Donald Trump running for president

Frankly, if you think the AIDS songs are anything less than reprehensible, I don’t know what to say. If you think that is even up for debate to agree with what he said, I am at a loss.
As with other conclusions, that It is not what I said. In my life, I have found it better to ask questions than it is to make conclusions based on my individual interpretation and/or inference.

Like it or not, it is not illegal for people, including Rush Limbaugh, to say things that I do not agree with, and I am glad it is that way. Further, I would fight for his right to say things that I disagree with. I do not want thought police. I disagreed with what I am told he said. I don't have an emotional outcry because I really don't know what he said, what he didn't say, or what her later regretted and apologized for and, candidly, I have enough going on in my own life that I am not interested in trying to control the behavior of others.

To avoid doubt, I don't believe AIDS songs (or dementia songs, or songs based on other illness or malady) are funny nor appropriate, and I don't use/sing/listen to them. But I believe people have the freedom to do a lot of things I disagree with. Like them or not, they are commonly referred to as freedoms.

I refuse to get upset about something I did not see or hear, even though I am opposed to the accounts as they have been described to me. I can accept something I do not like without wanting to remove the right of someone to say whatever it is that I took exception to. I do not insist that people only do the things that I prefer.

Just like I do not care for the motives assigned to and the names being used to describe conservatives, I accept them because I have to - because I know that others have the right to use them.

It accomplishes little to get upset with a giraffe because it has a long neck.

I am going to respectfully ask that you please do not summarize things on my behalf.

It accomplished little to get upset with a giraffe because it has a long neck.
Getting upset with a giraffe for having a long neck is getting upset with something entirely out of their control. That is foolish.

Sort of like someone getting upset at a person just for being gay?

But getting upset with someone for spewing hate and malice towards said “giraffes” is a bit of a different story.

And I never said it should be illegal for Rush to say what he said, did I? I just said he was a POS for it, among many other reasons.

You can argue the Christian notion that all sin is equal in the eyes of God, as it is all separation from God (I’m not exactly unversed in theology), but in the eyes of man, on this earth, and even in some other religions, not all sin is equal and worthy of the same punishment. So what you’re saying is only applicable to those of the Christian faith. Arguing what the Bible says only holds any weight when arguing to another Christian. Or arguably a Jew or Muslim, depending on if it’s the Old Testament or New Testament, as they’re all Abrahamic faiths that hold the OT to be canon.

And the Bible does have a myriad of examples of responding to violence with violence. Sometimes even preemptive violence in the Old Testament. Not exactly the same, but still interesting.
No, there are levels and penalties for varying sin. Some sin needed sacrifice. Some required death. Justice is not the same as repaying evil for evil. Vengeance is also not justice. Celebrating that Rush died of cancer is not an act of vocal justice. They claim he is full of hate, they are likewise full hate, the murder in their hearts is not justified.

From a non-religious perspective, hating Rush for spewing malice towards gays and minorities isn’t nearly the same as him hating said people. You can say that both Rush and the people who hate him are full of hate, whatever, but not to nearly the same degree, or to the same detriment to society and fellow man.

Saying that Rush hating and spewing malice towards gays for decades is the same as someone hating him for doing so is silly. Perhaps both involve hate, but not to nearly the same degree. Not even the same order of magnitude.

Same. Which has nothing to do with seeing a voter fraud case. It's about future elections going forward, and supposedly isn't being heard until early March. I'm confused as to what he's talking about.
Given the volatile, highly polarized nature of election fraud cases in the current environment, I would expect any such case to be kept below the radar as much as possible. No cameras, barring of the press, gag orders all around, etc. This is of course raw speculation on my part.
I would be interested to know the source claiming that a case is being argued today.

If the actual Supreme Court was hearing the case today, it would still be all over the news as something that's happening, with TONS of rampant speculation, even if the actual proceedings are kept as quiet as possible until a decision is reached.

Is that a meaningful voter fraud case if it's not looking at claims of voter fraud from 2020 election??

