Donald Trump running for president

I think some of these situations were avoidable if the cops were better at hand-to-hand. It sounds silly but you have guys resisting arrest from 3 cops and getting free. That's already a failure.

Then they get to their car, or the situation just becomes hyper-unpredictable from there on out, and it's hard to blame a cop who wants to go home to his family at that point.

For a lot of these untrained, out of shape cops, it makes sense why they're quick to pull their weapon as a 2nd or 3rd line of defense, instead of last. They just don't have other options to feel like they can handle themselves imo

I can fully support police officers having to undergo PT tests and be forced to maintain a minimum health and fitness standard. They should also undergo some sort of hand to hand combat training and required to retain proficiency and perhaps a minimum amount of hours per year to maintain certification.

We have an obesity problem amongst police officers that is very concerning.

Agreed. I have friends who are LEO's and them staying in shape keeps them safe first and foremost, but it keeps others safe in a way. If they're able to subdue safely and confidently, things don't escalate.

You have guys who can't handle themselves WHATSOEVER in physical combat and then once they feel unsafe, are basically covered by their brothers and the law to put an end to it however necessary. It's leading to some rough outcomes as we see.

I will say there are times when being in shape and knowing how to throw down won’t help you. PCP will make guys into super humans. I have seen a 5’ tall Mexican need 3 officers to put him down. He was running and carrying 400lbs worth of humans while being tazed and sprayed in the face and it wasn’t even putting a dent in his resolve. PCP is crazy.

Yup, no argument there.

I can imagine there's a lot of cases it would mean lives saved tho.

the problem being there is a real shortage of people wanting to be cops, and with this shortage how would you go about forcing physical fitness?

with that said i got up early-5am so i could beat the heat and went for a 7 mile run...then went to the legion and spent an hour on the range....but best part of the day was spending time with the grandkids!!!

happy saturday!!!

law enforcement is going through the same difficulty with recruitment as the military did after nam, when they stopped the draft in 73 and went with a volunteer armed forces...i remember my enlisting in the military was very unpopular with many of my long time friends, many of them wanted nothing more to do with me. i believe that any young person considering a career in law enforcement today would face even more challenge than i did. and my mom's house even got egged.

I believe people were just trying to get a rise out of you with those comments. Since that's what you love to do in this thread.

As far as deadly force for resisting; not justified unless officer is in fear for his life...now, I'm good with the officer handing out an ass whipping to gain compliance though.
I'm pretty sure we can agree on this

I didn’t say they should. I said that if they did and they were criminals we shouldn’t be burning cities down on their behalf. I am not against use of lethal force. I am also not for using it without justification. I also am not for arm chair quarterbacking an encounter and judging actions based on what happened after the fact. In the moment **** happens and it should be taken into consideration. But I also know what it’s like to operate in high pressure life threatening situations and what it does to you mentally and physically and it’s effect on motor skills, focus, and decision making skills.
I literally think we are arguing the same points.

Because I 100% agree with this

love it...looks like this will be a 'get along' saturday...peace, my friend!!!
I think so!

Have a good saturday, BigT :D

no, have a great saturday!!!

i am blessed beyond belief...my 4 grandkids are beautiful and healthy, i am a fortunate man.
You are a good person BigT. I have a lot of respect for you and your opinions here. I can 100% be a pain, but in all honestly that's just because I love what the US stands for and the opportunities it can give.

If anything, i mean it as a compliment that I enjoy learning and reading about the US, its culture and everything else.

I also believe we share a lot of the same values, because a lot of what you post I agree with. Just to make it very clear, I'm not a person who protests (peaceful or otherwise). I prefer when everything is in harmony. Some people thrive on chaos but that's not me at all.

I may have said that I'd protest but in reality I wouldn't. I would never protest against law enforcement ever.

thank you for saying that...i have a ton of respect for you--it was you who convinced me that capital punishment is wrong--and i will stand by that even if i get blowback for it!!!

I think he may have been referring to my post when I said “We need to give our police more freedom to use potentially deadly force in situations of violent crimes and the resistance of arrest.“

What I really meant is that the use of deadly force in situations such as the resistance of arrest should remain a viable option for law enforcement without it being subject to scrutiny by the media and turned into racial narratives and abuse of power. When it’s justified, we should praise them for getting these people off the streets and keeping us safe. If a good ’ol fashion beat down does the trick to get them to comply, I think that is also a win! When people break the law and then resist the police- the pendulum needs to swing heavily in favor of the police in terms of justifying their actions.

I don’t buy into the notion of the urban black population being afraid of losing their lives at the hands of cops every time they leave their house. If they were/are, they are surely involved in something shady behind the scenes. Violent criminals certainly aren’t afraid of law enforcement to the extent that they should be- particularly now of course.

Law enforcement needs to be given back their balls, and we have to be encouraging them to show them.

I want to say I would not ever go and protest, but I can’t say that with certainty. There is a faction of our population that really wants to take a certain right away from me that I am beyond passionate about.

At this point in time it is more likely that I would be present when protest deteriorated into a riot. I will be present to repel that out of my little slice of heaven in a heartbeat. Hopefully my location is a ways off from having police stand down and allow riots to happen. Last time they tried it here it took all of 10 min for law enforcement to gas them and send them packing.

Well you won’t have to worry about that if/when Trump is reelected. At least for another 4 years...

Then, I am hoping this will be our next Republican presidential nominee :)

They had a threat that antifa was going to bring 6 bus loads of people to OKC from Colorado last night. By the time the twitter rounds were made they quickly found out they would not be welcomed and that we would make them famous. Some local protestors showed out for a couple hours and went home.

