Liver cancer rates up 40%

HGP I want to chat with you about this stuff brother! I got deep into all this a few years ago and there are answers/ cures to sooo many things we see people treat for years and suffer. I've got 5 small kids... you know how many times they have been to the dr? Not quite once a year for a checkup (because mostly just worthless office visits) ...but never bc of illness. Been lucky enough to utilize said treatments and cure things QUICKLY. Get rid of the free market in healthcare = more centralized power = no more choices for the average joe....no, not big evil pharma. Giant billion dollar pharma that decides to guide your health in a way they can profit the best....just like any large business would do to continually grow. So off topic a bit - I just get fired up reading this subject! Cool to know I'm not the only "crazy" one around here!

Maybe we could open a threat in "general chat". Like: "What ails you? Members interchange knowledge about their afflictions". Something like that.

Probably due to more alcohol abuse. Society is depressed now compared to before when people didn't need much. Every kid is running sprund with a 500 dollar phone. People lived a simple life back in the days now you can't anymore.

I wonder is boozing it up rates up or down

Back on topic, it seems to be really in people aged 55+ where the increased rate is occurring, with little, if any, increase in people aged 25-54. Definitely not bodybuilding drugs lol.

Well of course there's more booze and more drugs now. People are stressed out like never before. It's like you have to have a million dollars or else you haven't succeeded.

Yeah this tells me people now has better nutrition served on the table while the older generation had to (work) to have food on their table not to mention work their asses off to support our lazy generation. The stress I've seen with my parents compared to what I had to experience is absurd. My dad had to walk to school during the Arctic winter for 8 kilometers every day, my friend had a cab ride when he was a kid. I took my bicycle or got a ride from my parents and it was barely 2km. The money we have no compared to what my parents have also isn't comparable. We're lucky to be born now

We are fortunate, but I’d disagree that nutrition is better today, as evidenced by the obesity epidemic among the younger generations.

Well more people get more (nutrition) at young age I should say rather than the food is always better. Obesity is just a sideffect of having too much and more access to it. We still live longer today even though the carb diets has increased many diseases.its safer to eat **** than to not eat at all and fortunately in countries like the US very few people don't have food on the table. Its much more important for the development as kids than it is at adult age.

IMHO, if the statistics are true, processed food, pesticides in food and over-prescribed drugs play certainly a role.

Yup I believe so too. It's an epidemic of have whatever whenever. We do have the technology, the money etc to produce great food and even better than before but due to mass production, throwing away food, over fishing we have to be careful with what we buy.

I remember seeing a statistic that broke down what food stamps were spent on in the US. More than 50% of food stamp $$ were spent on either Pepsi or coke. I know that amount of sugar isnt great on the body at all. And I dont mean to point to 1 group bc my suspicion is that it's like that across a lot of other demographics. Just the fact that so many people pick coke and a ding dong over chicken and broccoli....day after day after day. I know tons of people that dont drink water! Why would you when theres some sugar filled drink next to you. Just piling on to what you've already said but it doesnt make it surprising to see some of these diseases power on more than ever. My guess is it's going to get a lot worse until we reach some sort of breaking point. Chados is spot on...lifes too easy compared to ___(pick a generation)

Now my gut instinct would agree but it’s an area that interests me so I happen to know that (in the uk at least) our alcohol consumption per capita decreased between 2004 and 2017. The number of teetol individuals rose a couple of percent since 2010. The percentage of adults who binge drink has been dropping etc....

Uk consumption was and is still higher than the USA but I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a similar trend the other side of the pond.

However, I have a theory (not backed up by studies) that as a society we are becoming polarised with regard to our health. By that I mean that the percentage of average people is decreasing and instead we have increases on those that are above averagely healthy and increases with below average health. I.e people either really give a fcuk about their health or they really don’t........

It’s the only way I think we can explain the simultaneous increases in both ‘healthy lifestyle foods/gyms/exercise classes and an ever increasing obesity epidemic (again based on uk but assuming you guys are similar?)

