Clomid as TRT?

Slims

Well-known member
After months of tests my doctors have prescribed me TRT, in the form of Clomid...Well as at first anyway.
I've only ever known Clomid used as a SERM for PCT, so I'm a litte confused how this will work as a long term TRT treatment.

Has anybody else had or used Clomid as TRT or long term? If so, what kind of results did you have with it?

If I’m not mistaken, guys that are told they need TRT try clomid first as a way to jump start their natural production. I don’t know the amount of mgs to take nor the duration, but it is a tapered dose over time. If you search enough on this forum you should be able to find the info you need. I would try to jump start my natural production given the chance. I’m not anti TRT. I’ve been on for 11 years but I wish I had researched enough in the beginning and tried to jump start my natural production. Good luck.

Exactly what @sammpedd88 said. Clomid was first line although online clinics use enclomiphene now instead. But same results basically just enclo is a bit more specific. Also easier to manage than TRT so that’s a plus

Enclo is one isomer in clomid. Zuclomid causes emotional sided as it builds in some, but both are in regular clomid. It's about a 1.5week build for zu to fully saturate iirc. So any instant reaction or feeling is usually placebo.

What are the possibilities of anxiety coming off Enclomiphene…?
Can only say from personal experience but I have diagnosed anxiety issues and took enclomiphene for 6 months a while ago, stopped cold turkey and noticed nothing bad. If anything the enclo helped my anxiety issues as it is less severe than it was previously. Now I’m off anxiety meds and back on enclo for the test boosting

I’ve used Clomid both as a PCT and as a standalone “cycle”. I used to do 2 months ON of 25mg ed and it used to take my Test from 400-500 to 900-1100. I felt great on it.

If you’re not looking to do real cycles I think Clomid I can be a good way to boost your Test levels “naturally”.

Exactly the kind of response/reply I was hoping for! Thank you!

Did you get any estrogenic side effects on Clomid, such as water retention? Is there any other supplements you'd recommend whilst on Clomid, to either enhance it's effects or minimize sides?

I was prescribed Clomid to attempt to jumpstart natural TRT production before I was prescribed TRT. The procedure was:
1. Sleep study for obstructive sleep apnea
2. Attempt to jumpstart production with Clomid (it is my understanding tha tthere are other compounds that are frequently used now)
3. TRT. Typically, you will be prescribed gel or something like that but the appropriate thing to say is "I have a wife/girlfriend/small child and I am concerned about the testosterone rubbing off on them, can I get injectable" and you will walk out with a prescription for Test C (or E in Europe).

I did not get water retention, as far as I remember (it was a long time ago.) I did, however, get other extremely memorable side effects like getting weepy and incredibly emotional. I can 't say it was fun, but it did give me some insight into the female psyche.

25mg eod enclomiphene citrate took me from the low 400s to mid 900s total T, took a year, but I'm in my mid 60s. Clomid is pretty much obsolete and has too many negative sides.

I didn’t see any major Estro sides, it was a little high, if remember correctly it was in the 60’s but that doesn’t bother me. You’re fine running Clomid by itself but you can use an OTC Test booster if you want or something to lower your E, it’s up to you. I used to run by itself and then use a OTC Test booster after.

When I run enclo I use something like inhibit e. Not necessarily because I need it but it’s cheap and I know it’s going to put my ratio in a good spot

I was on clomid for trt for like 7 years BUT it was only because we were trying to have kids ( ex wife and i back when we were married) no reason to start wtih that excpet a gunshy doc

I am seeing elevated E2 and SHBG on enclomiphene. Anyone know any compounds to reduce SHBG (other than straight TRT)?

My test went from 310 to 1200 with 12.5 mg/day enclom and 12.5 mg / day of dhea. Also running inhibit E and spilanthes xt from SNS with it. @sns8778 .

Estro went from <6 to 49. LH and FSH went from like 4 to 12. SHBG went up but by much much less than total T so free T was way way above normal . Rest of labs looked ideal. Provider was very happy .

