So so the original Sudafed behind the counter not the PE stuff works and it doesn’t cause rebound congestion. I know I was addicted to freaking nasal spray many years ago

Tried nasal strips too—they really open things up! Also, using a humidifier made a surprising difference for me, keeping the air moist and helping congestion. Salt sprays and neti pots are solid go-tos. When stress and sleep get tangled, some gentle natural aids from sites like gomicromagic.com helped me relax enough to breathe easier.
