Donald Trump running for president

the top social problems in new zealand include:
anti-social behavior
poverty
drug abuse
prostitution
RACIAL DISCRIMINATION
alcohol abuse
economic deprivation
political CORRUPTION

new zealand has a really high teen suicide rate, high incarceration, horrible cases of road rage and the highest housing cost in the western world...not to mention a very serious pollution problem in waterways affecting agriculture which is one of it's biggest exports--ooops!!!

there are 682,500 people in poverty including 220,000 children in new zealand.
It's crazy because one person in a family of 4 with a full time job at minimum wage would put them above the poverty line.

Its unfortunate some people are finding full time work impossible, despite there usually being a lot of work available. It disproportionately affects Maori and Polynesians as well.

wow that sounds racist-why aren't they rioting, looting and burning down your cities-eh?

do not MPLM?

how about that alarmingly high teen suicide rate in new zealand-wow!!!

Only 5 million people live there.

Are these stats accurate Jiggz?
Our poverty line for 2 adults and 2 children is 32000 p/a or $600 per week. So it is higher than what is typically called a poverty line, but let's be real, 32k between 4 people isnt much.

wow that sounds racist-why aren't they rioting, looting and burning down your cities-eh?

do not MPLM?
Because our cops dont shoot unarmed people

maori make up 50% of new zealands prison population despite accounting for only 15% of population. at present 1 in every 142 maori new zealander is in prison---wow, this sounds really racist-prime minister of new zealand must be a nazi!!!

Mental health and family violence stuff here are crazy. In police they made up a huge proportion of our work and consumed a lot of our resources. Family violence call outside are mandatory attendance for police, and that means attendance for things like heated arguments (non violent).

I remember a job we had to attend due to a father and son fighting over the TV remote

sounds like you have serious issue with inbreeding-eh?

geez, waterways in new zealand are so trashy it's affecting agriculture---what a bunch of frigging slobs.

new zealand must be full of really trailer trash people-eh?

That's been a issue through all levels of govt. Only in the last year or so have plans been put in place to consider other options that are not prison. Including EM bail.

I'm interested to see if these work. Hoping they do.

wow...new zealand looks like a horrible place with really racist people whose children are offing themselves are trashy as hell, fight over stupid stuff lock up all the people of color...and yet find the time to tell us how bad we are-eh?

Now I can feel the emotion coming through the keyboard. It's got nothing to do with trailer trash slobs. It's contaminants from farms getting into our waterways. A consequence of having a large proportion of your land dedicated to farmland

Who ever said we were perfect? You dig hard enough and root issues come to the surface- noones hiding that here.

I agree with all the criticisms myself. Too many people in poverty, too much suicide, too little mental health assistance, too many Maori and Polynesians in our prison systems.

Those are valid points I agree with

see how things can be misconstrued if you are not able to witness for yourself---isn't that what you have been doing-eh?

Fair :)

Who ever said we were perfect? You dig hard enough and root issues come to the surface- noones hiding that here. The difference is, even with all this crime, we arent shooting our unarmed criminals ;)
there is no one left to shoot, they are all locked up!!!

I edited it. Not going there again lol
a officer was attacked by someone wielding a gun 13 times in 2019, in new zealand.

in 2011 467,321 persons were victims of a crime committed by someone armed with a gun, in the US.

the top statistic was the best i could find, it doesn't say rather or not the gun was a factor in the attack on the officer, was the gun unholstered?

He doesnt get it...he couldn't even hack it as a cop in NZ...but wants to come judge our cops out here...gtfo

The only people who enjoy his non sense are Jswain and Nostrum...who also believe the CHOP/CHAZ was a good idea....lmao

'new zealand police officers do not routinely carry firearms, officers only carry oc spray[pepper spray], batons and tasers'...cops in new zealand don't even carry guns!!!

'police group pulls endorsement after dem's anti-cop rhetoric'

minnesota police group pulls democratic endorsements after candidate beats effigy of police union president....geez!!!

Thats funny. When have I ever stated support for non-peaceful “protests” in the name of BLM? I’ll wait.

