Mouthpieces

Has anyone tried these?

They're pretty highly reviewed, though I don't know anyone personally who has tried these.

Reviews say they improve strength and performance...can anyone validate this??

Only thing I know is a lot of powerlifters use them. I think science shows it even reduces cortisol spikes. Not sure how much skin I put in that game but I am considering getting one for heavy lifts

Are we talking about this specific mouthpiece or wearing one in general?

I wear a mouth piece for boxing and grappling but not lifting. I have tho heard that biting down on something can increase force production. Idk how much of a difference it makes tho.

Maybe il pop it in on deadlift and see what happens?

I used one when I was power lifting. It seemed to make some of my sessions feel a bit easier.

Back when I did grappling, I hated wearing a mouth guard. Idk, just always made my breathing awkward regardless of the type. Contact stuff though, gotta have it.

I have thought about using one, I bit down hard during some lifts and my teeth/gums get sore ??

The breathing factor makes me hate it too, but if you don't practice with it in then when it's time to fight of have a submission tournament or whatever you choose, now you gotta wear one and you gas out faster.

I'm gonna do a little experiment, I'm gonna test a few lifts with and without a spot, with and without the mouthpiece, and then variations of that and il report back in a few weeks 🤷

Deadlift
Squat
Bench
Shoulder Press

Bout best I can do.

I did notice that when I did a bench press competition in October that some of the guys wore mouthpieces, not many but a few definitely did

This brand I posted has a gap so u can breathe with it if need be, though I read the premise is to breathe through the nose.

Also this brand is $40 a mouthpiece or I'd just buy one and test it myself if it were like $5-10

Newage is pretty time tested. Definitely still a minority of users, but you definitely do see it in modern strongman at every level.

I don’t have a biting/clenching problem, so I don’t wear one. I have a few friends who do.

Impact is another decent brand.

I might pick one up then to try for boxing, if that gap makes breathing better while still providing the protection in the ring it's worth $40 to me, given it's not super bulky
