Just for fun I tried to see if I could find any political affiliation but I couldn't find anything definitive in either direction.

On a more philosophical level it could be argued that providing bail limits the power of the state which would align with a conservative / libertarian political philosophy.

That being said, I have no desire to dictate what you eat. ;)

the origin is bail project out of nyc, look up names of founding members and their affiliations...I will not be eating any crow this time, lol.

the evidence against this guy was a victim with face/head injuries and the guy had violent conviction for assault. this is not someone who should have been out on bail.

actually I think the state got it wrong...bail should have been much higher for a guy previously convicted of a violent crime, plus having that much evidence against him in the domestic abuse case.
 
So now NYC and DeCrazio is unveiling a plan to ban glass and steel skyscrapers and also wants to start punishing private building owners up to 1 million dollars in fines if they dont retrofit their buildings to be 30% more energy efficient by 2030.

Read in my local paper a lot of people have fled way outta southern tier NY. I just bought my first house last year, I’m in it till my brain burns to the ground lol

yeah, I have a feeling when democrats get back in WH they will do the same to the country as they have done to NY and California, I own my house so I'm not going anywhere either.

They just banned Kate Smith's version of "God Bless America" in Yankee Stadium the other day. Was there yesterday it was so odd not to hear it in the 7th inning...been hearing it for decades on TV and almost 20 years that Ive been going there.

All over a few questionable lines she sang on some movie songs all the sudden she is a racist and needs to be condemned. They even put a black tarp over her statue in Phili.

So, in this case you'd be comfortable with "bigger gov." in the form of more state power to impose higher bails and/or more ability to hold offenders without bail?

you can see I am a layman with no formal training in law...I hold the opinion that a error in judgement was made in this particular case, that doesn't mean I am willing to throw out the presumption of innocence.....

I think he definitely has a good shot. People will vote for him because they agree with his views, because they think he'll be just like Obama, because he's not Trump, and because they like how he fights back and is willing to go low like Trump. All that said, he knows exactly the toll that it takes on people and their family, so not sure why he would want to go through with it.

he gained fame as a senator during the anita hill/Clarence Thomas hearings...he definitely knows how to go low.

I remember biden as a senator, he was even more of an ass then than now.


I disagree, biden isn't leftist enough for the new young radicals...hell I don't think Obama would make it through primaries if he were starting out today-the radicals seem to be in control of the democratic party.

I keep warning people. It keeps swinging back further and further each time. Nobody ever wants to be rational when their party is in control and so they go full on crazy and it inspires the other side to out crazy them the next time.

I'm definitely not for Warren or her student loan forgiveness program, and that's coming from somebody who ran up over $100k in student loans. I was young and stupid when I did, but it's still my responsibility to pay off. I think colleges, especially state colleges, need to lower their tuition drastically, but what's be done is done.

I think your boy from Indiana ;) Buttigieg has a chance too. There's still a long way to go!

biden is already meeting resistance from the young radicals. I saw a line that summed it up for me-'millennials want someone to lead their generation, not someone to lead the country'.

Buttigieg has a better chance getting through primaries than biden, imo. the only problem is most people when asked who they are voting for won't be able to pronounce Buttigieg-I have a feeling his slogan will be vote for PETE, lol.

Can’t argue with you on the SA front but we needed tariffs put in place decades ago. Sure it’s rough now but it will win out in the long run. What we need to do is stop buying anything from China. We shouldn’t have to compete with their slave labor and they are our biggest enemy on many fronts.

Russia isn't over. Now that they know Trump is willing to cover for any election tampering because it means an asterisk on his presidency to admit they did in fact interfere, this next election is going to be an even bigger joke. He has absolutely no problem putting his ego before our country.

Tariffs aren't an intelligent tactic in this case, especially when dealing with a country like China. They can bend further than we can and the people who are going to get hurt the most are Trump's base of voters. Plus the WTO may be taking away some of that power because you can't just yell national security, you have to actually show it. Unfortunately, I have no doubt that Trump is willing to start a war to provide "proof" of the need for national security-based tariffs.
 
20 states and counting are passing bills to keep Trump off the ballot in their state if he doesn't produce his tax returns.

There will be a Democrat in the Whitehouse in 2020.

Russia isn't over? What does that even mean? If there was an issue with meddling why didn’t Obama, you know, the president, do anything about it? Why did he tell people to stand down? Russian meddling has happened for decades.

It doesn’t matter what I think or what you or I consider the standard. Special council leader Robert Mueller and subsequently William Barr said no collusion and no obstruction based on the standard of the law.

Just like you thinking he should show his taxes doesn’t matter. There are requirements for running for president and showing taxes isn’t one of them.
