Best clear protein options out now?

I am getting pretty tired of slamming traditional shakes. I'd like to know what you guys like as far as clear protein options out now. I will get an Isopure at the gym every once in a while but they are pricey and last year went from 40 to 30g of protein. Their powdered version didnt taste right and took forever to dissolve.

What else is out there?

Isopure is gross imo.

My protein has the best flavor and pricing. Their mango pineapple is amazing.

Apollon put out a 50/50 clear/casein that works great for an intra. A meal while you lift 👍💪

Thank you! Sounds perfect. Ordered a few to sample. No mango pineapple but I got mango peach.

Also agree about the isopure being gross and they cheaped out on 10gs of protein!

Love a more refreshing cold clear few extra grams of protein to be able to go to post workout though.

As much as I hate to admit it, Muscletechs Clear Whey has good flavours. Just mixes a little frothy (which settles after 5mins or so).

I just bought a bunch of others Ive yet to try...

Tbjp
Nutrabio
Animal
Raw nutrition

I much prefer using these protein-water products as an intra vs EAA. Add some hbcd and Im good to go.

Thanks @Nac I'll check MT and the others out. I have found the same thing re: the froth with the Isopure powder. I ended up making a pitcher and putting it in the fridge overnight to dissolve. Worked pretty well.

I have been thinking of throwing a scoop in my intra instead of EAA. Anything of note with the switch? Also what is "hbcd"?

I also like the Muscletech clear. Haven't had the Nutrabio since it came out but thought it was great flavor. Id like to know if anyone tried the new Fruit Punch.

I’ve been close to doing this now that there are options like this. I haven’t done the math on the price comparisons yet though.

Honestly I only switched from EAAs because I thought a complete whey/protein source would be "better".

Me too. I recently grabbed 3 containers of clear isolate from 1UpNutrition. Lemon ice ,peach rings and orange. They are so good man. Give it a shot. I mix it with Gatorade zero and ice.

Don't know about the best I can tell you to stay far away from Finaflex Clear protein. I don't really care a lot about what a protein tastes like if the formula is good but Finaflex Clear is by far the worst tasting I've ever had. Undrinkable in my opinion.

I use myoprotein clear whey, I believe its the mango flavour but I could be wrong. Its by far the best tasting protein I have ever had, doesn't even feel like drinking protein powder, tastes exactly like juice. But its really sweet so if your not into super sweet things I'd get a different flavour.

I haven't tried it but that's what I've heard as well. Sounds like it would be a good dessert replacement option.

Yes definitely, it tastes amazing. The only problem i have is that when you put it into a blender there's a crap ton of bubbles compared to other protein powders which makes it weird to drink.

Ok, you got me intrigued now. I love Lemon Italian Ice. I may have to get this.

I received Myprotein order today and I am pleased! Tried Mike & Ike Caribbean Punch 1lb on sale for ~$20 this month. Great flavor, took about 5 minutes to dissolve (which is fairly quick compared to IsoPure) and was colored by Spirulina rather than food dye. I was able to do intense cardio after chugging it, which would not have been the case had that been traditional whey. I am sold on clear - and myprotein, though I am curious about the other suggestions mentioned.

If theres anyone like me who prefers tangy fruit flavours, the Iso Jym grape is a goodie. I typically like lemon/lime variants, but this grape has a nice tangy-sweet blend.

I'm seeing a lot of 25 serv, 20gm per serving $36+ tax and shipping let's say $42-45? About $2 a serving (I guess its actually more like 2/3 serving cus of the 20gm. So if you base it on price per gram of protein it's a bit more. I can justify 1-2 servings a day of it goes down like water or juice

You’re literally smoking crack. My protein is absolute horrific taste, **** me I have 2 bags of it I can’t even touch anymore.

Try Per4m protein, best protein you’ll ever taste in your life. Their carrot cake one is insane. I have it with Greek yoghurt

We're talking clear. You are taking about milk shakes. I agree, I don't buy that from them.

The future is CLEAR.

Many of us wasted time drinking EAA's all day. This is what we should be drinking. A complete protein.

