I find it hypocritical to condemn Obama for paying 20% of his presidential income in taxes when Trump pays a fraction of a %.
How did he avoid taxes on his presidential income?
Probably by donating 100% of it?

i already called him on this....he just skidded past it like a case of diarrhea on a skateboard.Probably by donating 100% of it?![]()

while we are talking nicknames i think trump should call biden 'brain salad surgery'....pelosi and dems keep talking about trump's mental fitness but never mention that their guy is the one who has had 2 count them 2 brain surgeries.Orange man bad!!!

He still earns money. And he still avoids paying personal taxes.
He said he earned 418m in 2018, and yet only paid $750 in tax. In his own words "do as I say, not as I do"
Also reducing taxable income by paying your daughter to advise you is a bit dubious. The guy knows how to play the system, and yet if it were a Democrat you would be screaming from the rooftops at how he is stealing govt money to finance his own interests.
To be fair, this isnt limited to Trump, it just highlights how the tax system can be played by the wealthy, and us regular folk are left to pick up the pieces.
I'd much prefer if they abolished income tax altogether so that shady stuff like this didnt need to exist, but people would just find other ways to avoid sales tax.
I’m getting a bit uneasy about Trump’s chances ever since the debate and then contracting the China plague. While most would agree that he won the debate, his behavior was largely less desirable than Biden on that night.while we are talking nicknames i think trump should call biden 'brain salad surgery'....pelosi and dems keep talking about trump's mental fitness but never mention that their guy is the one who has had 2 count them 2 brain surgeries.

Then we have all the drama regarding Trump coming down with the China plague, and his many tweets/comments that have apparently offended people in terms of him downplaying the impact of the virus after his speedy recovery, and now claimed immunity
I know the media blows everything this man does out of context and proportion, but I feel he has been a bit reckless in recent weeks in giving the media way too much fuel to portray him as being the the guy people love to hate. I seriously think the dexamethasone played with his mind and made him feel a bit too invincible.
His recent behavior hasn’t swayed me at all, but I just hope it hasn’t for others either. Hopefully he gets himself back on track here regardless..

There is definite uptick around here of people that comment that they've seen enough of Trump. People I would never expect, but seems people are finally getting scared of how power hungry he is. Even my own MIL who is very Republican said last week that she can't support her party anymore. The difference I am hearing though, is that it's not even Trump, because once he is gone, there is still all of the garbage left behind.

Suprisingly I've seen a lot of life-long democrats in MA tell me they are voting for Trump now. It could be a really strange election
Still, I agree that I don't support the politicians in the republican party, which is a big reason of why I support Trump. The republican party has just become another side of the same corrupt coin. I hate to sound like I've got my Ax1 tinfoil hat on here, but I do believe these career politicians have become a big problem and they are incredibly corrupt and the lies have just become unbelievable.
It reminds me of this - my brother who knows nothing about cars, once came back from a car dealer who told him that because his car had 125,000 miles on it, changing the transmission oil now was likely to just cause problems because he had never done it. This of course is stupidity and I told him I often wonder if mechanics sit around trying to think up the most far-fetched lies they can, create a story that makes it sound plausible and then make bets on whether or not the guy who created it can actually get a customer to buy it.
I feel like the politicians do the same thing, "Here's my story, I bet the American people will eat this up!" Politician #2, "You'll never get that to fly. I bet you $100,000 they won't buy it." Politician #1, "You're on, watch me."
And as Dixon said, with all the 24/7 media coverage and lack of actual evidence collection/journalism with heavy bias; it's tiring.
But people quickly forget that Trump has faced opposition from the republican party from day 1. He was never the politicians' choice. They hate the idea of an outsider who hasn't been indoctrinated through their ranks coming in and doing things differently. It's a real threat to their elitist and privileged way of life. Some republicans support him now because it is in their best interest politically and the ship has sailed. I mean, if Mitch suddenly sides with Pelosi - how do they go back to fighting and creating drama when it's all over?

If you donate 100% of your salary, you still have income and it’s taxable lol. Donating your salary doesn’t make it not income. Not to mention, he presumably has dividend income and other income from different revenue streams.
I’m all for a straight tax. Something like 5% of income/revenue across the board. Little (if any) write-offs/deductions etc.
I’d be up for that any day over the current system.
I would add in making to first $15k of everyone’s income exempt freeing many poor people from the burden.
I’m seeing an uptick in people that are just plain sick and tired of politics and politicians in general. This 24/7 political news cycle is draining.

Lol I always have room in my heavy tin foil armored basement for you!

That’s reasonable, too. But it’ll never happen because it’s reasonable and then politicians couldn’t fight over taxes!!
This is a big reason why I’m against a Court stacked in either direction. It’s free reign to jam that party’s social policies down American’s throat.
i guess biden said he is running for congress-AGAIN
on the other hand he certainly isn't going to be a senator either.....Well, sadly, there may be more truth to this than we'd like to admit. He is dumb like a fox maybe (I doubt it). If he wins, he certainly isn't going to be the president of the US.
Sweet. I know you have that good heavy duty stuff, not the thin flimsy stuff I buy at Aldi's.
j/k man - not trying to single you out, I think you have valid points and I respect your opinion, but I also figure you're not going to get upset by tinfoil comments like some of the liberals might be set off emotionally by it
This would be a reasonable setup for sure. I'd even possibly (without having really thought it all the way through) be for a tiered setup of some reasonable amount. 0% of the first 15-20K, 5% of 20-50K, 7% of $50-150K, etc. I get the idea that each additional dollar of income has less marginal value at some point. Someone making $2M a year is going to do a lot better paying 30% of their income than someone making $50,000 and paying 10% of their income. But still I don't want to make producing more and making more a disincentive - that only opens the door toward the powerful doing shady things.
But there are a million more reasonable tax setups than what we have.
Yeah, and you can't grow gov't and support your elite lifestyle if you aren't taxing the snot out of the citizens. I always love when people say, "The government does so much - how would you get to work if there were no roads?" Yeah, well, how did they build those roads to begin with? With tax dollars furnished by people who got to work before there were roads. Yes, the gov't has done some things that are helpful, but it all began with private income.
Unfortunately we have lost some intellectual capacity here. These judges should be enforcing the laws, not deciding it. Yes there is room for interpretation, but this has become much too broad and subjective. There was a reason for 3 branches of gov't, and having the Supreme Court gain the ability to legislate has been a big mistake.
democrats are now encouraging voting in person since they have shown lack of inteligence to vote by ballot---seriously!!!
can't make this stuff up...after pushing so hard for mail in ballots democrats are now encouraging in person voting since their base are to stupid to fill out a simple form...this cracks me up-of course it's not anything i didn't already know![]()
see post 41,730How about the stupid democrats in CA that are sanitizing their ballots? How do I know they are democrats you ask? Well because they are stupid, obviously.

Not his only source of income, if you think it is, well I have news for youi already called him on this....he just skidded past it like a case of diarrhea on a skateboard.
I disagree. Pelosi is trying to ruin the election process and throw the results into question - and take power herself. She is #3 in line of course.
I wonder if that’s why she’s pushing the 25th amendment? Maybe she’s pushing it two-fold....to overthrow Trump if re-elected or overthrow Biden AND Harris if they’re elected. I think we’re about to witness something after this election that we never imagined would happen.
Meh, every single one of them is a **** head.
Republican Party is herpes. Democrat party is AIDS. Both suck, but one sucks much worse.
I can't imagine you get this uptight about things in your own life, do you bigt? You seem easily triggered.
