Awesome responses and I agree with most. Posted the picture figuring you guys would open me up to diff perspectives.
I think the one fault in your analogies of carrying a weapon when you know you're shopping or traveling through an area, is that Kyle intentionally visited this area across state lines, seeking SOMETHING out.
Now we can all speculate why he really visited. If you believe he's truly altruistic and was there for graffiti and dumpsterfires, fair enough. Id say he went with slightly different intentions personally.
So its more like going to a hood, carrying, and also looking for trouble. I could be wrong.
I saw him punch a girl in the face, so this graffiti cleaning kid seems to have 2 sides (as we all do).
Side note, (as already tackled by dixonk) We shouldn't pretend that 30 minutes away is this massive trip to travel, to go play hero. It's a neighboring community that he was looking to help preserve after much damage had occured the days prior. I would do the same, in one of my nearby towns, because here in the Midwest we take care of our own.
I'm sure he knew there was a possibility for danger (hence, being armed). Does that mean he was LOOKING for trouble? Or does it mean he was likely EXPECTING trouble, given the type of people causing destruction in the streets. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it. I conceal carry, everyday, for that very reason.
Correct. I know people from Maine that traveled to NYC in 2001 after 9/11 to help. It's not unreasonable in the least. But how far away did the rioters and looters travel from? Some of them were from even further away, were lighting fires and destroying stores, and chasing a 17 y/o kid down - who was really looking for a problem?
Absolutely. It's perfectly acceptable for these "protesters" to show up by the bus load to cause mayhem in someone elses' community (I'm not referring to legitimate protesting here, as I FULLY support the right to assemble peacefully), but if a fairly local kid drives half an hour to the scene he's just a lunatic looking to blast some innocent bystanders. Funny how that works.
I'm only a few hours north of Minneapolis. After the George Floyd ordeal, MANY people who had been arrested for looting / destroying property ended up being residents from states on the other side of the country. Makes you wonder if they truly believed in the cause, or if they were simply taking advantage of an opportunity.

I wonder how many of these cases exist.
john bolton was on that trip and denies trump said anything like that...john bolton is not exactly a trump fan!!!Invalid Link Removed
As someone who's friends with marines, my one college roomie went to be a paratrooper or some crazy ****, and family who fought in Vietnam, it pains me to see him refer to soldiers, especially those who paid the ultimate price, this way.
I know you guys are probably not fans of The Atlantic, so I guess there's a chance you ignore it based on that...but does any of his disparaging of our troops bother you guys?
there is a lot more to this story than we are being told....all i've heard so far has been 2nd hand and rumors--but i am watching this story closely.Invalid Link Removed

kind of a shame to make that kind of accusation and not have the balls to put your name on it-eh?
apparently @DaveGabe24 believes!!!Is there anyone that believes stories with anonymous sources anymore? You would think by now everyone would have learned their lesson. Journalism is truly dead.

reports from kenosha say that most of those arrested are from chicago, which is very close to kenosha---i know i went to boot camp at great lakes and had liberty in both milwaukee and chicago.Absolutely. i don't have my amazing kreskin hat on, so i don't know what was in his head when he posted that.I don’t know if he does either. Maybe he was just looking for that gotcha moment that is going to make veterans drop their support for the man who has done more for veterans than any other president?

anonymous sources and a article from the atlantic---it may as well have been from don lemon and cnn.Ok, making a mistake is one thing. But not knowing history while lamenting that we don't teach history in schools is really pathetic.
All I know is that I have heard numerous family members of fallen soldiers discuss getting calls from Trump personally and without fail they all say he was genuine and sincere. I also remember he sent $20,000 to one person who was ineligible to receive family benefits because his ex-wife got them...Trump sent this money out of his own pocket. It doesn't sound like a man that is saying this stuff.

Kind of pathetic that they will just run on about a story as if it’s factual, when it seems far more obvious that it’s completely fabricated. It’s certainly not the first time though, and it won’t be the last. All I know is that I have heard numerous family members of fallen soldiers discuss getting calls from Trump personally and without fail they all say he was genuine and sincere. With family for the weekend but as a broad response, I appreciate all the feedback on The Atlantic article regarding Kyle. Much to your surprise (or maybe not) I agree wholly that it was self defense and he'll likely go free. It wasn't a GOTCHA moment, it was an article that I knew would generate some responses from you guys that I might learn from.
Gotcha moments are for the intellectually lazy imo. It's a way to stay "safe" from being actually challenged.
I don't know how you guys feel about Tim Ferriss, I know the 4hr body didn't make friends in this space, but I treat him a bit like Rogan - more a fan of his guests than him. If any of you have interest in an amazing 90min talk with Rabbi Sacks (Cambridge/Oxford guy)...he talks about how countries have shifted from prioritizing communities, church, family and "WE" and more to individualistic views and "I" and it's become this cultural shift over the years since WW2. The very reason we can't all agree on the basics of wearing a mask for each other because its not "WE" it's "I."
That summary doesn't give the podcast justice but please, if you're even remotely interested- it was a truly enlightening 90mins and a breath of fresh air to hear someone with true wisdom speak on the current state of affairs. Someone with eloquence and knowledge, a stark contrast to these bozos trying to lead our country.