Protein synthesis never stops this way.

no1 is wasting time on eaas unless Trying to use them to replace whole food meals completely which doesn't make any sense to begin with. It will still form complete protein because if your regularly eating whole food meals the other amino acids are already floating around in your bloodstream. If someone gave me a option to keep only 1 natty supplement in my arsenal I would choose creatine, but #2 would be eaas. I'm a big believer in intraworkout nutrition and creatine, eaa and simple carbs is my jam!

Edit: I see you said EAA all day. Your right, we shouldn't be doing that. We also shouldn't be sipping protein shakes all day. We should be using them when we cant eat solid food.

What are the additional benefits from Clear vs Whey? Are you sure this isn't marketing BS again lol. Whey protein is Whey protein

Totally agree.

The clear is nice because it's refreshing. Like drinking juice or a high quality sports drink. So I drink it all day, with and without my meals. You don't get full on clear. It's been working great for me personally.

What are the additional benefits from Clear vs Whey? Are you sure this isn't marketing BS again lol. Whey protein is Whey protein

Keep trolling. I could care less if you want clear. More for us.

One is like water and one is like a frothy shake. This whole thread is about alternative to regular shakes. Drink a glass of water and then drink a milkshake. that is the difference. They dont want shakes. Yes, whey is whey, but this thread is about consistency, texture, that bloated full feeling. They dont want those things.

The benefit is many ppl dont prefer a frothy shake. This isint a 1 is better then the other. You guys are arguing over your personal preferences on taste and consistency and this thread is about ppl wanting a Protein shake that is the consistency of water or similar so that it's easier to get down

You have no understanding of what trolling is buddy. Nothing I said is trolling at all. I asked what are the actual benefits. You can't give any actual scientific benefit as to why its superior over normal whey (it isn't). Keep your little timmy in your pants

Thanks for the clarification, is what I thought to be the case, when it was stated "clear is the future" I thought it might be some new science regarding protein synthesis etc, but I see its just a preference on taste of whey

not so much about taste as much as it is texture and consistency when talking clear vs regular whey

For me, clear whey is like drinking a fruit juice rather than a milkshake. Thats all there is to it.

I remember the old Nectar. Wasn't 100% clear but man it tasted great IMO.

Benefits are obvious. You asked a question already answered multiple ways. Plus you said I smoke crack from the start. A joke reply I should have ignored.

There is no actual benefit, it’s your preference. You obviously don’t enjoy whey and clear appeals to you more. That’s great, but what you prefer is a personal benefit not a colloquial one. There is no actual science pointing towards clear having a single benefit over whey, so yes, I’m allowed to call you out on stating multiple times “benefits are obvious, clear is the future”, as I believe you’re misguiding.

Heaven forbid someone make a light hearted gesture in regards to one of your posts.

I’m not even sure why I replied to you as it’s obvious it’ll fall on deaf ears. Best of luck

You're overthinking and tearing my words apart to make whatever point you feel you need to feel superior. The future is clear is a fun play on words man. Chill out. I've been using it for 5+yrs. Many have already mentioned the benefits. It's not filling like a milk shake and is like drinking a normal beverage but you get a solid dose of protein. Pretty simple to understand and it's great. If you are trying to add muscle and drank it daily on top of your meals you would be happy with your results. Just offering solid advice I follow myself. I wish it was marketing as I'd be 🤑 lol. Have a good day.

I drink my protein shakes on top of meals & have Greek yoghurt + protein powder in the evening. Very happy with the results, I enjoy whey myself. I can see the appeal to Clear don't get me wrong & may try it in the future.

I think it would be enjoyable post workout to be honest, I may order some

I might have to check this out. The whey my wife picked up at costco is blending seemlessly into my coffee now which is great cause back in the day I could never get protein to blend with hot coffee without massive chunking... so I was enjoying 25g protein mocha's saturday and sunday morning this weekend thanks to her magical little blender stick thing.

That said.... You sold me on Mike & Ike 😅

Yea man I really wasn't trying to argue. I think we just were miscommunicating. Sorry, I just really love this ****.

I eat 4-6 whole food meals a day. I'll drink 60-120g of clear on top of that. If I tried that with the milk shake style, I'd probably be able to eat less whole food or feel force fed to get it all in.

I agree whey is whey. It's not better as far science. But the way I use it for myself it is better because of what I said above.