I want to see the Court go into detail and evaluate the very specific claims team Trump made.. out of state voters, dead people, ballot harvesting, fake addresses, etc.

Yeah, this seems to be something about elections going forward. Important, no doubt, but it seems you and I both thought it was something TOTALLY different than what it seems to be based on the way he worded it.

You were actually expecting SCOTUS to rule on something meaningful and important? Those rotten scoundrels are the biggest chickenshits the govt has ever seen.

I found this, if anyone is interested. It indicates that the Court may have decided in conference whether or not to allow the pending cases to advance. Nothing more.

after reading the case, it looks like this may have some bite. I think this is sidney powells case. Lin woods case is coming up yet. from the SCOTUS website, they will be listening to the arguments mon-weds and offer their decision on thurs.

So can someone tell me why Ted Cruz is coming under such scrutiny? Is he supposed to fly to Texas and run in a human size hampster wheel to overcome the frozen power grid? It’s the responsibility of our government as a whole to respond to national disasters. Something the dems ignore and/or impede on a regular basis.

Above all, what happened in Texas is God‘s will to send a message to the migrant caravans heading for the Mexico-Texas border. Maybe they won’t find it so appealing if they aren't guaranteed electricity.

It’s O’Biden‘s fault, and he hasn’t even personally surveyed the situation yet (as if he would even know where he was). Meanwhile, blood is on his hands for 69 lives lost.

Texas actually isn’t part of a larger interstate power grid. They opted out in favor of a more deregulated option themselves. Which was fine and dandy until a freak snowstorm hit that they weren’t prepared for. Didn’t properly winterize their infrastructure, which was probably a cost-cutting measure (see deregulation) that worked well in terms of saving money, until it didn’t. Now they have catastrophic failure on many levels of infrastructure, from electricity to water supply, and given that they opted out of being part of an interstate power grid, there’s really no way for them to send power from elsewhere to help them out now. They sort of put themselves on a little power island of sorts it seems. And full disclosure, this is what I’ve heard in talks around civil engineering offices/firms, who work with infrastructure literally on a daily basis. But please, explain to me how this failure is the Democrat’s fault?

Now, that is FAR from all Ted’s fault. The man didn’t singlehandedly establish the entirety of Texas’ infrastructure and policies around said infrastructure, but it is relevant background info.

As for Ted, he was mocking California for their power outages, so he looks kind of bad and hypocritical to see it happen to his state, but on an even greater degree. But that isn’t directly related to him going to Mexico, so next point.

It just sort of makes him seem out of touch with his constituents, as almost every politician on both sides is, but most of them at least pretend a bit. Also, other Texas politicians (Republicans), not Cruz AFAIK though, have said that the government owes nothing to people and they should figure it out on their own and the strong will survive. Except that infrastructure is one of the few things everyone agrees IS a job of the government, and what taxes pay for. And another Texas Republican said people are willing to go without power for days to remain on an independent power grid. So people just aren’t happy with Texas politicians at all right now, and with good reason.

Ted can’t solve this problem on his own, but it seems like he’s given up on even trying, and just “noped out of there” to greener pastures when things got rough. Even if there’s very little he could have done, he should have done that little, to show he understands the plight and struggle of his citizens. And what do you I mean “should have have flown to Texas?” Wasn’t the whole issue that he WAS in Texas, living there, and left when things got bad?

Knock Beto and AOC all you want for their policies, and trust me, I have criticized their policies many times, particularly the insane scope of the Green New Deal, but they’ve actually been arranging wellness checks for people and fundraising for Texas, which, while not actually fixing the failed infrastructure and power grid, is helping the people to survive until it can be fixed.

As to the “God’s will” part, that doesn’t even warrant a response. I’m glad you can speak for God as to what his will is. Seems to be the epitome of arrogance to literally speak for Him, but what do I know?

But to claim that the s**t show in Texas right now is primarily the Democrats fault, or Biden’s fault is just utter insanity. This was a textbook example of deregulation allowing cost-saving measures to leave vital infrastructure unprepared and vulnerable. And to try to be so independent that they are unable to receive help from other states in regards to the power grid. This one was on Texas Republicans. Not Cruz’s fault it happened, but a terrible look to “give up and run.”

