Went to donate today and they said I was at 19.2 iron but assume that’s hemoglobin? I also had 145/100 blood pressure. I’m super healthy otherwise and on trt for 8 months. She said I would feel a ton better. I’ve experienced some tiredness shortness of breath and I believe it’s bc of the higher levels. Also been dizzy lately. Hopefully this helps. Hemocrtat was ab 56 also

You tend to make a lot of posts surrounding TRT and your labs but I've yet to see one where you've made adjustments and came back with an update. How about try that since your HCT isn't just going to go down miraculously.

I donated today but she said I was at 19.2 therefore I was asking. I made myself clear obviously as I gave blood today. She said I would feel a lot better so I was asking anyone else

Well obviously your RBC is high and you need to donate not much else to say.. I’d go again as soon as you can and then get bloods.

Well your Total Test definitely isn't going to be good now when you stop...

It sounds like you don't have a doc. It also sounds like if you don't have a doc maybe you hopped on testosterone before you had adequate knowledge of what the potential issues could be and how to control them.

If you do have a doc and they aren't ordering you regular labs, having you donate blood every 3-4 months and looking for what the problems could be when you're not feeling better, your doc is unfit to be treating you with hormone replacement.

Bottom line: If you're not feeling better on TRT, something is not being managed properly. 9 times out of 10 you're either not managing estrogen or overmanaging estrogen.

As far as the blood pressure and other issues go, your HCT is exactly why it's off and you're feeling dizzy. 8 months is way too long to wait and any doctor should know that. I'd guess that you're not taking an AI with your protocol? A primary care physician is not qualified to be treating you with HRT. Get a doctor that actually knows what they're doing and you'll probably feel better.

Yeah. But my total test prior to trt was great, it was my free test. How would I manage to slowly get off or it’s probably fact I haven’t donated and causing bp issues. I’m switching to a doc, right now at a clinic

No taking an AI but was which caused a shutdown. My fault there. But off an AI for a month thus far. So should I donate again once more in 56 days since I waited 8 months? How long until no issue goes back down. First time donating today

your total test was fine but a doc put you on trt to raise free test?

Yeah. Shbg was high and free super low. It worked other than sides of not giving blood looks like. Free test is what matters right?

there are ways to increase free test without going on trt...especially for a doc who has scripts at his disposal.

You do know the lab ranges for iron? And hematocrit and hemoglobin are all tested separately?
And that it WAY worse to donate if your H&H are not significantly out of range? We got a guy here that donated with labs being perfectly fine and he’s all fucked up now.

Why would it be bad to donate quarterly? Fucked up in what way?

I’m not sure where homeboy donated but I was under the impression that they won’t accept your blood for donation if your hematocrit is even close to being out of range. There’s a cutoff point and I thought it was 50 or 55. They always prick my finger and test it beforehand.

Study about blood donation on TRT. “The study presented evidence that donating blood more than once or twice per year can significantly deplete iron stores and can lead to anemia. Moreover, the medical industry relies on donations of a healthy supply of blood rich in iron, so certain donors (especially those who donate frequently) might not be eligible for repeat donations.

Likewise, measuring the hemoglobin level only might not be a reliable indicator of a person being suitable for blood donation or not. The ferritin levels should also be taken into account to prevent anemia in various donors.”

He now has cancer, Lymes disease, Graves’ disease, memory loss and bleeds out of his eyes. It’s bad. Don’t donate too often.

Jesus Christ. How often was he donating? I was under the impression that on TRT you were supposed to donate every 4-6 months. I just assumed if I’m running a bunch of gear too I should probably do it more often.

Was he just on TRT or was he blasting and cruising too?

Totally kidding man.
He’s a smidge of a hypochondriac. But ya, he was bloodletting when his H&H were actually in range and now he has all kinds of low iron - ferritin issues.
Mine got up to 53.7, so I simply waited a few weeks and started noticing some shortness of breath etc, I drained only 6 fl oz 2x over a month(not even a pint) and my last labs I was 48.
I think guys over donate. I would use it as a last resort, there’s a whole lot of lifestyle changes and supps that may help prior. Nicotine is the absolute worst thing for guys on TRT. Shoots up hematocrit fast.

Donating is a good thing to help save lives, but it is used as a means to lower HCT far too often and too quickly IMO. Simple changes to protocol that probably should be done anyway and simple hydration can address these situations in most cases.

