Anyone take magnesium?

I like glycinate at 400mg daily.

one thing here is that not only are most people deficient in it, if you take D3 the conversion to a usable form in the body also uses and depletes magnesium levels, so you are putting yourself even further in the hole.

Threonate is also a great option.

Following along.

Why glycinate over any other?

Magnesium oxide any good? Does it increase your anxiety? I feel my anxiety has increased a bit on it…?
That's the worst one as far as i know, its the magnesium version of rust and very poorly absorbed. Look at all the cheapest mag supps and they'll have oxide in them because its cheap crap

I guess I f***ed up there then…?

Pretty sure there’s at least one study showing that form can improve sleep. But there’s way better options. You can get away with ones that are bonded to organic acids like citrate or malate. But amino acid bound ones seem to be best. Glycinate, taurate, and threonate are good. I think threonate is supposed to be the best at reaching the brain. I think aspartate and gluconate are also pretty good.

Glycinate, taurate, and threonate.
These 3 or GTFO. Everything else is trash. Glycinate is the best in my experience

Any form is better than nothing.

I prefer glycinate, malate, citrate. Now makes a good softgel that combines the three even though they call it Mag Citrate on the front(no idea wise as Tri-MAG would be a much better name.)

I used to be on meds for muscle spasms in my back, tizanidine and ketorolac, and as long as I stay on top of my mag I have no issues and no longer use these meds ever.

I am going to try this one next time as we had a customer request it and I like to try things when appropriate so I can give first hand information:

thanks for the input guys! So I tried it again and my anxiety went up again. It’s strange! I can’t seem to sleep on it properly either and I wake up with a nasty headache through the day
I never felt good taking magnesium until I took the glycinate version. I take 200mgs before bed. I get the dr.s best version and it lasts a good while. It’s also only like $18. Worth looking into!

yes everyday , tried biglycinate for sleep but didnt help so just taking citrate as much as my stomach can handle

It makes it hard for me to sleep
It is so weird you say this because I when I first started taking glycinate I was at 400mg daily and tried it before bed like most people. Three times I tried it I was anxious and didn't sleep a wink. I didn't understand because I mean it is literally for relaxation and sleep. I tried same product and dosage in the morning, and have not had either issue since. It might be something testing out. I don't know why it does that to us though, we must be broken

Could be the glycine? After seeing the studies on glycine for sleep, I got some to use in a sleep stack I was putting together. Took me like a week to figure out I couldn’t sleep after taking glycine.

I use Swanson’s Triple Magnesium Complex.

Oxide, Citrate, Aspartate - probably largely oxide as it’s a blend.

It absolutely resolved my previous dietary deficiency. I used to have routine muscle spasms from training; now I don’t. $10 for 10 month supply (300x400mg caps) on frequent sales.

I don’t like to major in the minors anymore with my supports, because annual cost (and daily pill intake) really adds up. Everything has to have a very real reason.

If you need sleep or relaxation support, or are running something like Tren, you want to spring for Glycinate. Most of the amino-bound ones are found to possess different effects in studies, so the greater cost can be justified for some.

I take ZMA everyday !

I currently take 500mg of Magnesium Glycinate, before bed.
I Think it helps with relaxation and sleep, but honestly I'm not sure because I currently also take Ramelteon.

I don’t feel anything different taking mag pre bed.

l-theanine works better for relaxing purposes in my case.

I take both but I would agree that L-Theanine definitely kicks in better for me for winding down my mind and falling asleep.