I hope this helped you to understand the whole situation a little better.

Aren't people in Texas drafting a bill to secede from the US?

If they are, then shouldn't they at least be equipped to deal with emergencies on their own?

Biden has released emergency funding to Texas, whereas Trump tried to withhold money during the Californian wildfires simply because the state didn't vote for him.

As always, people found it funny that Trump withhold money from the libs, but then expect everything when they are in trouble.

No no no, they want to secede in the way that lets them ignore all federal laws, but still receive federal assistance when they need it. Oh, and I guess they don’t mind dealing with TSA or border patrol every time they try to leave Texasland into the United States, or try to bring a gun from a foreign country into the United States every time they cross the border.

It’s the functional equivalent of the kid who runs away from his parents so he doesn’t have to listen to them, until he gets hungry or scrapes his knee, and comes running back home.

Here sir, you dropped your mic.
Why thank you. But knowing some people here, I’m going to be told that’s just what my education, or “indoctrination” convinced me to think.

Actually, you know what, it wasn’t isolating themselves on a power island and failing to winterize their infrastructure that caused this mess, it was the JEWISH SPACE LASER that targeted the Texas power grid and rendered it useless, so they could blame the otherwise flawless Texas infrastructure.

AFAIK, Griddy allows customers to pay a fee (monthly membership) to buy electricity wholesale. From the first thing I see from their site when I search it:
Griddy provides access to wholesale electricity for a monthly membership. We have no markup...

So it ends up being cheaper when prices are low, but has ZERO protection for when prices skyrocket. Customers of course likely had no idea it was even possible for prices to skyrocket to such an insane degree, but it was the gamble that the business model either assumes customers are aware of, or just doesn't care if they are, because they get their money off the subscriptions. The more the merrier.

But I'm sure some people ITT will blame this on Biden and the Democrats too...

Yeah, I suppose Cruz could have shown his face and handed out some blankets for the sake of eluding media scrutiny. At least he has since admitted that he made a “mistake” with his untimely travels. If this were Nancy Pelosi, she would have said “I was set up!”

While I think climate change has more to do with the natural evolution of our planet and universe, I also relate such things to God. O’Biden‘s detrimental moves on border security elicited a big message from God. So on these terms, I hold O’Biden accountable. I can do all that because everything was Trump’s fault in the eyes of the dems and media for the past four years.

O’Biden is such a climate change sucker, he should have had a plan already set in place before he took office to prevent something like this from happening, or a backup response already in place that would save lives in such an event. He’s a failure.

I didn’t know anything about that. Honestly, Texas is heading toward a path of becoming the likes of a third world country anyway with the immigrants that will be inundating that state in the next few years. Ha- we will be taking very good care of these people on every level. It‘s more democratic votes that can possibly even guarantee them Texas in four years. Maybe even in a legit election scenario!

In regard to the forest fires in California, I believe Trump was holding back because money was not being used appropriately in terms of forest management to prevent the fires.

Cruz didn't actually even have to do anything to help people, he just had to not actively appear as if he was abandoning his people when things got tough. Dude made a mistake that looked terrible, and it was compounded by his past history of mocking California for their similar past issues to a smaller and less catastrophic degree than what we're seeing now.

I just want to get this straight, you're saying that God is punishing Texans, many of whom are practicing, sincere Christians, with a devastating storm and death to send a message to Biden and the liberals? And also the the Mexicans trying to come to Texas? Is the goal to destroy Texas so nobody from Mexico wants to go there? Brilliant!

Also, you TOTALLY IGNORED EVERY SINGLE THINGS I said about Texas' insistence on isolating themselves from the larger interstate power grid in favor of their own deregulated and unwinterized option. If this was LITERALLY ANY OTHER STATE IN THE COUNTRY they would have been able to send them some power to help out, but Texas set up their system in such a way that they can not get said help, because they wanted to be able to skimp on costs and do things their way, because capitalism and independence.