I literally had high ass blood pressure and felt like **** so I ask. I have been on trt for 8 months and my levels were through the roof. So I shouldn’t donate? I was dizzy as well which could be caffeine sensitivity but hard as hell to cut down on that. Obviously if blood pressure wasn’t fucking 140/100 I wouldn’t be posting or concerned!!

I would suggest stopping 'trt' and do a 'pct'....any doctor that puts a patient on trt for low free test is a moron, imo.

We’re not doctors though. I think you should consult with a good doctor before you make anymore decisions or before you stop/start taking anything else.

Khm khm 😀

Yeah, seriously. All of my problems started roughly a week post my last phlebotomy. Malaise, shortness of breath, palpitations...
But i drained roughly (maybe even 1800, lost track of, ohhh maaan am i an idiot) 1600ml of blood in about 6 weeks.

Symptoms of anemia with hemoglobin over 160 g/l !

Turns out you can have all these symptoms without being anemic.
Check this out: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5986027/

seems like you need ferritin of 100+ to make symptoms go away. Considering that ferritin on an iron rich diet usually goes up by 1-4 points per week, i have a fukking long way to go (10-40 weeks).

Studies?

Or is this from your personal experience?

my hct is creeping up again but i aint donating again as my ferritin is barely 60. I eat grwpefruit everyday in hopes of lowering it (or at least preventing it from rising further, am on hcg monotherapy currently, blasting 2000iu per week before i come off).

Im really confused what's going on here. I don't understand why you were put on trt. From what I've gathered op Your Dr. Seems like a moron. You dont seem to really have a understanding of how this stuff works. Your symptoms and bloodwork does not seem fitting for someone on less then 500mg of test let alone a trt dose.

Am I on the right page here?

I breezed through it. What gets me is I can't understand how some ppl cannot tolerate such a low dose of testosterone. Does any1 know what makes this happen or is it just genetic

I actually watched a video about it..doctor was speaking how some caucasian males are prone to it, and it is not only full blown polycythemia rubre vera.
There are primary and secondary causes of polycythemia.

primary causes are genetic. Secondary are sleep apnea, excess androgens etc.

I take quercitin daily and my hematocrit levels hover around 47, I know there are studies on IP6 if you look it up, it basically chelates iron levels

Oh ok so it keeps the hct from rising by decreasing the amount of iron available to your body for utilization?

then that is no good for me. I need to have my ferritin higher.

every week you replace half of your RBC. I don't donate and every once or twice a year, i'll take 3-4 weeks off and HCT drops significantly in that time, to baseline. I would imagine 2 weeks will be plenty

you need to get off TRT for a little while. I get shortness of breath around 52 HCT. Your blood pressure combined with your hemo is bad news.

This ^^

some people over here dont think that is hogh but i personally start to wake up with numb arms when hct gets to 51. And i dont feel comfortable being that high.

it needs to be below 0.50 for me to feel fine as naturally without exogenous test i am at around 0.47.

Eating one grapefruit a day helped. My current protocol is 62.5mg test 2x per week and 750 iu hcg 2x per week (lowered from 3x oer week, hefty dose, but i will be coming off in a few weeks) with 12.5mg aromasin 2x per week (day of injections, both hcg and test are injectef the same day).

also people are saying best to avoid ai. I agree, bit i dont feel right if i dont take one. First of all, i have no libido and secondly i start to get that weird feeling of sadness like it would take very little to make me feel very down/depressed. I start to feel down if i dont take an ai.
With aromasin, libido is great.

My labs were as follows:

16th of september
Hct 0.51
Hb 178
Rbc count 6.02

Started earing grapefruit maybe a day or two later

30th of september (this monday)
Hct 0.498
Hb 167
Rbc count 5.6

And i have even been spending a portion of the week at 2000' elevation.

Taking into account that my values were rising prior to 16th, a week prior to that i was at hb 172 and hct 0.507.

Grapefruit works and this is the second timd it helped. Last time i ate one grapefruit per day for almost a month and hct was 0.453 with hb at 156.

Most importantly, i am jot waking ul with numb arms anymore.

edit: both test were done first thing in the morning with exactly 2 cups of water 30 minutes before (i always have the same schedule when i draw blood).

Bingo. Same at 52 and up. I can tell. And surprisingly, not even a half pint will drop mine significantly. I think guys go off stuff they read online where people are donating a pint every month. I would have tanked rbc my the second pint.