In the meantime, everyone have a fun, safe weekend !
Big policy difference on the 2A. Enough so that despite my L leanings I can’t risk a vote to Biden. I have always promised I will come around to vote for the LP when a time comes that my 2A is not being threatened. Unfortunately it is under threat.
You cannot be serious here...I completely disagree...this is what I consider "major policies" which they are completely opposite on:Voting for Dump is a vote for Groper Joe, they barely truly are much different when it comes to most major policies.
I dont think you understand, we are aiming for 5% with as many states as possible for matching Federal funds. This is a growing movement and if people looked at it your way there will never be real chance in our country.
The Libertarian party is slowly winning spots across the country and we will win more, within 10 years we hope to take a couple of National seats and really get rolling from there.

Trump - pro life
Trump- pro law enforcement
Trump - border security
Trump- lower taxes
Trump - keeping America energy independent
Trump- keeping China in their place...
Sleepy Joe is the most "progressive candidate" of all time according to Bernie...not to mention he has full blown dimentia.

Cant blame you my man....personally I think they both are anti-2A, by that I dont mean the R's want to totally strip it but they regulate it more than my taste buds think are a good idea, but the D's are certainly on another level.
Im a new firearm owner too, but been pro 2A for a good decade now.
I just explained the 5% to a friend last night. He wasn’t going to vote and now he’s voting JoJo for that reason.
I am under no illusion that Rs will go out of their way to deregulate guns. But the Ds are actively campaigning on the notion that they want to come and take them out of my possession and ban the opportunity to get more. That’s unacceptable. So no matter how much I align with the party of liberty and no matter how badly I want to see a 3rd party come to the mix. My 2A is too important to throw down on an underdog.

I consider you on my side regardless if you vote for Dump or not. I’ll still continue to call ya out though time to time![]()
Your professors served you well. The rabbi talks about safe spaces at universities in the episode, you will enjoy that part. I know it.
Its why a system like UBI is actually capitalism on steroids if you can fend off the knee-jerk reaction of calling it socialism.

Just curious - what would you consider progressive that Biden has done in his political career?

I respect this. Some beliefs/issues are more important than others and are a deciding factor.

Now if the Supreme Court would stop punting 2A cases and actually start ruling then I could get on board. I only dream of an election where all I was worried about was spending.
Congrats on the new firearm! Like you I had my LTC for a long time (about 7 years) before I went ahead and jumped in with both feet. I am all in on the 2A. And to be honest, I'm all in on all of the amendments. It's funny how ready people are to repeal 2A but they would freak if you tried to repeal the 1A - even in the face of all the fake news out there.
I will have to look into UBI more - you have a lot of homework for me to do! haha. Capitalism isn't perfect, but IMO it's the best we have and free markets with a free working force are extraordinarily important to a free society.

You are probably correct here and we may be able to agree. But I'm wondering, what would you consider Biden has accomplished AT ALL in his career?
If anything, Kenosha should be enough proof for anyone that they should own an AR-15. You couldn't come up with a better sales pitch. Kyle also sold me on the fact that you NEED to use a single point sling. If not for those two things - he would be without a doubt, dead.
Quick question, and if you choose not to answer I don't blame you - I actually deal with a lot of real estate attorneys and a lot of them were big proponents of me getting my license and starting to carry. I'm curious if you, as an attorney, carry?
I wonder how many people in the crowd she flagged with that AR-15, with the mag in and no effort to see if it was unloaded? lol.
Thanks! Ive been following along your posts, been educational for me.
I have a 20 Gauge shotty, its a Turkey gun with 26" barrel but home defense shotty's are hard to find...this will hold me through until then and Ill get another one and start my collection, lol. I live in a nice area but just want to be sure my family is protected and with the election coming up you never know.
In NY Im not allowed to shoot people unless I can prove my life was in danger even if they break into my home, so this would be under the most extreme circumstances. Its unfortunate, if someone wants to steal my TV and safe Im supposed to watch them as long as they dont threaten our lives!!!!!!!!!