I really don't know why I wasted my time explaining the situation to you only for you to totally ignore it. You were ignorant of the situation at first, which is understandable. But now you are willfully remaining ignorant, which is not.

The entire mess in Texas right now is because they opted to isolate themselves on a power island with their deregulated power grid, and refused to properly winterize their infrastructure due to said deregulation to cut costs. This has ZERO to do with God. There is WAY more snow and cold in many places around the world, and they're not going through this catastrophic failure because they had taken proper precautions with their infrastructure. Do not blame God for Texas politicians' stupidity and greed!

I wasn’t ignoring anything, and I understand all that. I just don’t always respond to every aspect of what people say, but that‘s not to say that I agree or disagree with those points. I’m just not really a person that does extremely long posts.

In a nutshell- despite the infastrure and taking God out of the picture, it still happened under Biden’s watch so it’s his fault. Yes, that is ignorant, but O'Biden deserves the same illogical treatment Trump received.

What the **** are you even talking about, Biden has nothing to do with the moronic choices and situation the state of TX is in.

So it’s apparent you believe God has nothing to do with our lives, the state of the world, or the big picture.

That’s cool. I happen to think otherwise..

"...not to say that I agree or disagree with those points..."

Frankly, you can disagree with the points I made regarding the cause of the failures if you want, but you'd be objectively wrong. ;)

You can't say "despite the infrastructure," the infrastructure was literally the direct cause of the failure, and we would not be having nearly this magnitude of problems in literally any other state in the country, red or blue.

At least you admit you're being ignorant. Apparently to try to make some point. Except that no one ITT has actually said that EVERYTHING that has happened under Trump's watch is Trump's fault. If you consider saying that he handled the pandemic poorly is wrong, or that he didn't handle the pandemic poorly, then I'm not even going to explain why you'd be wrong. But yeah, even Trump's mishandling of the pandemic isn't the only reason why the US has handled it so poorly, as there are people like DeSantis who are horrible in their own right. So yeah, not 100% Trump's fault there, if that's any condolence.

It seems like I'm trying to explain the situation in Texas to someone who has no desire to actually understand it.

What the **** are you even talking about, Biden has nothing to do with the moronic choices and situation the state of TX is in.
This. This sort of a state-level equivalent of someone not wanting to wear a seatbelt when driving on their own large private road on their own property, then when they crash after hitting a moose and fly through the windshield, they blame the local fire department for not having a good enough plan to save the driver. Or they say God put the moose there to send a message. Not a message to the people to wear a seatbelt, no, the message would be directed towards the liberals for trying to meddle in our personal freedoms! Yeah, that makes perfect sense!

This makes far too much sense for a good portion of this thread to understand. Common sense and reality does not factor in to the comments and beliefs of quite a few here.

****- calm down. I’m just getting a little dig on O’Biden in here. Give a guy a break!!

I realize he has nothing to do with it. That’s kind of the point! 🤪

I mean, you did kind of using God's name in vain to get a dig in on Biden, accusing Him of killing his own subjects and people who believed in him and worshipped him to make a point to Biden and Mexicans. So... congrats? Real top-notch humor.

I believe God is playing a role in everything that has been going on, and none of that is humorous. Trust that.

Wait, so this part WASN'T a joke?
what happened in Texas is God‘s will to send a message to the migrant caravans heading for the Mexico-Texas border. Maybe they won’t find it so appealing if they aren't guaranteed electricity.
Man, you should have just taken the chance to pass it off as bad humor, not literal insanity and rampant arrogance to speak for God Himself.

In an over-the-top-insane way maybe lol.
I do see O’Biden’s presidency as the culmination and materialization of something truly evil. I believe our country and the world has been on a that trajectory for many years, and this O’Biden administration is just a fast track to even worse times. I think it’s also biblical- and following that trajectory. Terrible things have been happening, and I know with all my being that things are going to get much worse in the short and long term.

That sums up my perspective from here 🤷‍♂️
