Whisk(e)y

I've been a big fan of the Four Roses Single Barrel recently - amazing on the rocks! I know Blantons is a big thing right now, and I think it's good, but I don't think it's worth the hype...or 2-300 a bottle.

Oban is one of my favorites. Cost wise it’s not bad for what it is.

I love me some bourbon.

It was my beverage of choice.

I haven't had any for a long time ... note to self ...

One of my personal favorites but certainly not worth 200-300. It's good for an occasional fancy date night though.

Lately I've been working my way through and enjoying all the Buffalo Trace brands.

Blanton’s is good bourbon but definitely not worth hundreds on the secondary market. I’ll buy it at retail if I can find it but I don’t seek it out anymore like I used too

Buffalo Trace is my favorite distillery. If you ever get a chance to go to KY, you’ll really enjoy it. My wife isn’t a bourbon drinker but absolutely loved doing the bourbon tours.

Blantons is 2-300? I have 3 bottles at my restaurant and we paid nowhere near that

It’s supposed to be well under 100 dollars a bottle but I haven’t ever seen it for that price. Local liquor store near me charges 165 when they can actually get it in stock

I went through a lot of phases but whiskey was my drink of choice for a long time. It actually turned into a bottle a day habit at one point.
I do miss a nice crown on the rocks, or a piss warm shot of jack Daniels.

Makers Mark was another I over indulged in lol🤷

Makers Mark 46 is good, especially with Coke. No, not THAT coke, Coca Cola! :)

Because if you're going to indulge a vice, indulge that sucker GOOD lol

It goes good with the other coke too .......
😂😂😂

I gave everything up, I wasn't a good in moderation person so I Just decided one day that I should stop doing everything altogether and get my ass back to the gym

I think I paid $60 a few months back. Doesn’t even sell

Absolutely. I can't say I've tried this one, though.
One of my all time faves. George T Stagg and Stagg Jr as well.

It’s worth it’s retail, 60-70 bucks on the shelf. Hoarders and scalpers have ruined the whiskey market with secondary pricing. I’d be willing to bet if it didn’t have a horsey topper cork it wouldn’t get a second look 🤣

Mmmmmmmmmm, scotch is where it all began!

Everything in moderation, even moderation?

Buff Trace has Park Place and Boardwalk for sure.

EH Taylor is a great line of bourbons/whiskey. I have several bottles of the small batch and a bottle of the single barrel.
Even their small batch is great juice. Those Civil War era rickhouses have some magic.

Same. Damn tragedy.

Kentucky trip planned for next year. I’ll be driving because I am going to fill up my car with treasure.

Past few months with all the crap going on it got out of control. Supply chain issue, demand>production, global market demand and secondary market azzholes. Supposedly glass shortage this year so get ready for more madness.

Don’t pay that for Blanton’s. He gets it for $40 so kindly tell him to fahk off because he is part of the problem.

Same for me in my past. I keep it a rarity these days because of this fact. Actually haven’t had a drop in 4 weeks now. Whiskey and deadlifts soon maybe?

You mix a good bourbon like Marker’s 46 with soda?? Damn come on man. Good bourbon is not made to mix. If you’re gonna mix it with soda then just drink Jack or Jim.

I've done worse 😆

But yeah, there are other options in the liquor cabinet for mixing

I don't know much about whiskeys myself, but my friend likes them and lets me taste different kinds he has. This is my favorite so far:

If you like peaty and smokey, try some Ardbeg. One of my personal favorites for Scotch.
That does ring a bell. I think it's one of my friends favorites too. I seem to like 'easy' 🤷‍♂️ and fruity. Like the Glenlivet is.

Speysides are a good option. Also look into ones that have been finished in a sherry, port or run cask. Most people who dislike Scotch find these very good!

New release. Cream of Kentucky Rye! Haven’t tried yet as I’ve been 100% sober for 5 weeks now. But I’ve heard good whispers….

I do enjoy a quality dram from time to time. Anyone else?

I have a pour usually 4-5 nights a week. That E.H. Taylor is very very good. One of my favorites. I used to be a huge bourbon guy and had over 100 bottles. I swapped over to Scotch and now I don't drink bourbon anymore and have close to 100 bottles of Scotch.

Any name drops on scotch?

Scotch is we here it all began for me and still one of my favorites. Love a heavy Islay! I’ll be rewarding myself after this training cycle :)

I haven't tried a Bourbon in years. Was going through the catalog of my local licquer store online and might pick this up some day.

Man I could talk for hours about it as I'm somewhat of a Scotch snob but if you are just getting into Scotch I would look into:

Balvenie 12 Doublewood - I usually give this to my buddies who prefer bourbon but have never really tried Scotch
Macallan 12 Sherry Oak
Oban 14
Glendronach 12
Edradour 10
Glenmorangie 10
Deanston 12

Those are all very good yet affordable and readily available.

If you like the peated/smokey scotch then I would highly recommend Lagavulin 16, Laphroig 10 or Arbeg 10 for starters.

Hope this helps!

Solid list

I recently converted my friend (who hated scotch) with Glendronach Port Wood. That’s an easy drinker for bourbon goers to dip their toes.

Both. Geography heavily dictates nuances
Ah, okey. Well the Glenlivet 12 I shared above is my favorite so far. So I guess "fruity, golden yellow, chocolatey", lol (that's from a licquer store website description).

That particular bottle is nothing special. At the very least (and same price point) find an Eagle Rare. It’s the exact same juice (Buffalo Trace mashbill #1) but aged for 10 years. If you want to check out the entry level BT anyways.

Lol yes I am familiar with Buffalo Trace distillery.
Do you have good access to American bourbons in scandavia?
Not that good. With a quick glance, I can find a few dozen different bourbons domestically (I assume they're all or most American). If ordering from another country like Germany, then there's more options. But it would have to be a bigish order with a group of friends to make up the shipping costs.

Found it ✌