I’m on TRT/compounded not RC . It does not give me anxiety the way clomid has in past

I think I’m a little bit of an ideal responder … at least for now, haven’t been taking long enough to see if the gonadotropin surge is just a sugar high and I’m going to settle back in with like a 650 test

Feel great, joints quit hurting (presumably from increased estrogen) , sleeping better, not tired during day, anxiety is better . Libido through the roof

Only negative … at about the 3 month mark started getting delayed ejaculation to almost an annoying degree.

Briefly hopped off and it went away, decided to do a little 8 week run of 1-dhea and I’m about to finish that and hop back on. I may try some oxytocin with it if the DE comes back and see if it helps

I may also need to try it without the spilanthes. I added it midway and it seemed like it made the enclom better tbh . I doubt it was causing the DE but by limiting it I can find out for sure. I also was prescribed 0.125 of adex to use as needed twice weekly but didn’t start because inhibit E was keeping my numbers in check. I may try the adex if DE comes back

3,4 Divanillutetrohydrofuran (stinging nettle extract )

Apex alchemy has a transdermal that has great reviews , haven’t tried personally yet

Boron

Look at Cel M test
Or BLR Viron

Pretty sure 3,4 has human studies proving it does
I know boron does @sns8778

Cel mtest has both

I also agree with this. As good as my response is, the real reason to be using it is preserve future fertility

Once I have my next kid I will have my TRT clinic switch me to test c . Suspect they will prescribe160-200 a week and I will probably cruise on 100-120 most of the year with HCG.

I’m not trying to be a mass monster , just feel good and have a muscular athletic and lean look for my age . Not stepping on the stage , just want to look better than the other little league dads . Will throw in some 11-kt, potentially some low dose clinic presribed var if the clinic is still allowed to prescribe it several years from now like they do for some patients now

Thing about enclom. It’s great for me now, it’s great for preserving fertility BUT

it’s a synthetic estrogen. It doesn’t have much long term data ( it’s old and well studied but clomid data is from women using it for fertility very very short term). The potential vision problems could be a real concern as it’s prescribed more and more and used long term. It’s too soon to know yet

They've prescribed 25mg of Clomid every day, at 12.5mg twice per day, but as a first option. They'll be regular blood tests to monitor levels, and if Clomid doesn't work they'll move onto cream/gel.

Personal experience - clomid felt great, raised my LH and FSH and free T, however made me extremely emotional (intense mood swings) as well, as got me white flashes and vision problems. As soonest as i stopped, vision returned to normal and everything else slowly tapered off.

Just curious was your dr was doing regular labs and checking your E2?

Only before and and few weeks after i stopped.
I don't remember the exact numbers but E2 went super high, SHBG was also elevated.
I took DIM and boron for a while along with some adaptogens. Interestingly enough LH & FSH were still higher after a year than pre-clomid treatment.

I doubt it would be Spilanthes XT causing any issues with delayed ejaculation. There are some sexual health studies and erection quality studies and no reports of delayed ejaculation.

I take it in Optimize-T myself and don't notice any delay. It takes me too long to finish anyway, so anything that delays it any longer would make me not want to use it. But I've had no issues with it.

I wish I did think it caused delayed ejaculation bc if so, it would sell like crazy to people that would want that haha.

Yeah the emotional sides you are having were definitely from high E2. That’s good your LH and FSH are still up. That’s the purpose of running clomid in an attempt to jump start your natural T production instead of jumping right on TRT. Again I’m not anti TRT at all. I’ve been on it for 11 years. I just wish I knew clomid was an option for me in the beginning.

How’s your T levels now?

It’s most likely from the Enclom , it’s definitely been reported with regular clomid. I was more just vomiting my thoughts of my experience in which I think the Spilanthes has enhanced . I just can’t be sure what caused it until I run the enclom completely solo

The extract SNS uses in Spilanthes XT I think actually has some very favorable data at boosting gonadotropins and subsequently testosterone. I’m not sure how much it would help primary but I swear with all the test boosters I’ve tried the single ingredient y’all sell does the most for me and also seems to increase the size of the boys and the volume they produce substantially

Enclo is completely different side effect wise than Clomid so you can’t necessarily compare them. Having that junk part removed and just having enclo gets rid of a lot of sides.

