Well ^^^^ responding to my own post I guess its time for change. The fight I was venting about was shown on a streaming service called DAZN (promoter eddie hearn has a big contract with them) where for $10 a month you can watch unlimited fights. Since my post HBO announced its boxing death and there is only one more fight or two they have scheduled and thats it with the Lamply, Kellerman and Jones era.
To bad ESPN dumped Teddy Atlas for not being inline with their politically correct nature these days and his heavy criticism that lame paq/horn fight. I think he was also going to open exposing all the corruption too which is bad for business. He got stuck doing all those armature fights all those years too, what a shame and what a bad time to lose him.
Thats one of the reasons their ratings are crapped over the years. Its leftist sports TV. They should just get back to sports or at least hire people based off their performance and not judge by their political leanings such as the way they dumped Kurt Schilling. They are really disgusting...and by that I have no issue with them hiring liberal sports commentators but they are just not fair.
I didnt think he lost that fight...at minimum a draw but I think he won. Although admittingly winning was still embarrassing after that performance.
Boxing promotion just sucks these days...that one should have been on the back cover of all the newspapers. That one that night was an all time classic!
HBO will no longer be involved with boxing after this year. It will be HBO, Showtime, ESPN and that new 9.99/mo app DAZN who just signed Canelo to the richest sports contract in history not long ago.
I ran into something earlier that they are going to replay it on Showtime, its still worth watching. Very interesting match to watch even if you know the result. Big fight feel the entire time, at least I thought so.
That Ukrainian fighter was really good, looking forward to seeing him again.
ESPN made a long term deal with Top Rank not long ago and has much more money invested in pro boxing.
I think normal ESPN but not 100% positive. Some fighters such as Keith Thurman dont wanna be PPV. They want to bring back boxing to mainstream TV. DAZN is all about ending the PPV, you pay $9.99 and your a part of the ecosystem and get to watch all the fights including "PPV" quality. DAZN basically took the WWE model.
Jarret Hurd was on the under-card on Saturday, I know you spoke very highly of him. Luis Ortiz was also on the undercard, his fight with Wilder was so memorable. He will be back in the mix on top.
I heard that one of those stupid twins got in the ring after hurd's fight...the twins are good fighters but I would love to see someone f' them up in the ring-I've never liked them!!! hurd is a good fighter but he tends to get careless at times, hopefully he has a good trainer, and is willing to listen and learn-he has a cast iron chin, but even cast iron can be broken.
He wasnt throwing that hook punch that got him injured, not the same fighter without that punch. Of course he probably isnt as fit as he was before the injury, and being at his age he isnt going to recover fast like the young athletes.
Thats the best fight coming up imo thats for sure.
Crawford is a monster though who just hit his prime, no disrespect to Kahn I always enjoy his fights. He did a good job agaisnt Canela...that was one big risk he didnt have to take jumping up in weight like that, props to him.
Who do you have on the Garcia vs Spence fight? Ive always loved Garcia but he is taking that same risk jumping up like Kahn did for Canelo. Im looking forward to this but I see Spence coming out with the win do to being the natural bigger man. Both are very talented.

I think Broners best success was super featherweight and lightweight divisions. The only real success at Welterweight was beating Malignaggi which doesnt say a whole lot. He is really a tiny (but muscular) guy at 5'6.5", his career downfall was going up to welterweight and also gaining all that junk fat partying between fights. He might still be undefeated if he kept serious and stayed at the lower weight classes but I did enjoy watching him fight Maidana, that was really entertaining.