Anyone who gets that amount in with milk has my respect 😄

I'm glad and hopeful that both of you got any miscommunication worked out. I really like both of you, and from an outside perspective, I think it was just a genuine misunderstanding, which thankfully did seem to get figured out a bit as the thread went on.

I think, and can't speak for anyone, but I think that Josh's comment about smoking crack was meant to be a joke bc he's in the UK/EU and I've even had UK retailers say that to me as a way of saying I'm crazy for the hours I work, like they'd say 'you must be smoking crack, its 2am there and you're emailing me' - when it would be like me saying - man, you're crazy, that flavor is terrible.

And Josh, I've heard from retailers there and they linked me to some marketing there where some brands have tried to claim that clear whey was better than others from when it first came out so I can see why from your perspective you may be tired of seeing it marketed that way over there when the way its marketed like that isn't true - but to my knowledge, no one markets it that way here in the US, so that's why he didn't understand why you were thinking he was saying it was better. He was just talking about it in terms of taste preference and that he liked it bc it was easier to sip on and not as heavy on the stomach.

I remember when I had started the thread asking for protein flavor suggestions for SNS if we did a protein, that Danksta contributed a lot to that thread and we were discussing clear whey and how popular its gotten here and its grown a lot since then. That started on page 3 in this thread:

Anyway, we just don't have a lot of really good and helpful members left, and both of you are, so I just wanted to explain how it seems so that neither of you would think negatively of the other and see where the other was coming from.

I had just checked this thread to follow along to see what people like, because we do plan to offer a protein in the near future and hopefully do a clear one not long behind the regular one.

I drink a lot of protein and I do use regular most of the time, but I do enjoy clear especially when its hot and when/if I can find flavors that I like and don't get tired of quickly.

When I'm training properly, I drink 4 or more shakes a day - bc of my food allergies, its much easier to drink my protein than to eat as much of it as a lot of people do.

I can drink 4 shakes a day with unsweetened Almond Milk, but regular milk is too filling for me to do it.

I remember the old Nectar. Wasn't 100% clear but man it tasted great IMO.

It was awesome. The only protein powder I could drink or actually eat by the spoon/scoop.

The Mike & Ike is tasty! ...and not a bad price if you get the deal I got. Though fair warning, I may have oversold the dissolving speed of MyProtein clear. In my experimenting, some flavors I've found dissolve / clump more than others. Ex: Cola clumps up and takes about 1hr to fully dissolve. (Flavor is okay and I am experimenting with sparkling water to up the illusion) Depending on the amount you shake and the flavor MyProtein can take anywhere from 5 mins to 1 hr. Ive been mixing them up beforehand and putting them in the fridge or gym bag, and thats been working for me.
I'm still happy and getting way more protein in, but I didnt want you expecting the perfect dissolve like your morning coffee (a damn satisfying feeling).

For some reason I cant "like" anymore, but just wanted to chime in and say I think it was definitely a misunderstanding. I may have falsely assumed that the consensus in the thread was Clear was superior from a scientific point of view, but like Steve said, I'm very aware of a lot of mislabeling of Clear in the UK. And yes, as Steve says, "are you smoking crack" is a light hearted joke here in the UK, meant no offense!

@Danksta710 any flavour of clear you recommend, might just grab 1 to try it out

All good. Just a misunderstanding. Hopefully the like feature returns.

The mango pineapple from MP is top of my list as I like tropical stuff. The Mike and Ike's are nice too. I've taken their lemonade and sour watermelon and mix up a tasty mix.

For the foam, my trick is I use my blender. I fill it with water, put 3+ scoops in, put the lid on, then fill in more water through the spout. Blend that and keep that in the fridge. Foam settles within 5-10min and you got refreshing protein on hand.

Bummer they over marketed it like that as it sounds like that turned some ppl off.

I like to say the Future is Clear as a fun play on words. I really think more ppl are going to be using it more once they realize what it is and how it could be used for GAINS! 💪

When on sale from MP you can often get a tub for $20 too.

for what it's worth I just had 25g of chocolate whey in my coffee with no clumping using one of these. I know whey isn't the subject necessarily, but I've been shocked at how well this thing works. I'm a bit creamer guy, I can do black coffee when I'm on a cut, but it's awesome to be able to get that extra protein in and enjoy my coffee:
