You’re missing the point....it was cloned from fetal tissue nearly 50 years ago in another country. Plus, you don’t know why the fetus was aborted in the first place in the Netherlands. It could have been a medical necessity. You can’t assume it was automatically a birth control type of abortion.

This is truly unbelievable. He tries to say "I will do what my voters want" - which we know is not the case because he hasn't cared that Trump won an election since day 1, and now says they don't deserve to know? If you are going to do what they want, and they want you to pack the court, why don't you put it on blast so that all of your constituents know what you are about? He knows that people don't want it, and he knows he doesn't care and he knows he is going to pack the court.

Then he says, "I am not playing Trump's game, he would live to talk about this rather than what he is doing."

Um, yeah Joe, isn't that the job? You tell people what you stand for and if they want that, they vote for it?

The thing is, most 'normal' people do not have the ability to reduce their income to a mere 0.000115384% of their reported earnings. If that were scaled down to someone earning $50,000 p/a, that would be 5 cents of tax per year.

How many 'normal' people pay only 5 cents of tax on every 50,000 they earn?

This is a really naive way of thinking about taxes.

For instance, I start a business and employ 20 people.

I make $3M my first year.

I pay $1.5M for the cost of goods, etc.

The businesses I buy from pay taxes on the income I just gave them.

My employees earn $1.25M in wages, which I pay them.

They pay taxes on those wages.

Before I even pay my taxes, I have played a role in helping to generate more tax revenue for the government than most employees will pay in a lifetime.

And in order to start that business I probably had to take a huge risk. As a personal example, what I described above is a real life example of where I will likely be in a year. And the town my partners and I are moving into gave us $1.5M in tax incentives because of the jobs and future tax base we will provide, and because we are making a HUGE investment up front, with significant risk.

To look at someone paying taxes through corporations and generating other income for people AND the gov't and then separate out their personal return isn't going to give a clear picture.

This basically just says "I expect everyone else to pay taxes except me" lol.

Although I doubt you'll write off and not disclose any losses, so that the amount written off can be used to avoid paying taxes in future on taxable earnings.

For example, if I write off 100m in losses, then don't disclose that to the IRD, then make 10m per year taxable earnings, i could use the 100m written off loss to offset 10 years of 10m worth of taxable income. In theory.

Actually, there are multiple mechanisms that I will likely be using, including accelerated asset depreciation, the tax incentives I mentioned, and yes- losses carried forward.

And it doesn't say I expect everyone else to pay taxes accept for me. Sorry if that was your takeaway...read it again.

Donald Trump probably pays tens of thousands of dollars just to have his taxes prepared. This isn't like he is at his kitchen table doing a 1040 EZ the bight before they are due. The losses he takes are being handled by accountants and they are professionals and you can trust that if the IRS saw illegality it would be all over the news. I mean he was almost impeached for Russian collusion with no evidence needed. What do you think would go down if they had real evidence?

I find it hypocritical to condemn Obama for paying 20% of his presidential income in taxes when Trump pays a fraction of a %.

How did he avoid taxes on his presidential income?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like your company would be minimizing tax moreso than you as a person. I would venture that if you paid yourself a salary, youd pay tax on that much like an employee.

My comment is directed moreso at his personal tax returns than his creative way of his company minimizing tax.

Also reducing taxable income by paying your daughter to advise you is a bit dubious. The guy knows how to play the system, and yet if it were a Democrat you would be screaming from the rooftops at how he is stealing govt money to finance his own interests.

To be fair, this isnt limited to Trump, it just highlights how the tax system can be played by the wealthy, and us regular folk are left to pick up the pieces.

I'd much prefer if they abolished income tax altogether so that shady stuff like this didnt need to exist, but people would just find other ways to avoid sales tax.

That is possible - but what about situations where that money remains within an entity I control. Usually someone at a certain level of income will have control over multiple "buckets" and those buckets are basically their own "people" with their own tax returns. So I may have 5 companies that all file a tax return and my personal tax return doesn't show much. To be honest, at this point I don't fully understand it because I am just learning and preparing for what is probably 2-3 years away (if I am lucky).

But this is why having an average citizen look at a businessman returns can be really misconstrued - his personal returns are probably the smallest that of a large picture. It isn't that he isn't paying, it is that he is not "twchnically" the one earning the money or paying the taxes.

It is like when everyone was upset that Romney had off-shore bank accounts and the average person thought that was a way of avoiding taxes. It is not. Americans are responsible for paying income taxes regardless of where the money is kept. Rich people keep accounts in various jurisdictions to impair legal access from lawsuits. It isn't only legal, it is prudent.

Have you seen his actual return saying he paid $750? Because all I have seen is unsubstantiated news articles making claims from, at best, unnamed sources. It wouldn't be the first time false news articles were .are about him, see the Russia investigation and articles about him calling the troops lovers, which even people who were there and don't like Trump said never happened, but the articles run without facts and claim "unnamed source".

But Biden is on tape calling the troops "stupid bast*rds" to their faces.

Anyway, when he says he made it, again, it could easily be that entities which he owns made it and paid on a separate return. From a technical standpoint it is a separate entity, but for all intensive purposes it is his income.

Anyway, I admit I am learning a lot of this and do not quite fully understand it so I probably am not explaining well and maybe have some details wrong.

Paying someone $100,000 to not pay taxes of $40,000 doesn't seem like a good way to pay the system and this is a perfect example of a legit situation being skewed. The money she was paid was an expense to the company and she would have had to pay the taxes on that income, at a likely higher rate than Trump would have paid with the methods available to someone with his means. This is completely legit and not a very good way to evade paying taxes, since it will cost more than just paying the taxes.

But we agree - income tax should be either dramatically simplified at minimum and eliminated at best.
