On Test for 3+ Years. Now I have extreme itching

Hey guys.....

So I started TRT about 3 years ago via a local clinic and ive always been a very good responder to the test. 200mg per week puts my levels in the 1000-1300 range. Last year, I wanted to donate blood to keep my RBC down and at that time I started some other brand of test that I got from another source. Soon after that I started getting itchiness all over my body but it wasn't that bad. I dealt with it for about 6 months till it got progressively worse.

Finally, about 45 days ago I stopped all test, went to an allergist and a blood doctor - the only suggestion was to stop the test so I immediately donated blood again to kick start the process, stopped the test and it got progressively better. I contacted a new doctor, got new pharma test about 10 days ago and started at a much lower dose of 100mg per week.........and boom....I got the itchiness back
again.

My question is, Has anyone had this happen? Should I be running Ethanate or Prop instead? I just cant take the idea of not being on test. My quality of life on ALL fronts is so much better.

Could be the carrier or solvent, maybe? I mean, it’s possible to be allergic to just about anything, but I’ve never heard of anyone being allergic to an ester of testosterone. Can’t say I’ve ran into anyone who has experienced itchiness from test either, aside from one dude who was pretty sure he was allergic to the carrier in Androgel, but that wasn’t the test itself either. So that said, have you tried different carriers like mct, grapeseed, or sesame oil? I might be way off, but it just seems like you might have developed an allergy to a carrier or solvent. Aside from that, perhaps your E2 is through the roof and water retention is making you itchy?

Great reply. I agree, it sounds like an allergy to something else in it besides the testosterone.

@Marne40 had a great reply above.

My first thought and question about this is that you started testosterone through a local HRT clinic and said that last year you started some other brand that you got from another source.

When you say that, are you saying that you started off on prescription testosterone from a pharmacy but then started getting testosterone from something other than an actual pharmacy?

When you started back, did you start back on the type/brand/source that you'd had you had started having the problems on?

There's a very high likelihood that your issue isn't the testosterone itself, but something in the carrier like he suggested above.

If you get it from a pharmacy and have no issues, then get it from a non-pharmacy source and have issues, that seems to be an issue with the source. Not saying anything negatively about whomever your source is, just that they may be using something in their carrier that doesn't agree with you.