Oklahoma is not the place to come and try and make trouble. We are very proudly the reddest state in the union. We love our guns, have constitutional carry, and a very very supporting AG who happens to be an avid gun lover himself.

bravo!!!

indianapolis is red but only because unigov consolidated all the nearby burbs into a central government. the downtown area is full of communists. my wife and i left indianapolis 12 years ago after i lost my job at international paper in 08. once you get out of the downtown indy area indiana is pretty solidly red-i remember when mike pence was governor, and dan quayle was senator from indiana before being george hw bushs VP.

I haven’t looked too much into it, but I do know there is talk about both of them in 2024 and the potential of them running against each other in the primaries. I’m not sure they would do that to each other though?

Ivanka would obviously have that special appeal as being the first potential woman president. For those who are into that. For me, there was just something special about her speech and her overall presence a few nights ago. She looked like a leader and spoke like one as well.

I would be surprised if we didn’t see one of them in the running for 2024..

my wife and i were both happy ryan newman wasn't hurt.

Like I mentioned before, taser are not always effective....it appears they exhausted all force options, and Blake was still going for the knife.

2 officers fired tasers at Jacob Blake before he was shot

The new flagship Krispy Creme is opening up in NYC, just wear your mask until you find a seat, 6 feet apart unless your in Germany 1.5 meters seems to work better and forgeddaboutit!!! Dont forget to fill out your organ donor card.

So I watched this video @Jiigzz and I just have to say how extremely misleading this is.

This isnt a product of UK police and US Police, this is a product of a friendly UK community and a hostile NYC environment and culture, you would get reactions like that and there is a good chance you get popped in your mouth joking around with people like that in NYC. People generally hold their ground when they are disrespected unless they are the minority snowflakes. Actually I can narrow it down to some of the more hard communities but thats the way it generally is.

I can tell by the accent of the officers they are local NYC people, they are a product of the city culture here not "US police" culture.

Also, there probably isnt a single NYPD officer unless they joined the force who has known someone from their own department get shot at or murdered or encountered a number of violent criminals all over the streets. Joking around like that isnt a prank, its being a complete moron.

If you show NYPD respect 99% of the time they return it to you.

I wonder what Blake's ex-gf thinks about these protests? I'm sure she agrees and the police should have just let him rape her and violate his warrant.

edit: Although, in light of thebigt's "Biden's America" comment, and with some further thought, I guess it's consistent. Biden sees no problem in a man using his fingers to penetrate a woman.

are you kidding me? she is probably at his bedside kissing up, trying to cash in on that money his family thinks he will get.

money is one hellava motivator to do some crazy shyt!!!

Not saying it is impossible, but I really doubt it. She already had a restraining order on him. People in soured relationships will burn piles of cash just to spite their exes.

Edit: Ok, you got me to think more again. Maybe that is just MY experience. I do tend to piss people off when they are being irrational. Kind of like playing the "calm down" game. haha

nah, he isn't a threat to her anymore, and i grew up around poor people-if she see's a chance to cash in she will grab it-pretending to forgive him while grabbing his cash will be her revenge---human nature-trust me!!!

Honestly, this could give her a reason to go after him in civil court - if he suddenly has money. It's hard to deny he didn't break his restraining order and cause pain and suffering now.

I see your point, it will be interesting to see which way it goes. If you are right, I will send you some beer money haha.

it will be a little time before blake would get a payout...but it would take years for a civil case to be resolved especially since he will have cash to buy a expensive, high powered lawyer-a good lawyer could delay for many years and get her to settle for peanuts, imo.

Shooting, but not killing a man who was very aggressively resisting arrest definitely warrants all that! Disgusting!

Apparently, Jacob Blake asked his father
"Why did they shoot me so many times? He replied "Baby, they weren’t supposed to shoot you at all."

He should have asked his son WTF he thought would happen when he shrugged off 2 taser attempts, put an officer in a headlock, and apparently went for his knife.

Paralyzed or not in a hospital, my parents would have been less than pleased with my behavior. Must be my white privilege (y)

As far as Jacob himself, I hope he was just suffering from post trauma delerium and ultimately realizes that he determined his own fate.

hell, if i had a past like blake my mom would have disowned me years ago, after giving me several chances she would have told me you made your bed!!!!

my mom actually did disown me for my alcoholism, i had to earn back her trust-she never stopped loving me, she just didn't want to be around me---my mom was a true believer in tough love.

btw-my mom raised me as a single mom, my dad died when i was 8 months old. guess i am lucky for white privilege-eh?

I’m the product of tough love as well. I have always had a rebellious side but it was just harmless fun. Still, I snuck out of the house once in the middle of the night when I was 17 and my mother subsequently kicked me out of the house.

Yes, it sounds like you were definitely overprivileged. ;)

Very unfortunate regarding your father :(

First off, I could be flexible. You are quite the salesman.

Second - he was violating a restraining order on someone he sexually attacked/raped allegedly. What did he think would happen after violating a restraining order, resisting arrest, shrugging off 2 taser attempts, putting an officer in a headlock and giving even the impression that he may have a potentially deadly weapon.

Yeah, they shouldn't have shot him at all. Talk about privileged.

'portland shooting leaves one dead'

a pro-trump caravan clashed with rioters and a man was shot and killed-it looks like it was a pro-trump man who was killed. i see this escalating quickly-portland mayor ted wheeler still refuses help to quell the 3 months of violence, rioting and looting...what business owner in their right mind would remain in that cesspool?

if the people of portland are retared enough to re-elect ted wheeler as mayor then i don't even care if it burns to the ground.
