What’s the dirt on DHEA?

After randomingly getting bloodtesting indicating borderline low dhea, i started taking a micronized dhea sublingually and am experiencing some amazing results after a few days. Feeling like this is too good to be true and fearing some kind of repercussion, i took to the boards and, honestly, i cant get a read on this in here: on AM, testimonies range from “it doesnt do anything besides raise my estrogen” to “this raises test” or “it raises free test” or “it is suppressive. Strangely, Amazon user reviews pretty much either rave about it as energizing, leaning them out, making them swole when abusing it, or not doing anything. Has anyone been able to wrap their head around this? I would imagine amazon reviewers wouldnt know if their estrogen was raised or not, as only certain demographs of people test for that. Is there anyone with blood tests indicating that it raised their test or free test? If so, were you deficient in dhea prior to taking it. Im disinclined to believe this is skyrocketing people’s test levels and is still being sold on store shelves. So where are the benefits im getting coming from? Am i possibly noticing an increase in test, and if so, only because inwas deficient in dhea? Are the benefits im experiencing unrelated to test and rather the benefit of having more of this adrenal hormone in my system? I welcome any thoughts and insights on this, because the testimonies out there are extremely contradictory

Can you post the rest of your relevant #s? .... Like Total Test, Free Test, Anything labeled Estrogen .... Along with their ranges for that specific testing?

I had bloodwork a few months ago before starting dhea. My total test was 525. I dont have a number for free test at the moment; my doc had it but it somehow isnt listed in my results; as i recall there was room for improvement there but it wasnt considered medically low. I didnt test for estrogen because ive never had a reason to; i dont have alot of flab, and ive never noticed benefits from anti-estrogen herbs. The dosage for the micronized dhea is 100mg

Only been on dhea for a few days. Im noticing more muscle fullness, waves of euphoria that is offsetting my normal doms and aches, and more energy and a sense of endurance. Prior to dosing, my dhea was 130 where a range was posted at about 30-700. My doc thought nothing of my dhea as it fell within the range.View attachment 227376

DHEA is pretty weird. Apparently if you removed all of it from a person, they would still function just fine. Yet it still is involved in so much in the human body. It does act as a precursor to most steroid hormones, so it could be that you just feel better with slightly higher test, estrogen, or both than you did before. It also has some neurological benefits, so it could be a direct effect from the DHEA itself. Hard to say, but if you feel great, stick with it. Why not.

That’s interesting about people functioning without it.

I normally feel like we know a supplement is good based on how it makes us feel, but with hormones that gets tricky; i imagine people feel great on test right up until they devlope gyno. There are people taking the micronized form im on that report getting dhea test levels over double the upper normal range on 100mg, and then you have reviewers on amazon saying theyve been on 200mg/day for 35 years. One guy said he was doing 600mg/day. I thought these boards were filled with dermacrine users who would have their 2 cents on the matter, such as bloods indicating raised test, suppressed test, increased estrogen, increased free test, or decreased dhea after discontinuing. Actually, im not convinced there is a problem with the 600mg/day; there was a study that did 1600/day for 6 months, but that was regular dhea and taken orally.