If you can get enclom it is better IMO. The emotional sides are not near as high.

To be honest enclom/clomid has become an easy button in the TRT world since it’s not a controlled substance , doesn’t cause permanent suppression in a world where more and more guys are asking for TRT.

If you actually need TRT a clinic should be looking at what options are best for an individual , not practicing off an algorithm where they start enclom first then move to gel then to injections. If they are practicing that way I kind of question their true understanding of it

The only real reason to be on Clomid/enclo for HRT is to preserve future fertility , or because the provider doesn’t believe that the patient really needs HRT, or is pure secondary hypo with a reversible cause, so they don’t want to risk permanently suppressing them or prescribe a CS. While the medication is certainly felt to be safe short term, the long term data isn’t there and the vision concerns are real. It’s a synthetic estrogen, can cause DVTs in those predisposed

I’m on Enclom, so I’m not anti. I’m just saying that if someone is truely hypogonadal, treatment is a life long commitment anyways and the safety profile of hrt doses of testosterone IM/subq are much well understood. The treatment response is also much more predictable

Agree. The emotional sides are night and day. Not sure on the DE I got because this is the first time I have taken either longer than 6 weeks. In my previous experiences I typically would keep clomid to 2 weeks while running tapering Tamox for 6. The sides are why I limited the length with clomid

Everything on the vision is in case reports because neither has large scale studies in hypogonadal men long term. There aren’t any with enclom but it’s so new who knows. I’ve seen isolated reports online but who knows if those are placebo or not

What dose of Clomid did you use when got sides? I never had any sides on Clomid, if anything it made me feel great.

25 ED with clomid after a few weeks and I’m anxious, and emotional .

Haven’t had it with 12.5 enclom which is basically the same dose because 25 clomid = 12.5 enclom and 12.5 zuclom. Zuclom acts more like an estrogen so removing that theoretically gives same results but less sides

Only thing with the enclom has been some DE after I’ve been on it for a few months

I don't think enclomiphene is available here yet. I have officially been diagnosed with hypogonadism though. From my understanding they want to start with/try Clomid first as it has the least side effects. I have SNS Inhibit-E on the way which should help with the estrogen/emotional side effects.

Gotcha , watch for the vision sides . If you are more a secondary hypogonadism picture it will work well as far as numbers . The inhibit E will help you metabolize estrogens better if it sends yours up. Not everyone gets the emotional symptoms , if you do it could be because estrogen is high , if not it’s because clomid is a synthetic estrogen (it’s just a mixed agonist / antagonist depending on which tissue ). Some guys do real well with it, hope it works well for you .

I'm hoping that the split dosing will also help, 12.5mg twice per day instead of 25mg once per day.

@sns8778 If I stacked PCT Assist with the Inhibit-E, would it be too much DHAA?

I don't think so. We have a lot of people that stack those 2 and like the stack.

Did the DIM and Boron work to lower your SHBG?
Dim worked on E2, it actually crashed it completely and my joints got super dry. This stuff is more potent that one would think.
Boron was for shbg. It was either this or the adaptogens, however can't say for certain.

Can't say for certain as I'm overdue for a blood work. I feel pretty good (better than pre-clomid), however i also run m-test most of the year.

How much boron were you taking? I've found NOW Foods Boron (Albion) 3mg caps.

For the next twelve weeks...

Morning (Upon Waking)
12.5mg Clomid
2 caps of CEL PCT Assist
1 cap of SNS Inhibit-E
6mg NOW Boron (Albion)

Evening (With Food)
12.5mg Clomid
2 caps of CEL PCT Assist
1 cap of SNS Inhibit-E
6mg NOW Boron (Albion)

Will be taking all of the regular staples (Orange Triad, Creatine, Vitman D3, Fish Oil, etc) alongside this and update with bloodwork comparison in twelve weeks time.