Im actually very pro first responder. But im also pro “taking every situation objectively and not jumping on a side before I have all of the available data to examine”. Unlike you and the extreme dems in this thread who defend whatever side of the debate youre on regardless of the factual evidence that’s laid out in front of you.

Edit: like ive said multiple times in these various threads, you, the extreme reps, and the extreme dems are all sheep - you just walk in opposite directions. But youre still sheep.

Yeah, that's a good thing lol. But we have access to firearms in patrol cars.

like I said before, it's best not to get into it again. You guys are more pro a cop being cautious and presenting firearms as a defusion tactic, I'm more pro exploring non deadly options first. We can leave it at that

I think we need to both just let this one go, lol

I think most of you were way to young for that one, childhood favorite cartoon :)

Ren and Stimpy was awesome. The one where he reunited with his fart. Classic.

I always wanted to them to release a real version of "Dont Wiz on the Electric Fence" board game, it would be a big hit during the Covid lockdown!

In other real news, Trump knew covid-19 would be deadly to 5% of hosts, yet downplayed it without adequating preparing people for the threat.
This is yet another febile attempt by the dems and media to attack Trump on the COVID-19 response and it won’t be the last time. It fits right into their wheelhouse because they can criticize everything he did or didn’t do based on some sort of fantasy model that even they don’t have the answers to. There was no COVID-19 response handbook available and there still isn’t.

I could be missing something, but all the proposed controversy seems to be in reference to nothing but the following statement by Trump: “I wanted to always play it down,” Trump told Woodward in the audio of a March 19 interview obtained and published by CNN. “I still like playing it down because I don’t want to create a panic.”

While I think we are still learning about the full impact if the virus, it never was and still isn’t a death sentence to an overwhelming majority of people. For this reason, there is a great number of people that think his actions with the shutdown were too aggressive. I’m not really sure exactly what people expected for him to do differently when he made the safest choices given our circumstances and understanding at those moments. Meanwhile, our citizens were making up their own rules anyway. Causing panic would have been counterproductive, unwarranted, or completely ignored.

Once it got out if China, it was just a matter of each country delaying the inevitable. That’s why it “is what it is,” and that is why it’s called a pandemic. The healthcare system was hit hard, but we were largely successful in not being overwhelmed which ultimately was the main objective. Then it became time to get back to somewhat of a normal life, as that is what the people wanted and had started to do anyway.

Honestly I think this little “Trump knew we were going to die“ scandal isn’t anything the general public is taking all that seriously. It’s more like the media is just amusing themselves..

I'm pretty sure there was a pandemic response manual and a pandemic response team prior to the outbreak. It might not have been Covid-19 specific, but noone could have predicted the exact strain of the next pandemic. Any number of thousands of viruses currently not able to make the leap to humans could develop the right mutation that allows zoonotic capability.

However there was a pandemic manual left behind. But once again, people will keep defending it and so he keeps getting away with it. A Democratic president would never be given so much slack by you guys. Republicans were mad about Obama's mismanagement of Swine Flu - wheres that same scrutiny now?

In related news, seen the latest Time magazine cover?

While there are lower numbers of confirmed or reported cases in other countries, I don’t think they accurately represent what is happening overall. Each country’s testing protocol - or lack thereof is far from being standardized across the world. We have to look at such numbers with a high degree of skepticism, and I completely stopped looking at the numbers months ago.

That said, if 200,000 deaths is accurate, I think we are doing quite well when you consider that anywhere from 100,000 to 2.2 million deaths were initially predicted. At the end of the day, the death count will always rely on how strictly the public sticks to social distancing and other recommendations, as the government can only do so much.

On the same note, our citizens will only tolerate a certain level of infringement on their lives for so long. As a whole, the American population values person freedom and independence more than the collective health of the masses. We have seen that demonstrated in countless ways on a small and large scale.

So what good would it do to blame anyone (except for China) at this point? Well again, it’s just to try and earn votes for the democrats who have demonstrated that they have nothing of value to contribute themselves.
