Androsterone is kind of a steroid, but not really, but it has some anti-estrogenic effects.

1-andro, OTOH, aka 1-DHEA, is a prodrug to a precursor that converts to 1-testosterone. It requires two enzymes to make the conversion from it's base hormone, 1-DHEA to 1-testosterone. You can read more about it here:
