For anyone not knowing what Im talking about, its called "Operation Cyclone." At its time it was the biggest and most costly CIA operation in their history....and people think we can do the same thing over and over again expecting different results, which Im not talking about Afghanistan but pretty much most places we intervene. At the end of the day its a great way of profiting off of tax payers.

Dont forget all the investment the US made since the late 70s in creating the Taliban in the first place.
Now I wonder if the US Military/CIA and/or private contractors are still going to protect the poppy plants, or they left and the Taliban are going to destroy most of its farming again which the US government hated. Maybe this version of the Taliban wants the poppy production? Interesting.

Lockdowns have worked for us before. Plus a case in the community with no links to the borders means it was already in Nz before he became symptomatic. So it was 1 confirmed case, with the probability being hundreds. And as you can see, it is already climbing.
We are close with our Aussie brothers and sisters and it is destroying them right now. We don't want the same here.
That's fair.
To clarify, loss of life is never funny. Can it be justified? Sure. But it is never funny.

Yeah I read it. Also surprised at the low vaccination rate. New Zealand in general should be easy to control it considering they have strict laws about imports/immigration/border...and you can literally isolate almost everything.

It is strange, and we have been so used to being Covid free that going back at any cost seems ideal. We went through 4 weeks of intense lockdown for over a year of pretty much watching the rest of the world battle it.
Happy to do the same because the trade off is so good.
That argument would work in most forums but considering the amount of people on here that have injected substances that were probably mixed in someone's bathtub, it doesn't really work here.

It's been a very slow process. They were trying to double shot the vulnerable before getting to the bulk of the population.
Just before this outbreak, we were rolling out shots to everybody by early next month.
It's the low Vax rates which have kicked us into lockdown.
The lockdown doesn't affect me so much because I'm an essential worker. It's just BAU for me. I'm jealous, because others I know are getting paid time off once again.