No i think you're absolutely right and that was sort of my point. Even if alcohol consumption decreases it doesn't mean the people that are alcoholics are drinking less. I think there are far more people being depressed and arguably taking drugs rather than alcohol due to the access of it. I think the bigger problem nowadays isn't really alcohol but benzo, marijuana, coke and anti depressive sometimes mixed with other substances.

I'm not on the US although I've lived there. The difference between UK and Scandinavia is that we're massive on coffee and you on tea. You eat more scones and we a bit more bread. We do implement the English breakfast very often to our daily diet. In general I'd say Sweden is one of the healthier countries because our food is extremely protected by laws. I've never heard anyone having food poisoning here.

Yeah I think sugar is a big problem for people. I mean even water seems to be unique to a lot of people. Sugar is so incredibly addictive but also so easy to get cured from by staying away from it a couple of days as long as you maintain bloodsugar.

I'm sure you guys have seen the guru Ameen Alai *spelling...he claims almost all health priblems are caused by sugar...puts out a pretty compelling argument. I'll throw it up here if I can find it again.

I haven't but I've always assumed that's the biggest problem. Just look at how much heart attacks, strokes, diabetes which is a disease we kinda created by adding sugar.

In all fairness, there were still diseases before people ate a ton of added sugar. Now, sugar may exacerbate most Heath problems, but you can’t say it is the only/sole cause of them.

Yep, those that are fcuked are fcuked to a greater degree than previously.....

Sorry bro, don’t know why I assumed you were in the states. I’ve always felt Scandinavian Countries are some of the healthiest in the world, not just from a good point of view but also lifestyle. When I read about shortened working weeks (with increased productivity) and then you see the ‘happiness’ ratings of citizens it always seems to be that part of the world.

Scandinavia is not only Sweden.
I always thought the Norwegians were heavy drinkers, having a distillery in their basements. Someone told me.

Obviously, but to be fair nobody said anything about it being the sole cause. And it doesnt matter where the disease comes from, if your diet is very high in sugar your going to have a hell of a time getting your body to fight back in the way it should. Human body is an amazing tool....give it what it needs and it will take care of itself

Nope I don’t just mean the swedes. The danish and Finnish also seem pretty sound and happy. Plus Norway and Finland supposedly have amazing scenery.

Never thought of the the Norwegians as heavy drinkers myself but also don’t know any.......

Maybe my friend, living in Norway told me that to downplay his own drinking problem, lol. I did a quick google search, as you said, nothing is known about an alcoholism crisis in Norway.
Okay, now lets talk about Russia and alcoholism.

Finland is alright, Norway and Sweden is where the nature is and ofcourse Island which isn't Scandinavia but Nordic countries

Nah more Denmark and Finland (especially Finland) but I think it was more before in the 1900s due to war and ****. That we make booze in the basement is definitely true all around Scandinavia but it's very few though but still easily attainable:D

Alcohol is disgustingly expensive here

If there's something we're known for its not to be offended.. We all good bro :D

“Russia and alcoholism” is a bit redundant, no?

Not in Cali. A lot of people bitch about Trump. But a lot of people are working again. Decent jobs too. I feel like heavy drinking isn't even really popular in the US. Opiates are much more of a problem.

Poverty rates and obesity go hand in hand.
I'm not sure somebody can be poor and obese. We have a privelaged view on poverty.

BK has 10 nuggets for $1. I agree that “US poverty” often isn’t close to poverty in the rest of the world, but a lot of poor people by US standards eat a lot of fast food. Yeah, cooking your own rice and beef and eggs is insanely cheap, but often times poor/uneducated people were never taught how to shop, budget, or even really cook. It’s unfortunate, and probably would be more useful to learn in school than most things they teach.

I've noticed states are almost like different countries with politics and morals. In Louisiana and the South people are drinking and driving quite often, politics are different than in other places etc. I think it's more common with opiates and a little alcohol rather than more alcohol as it was before. The more access to the better thing, the more we'll use it. New Zealand was one where people drink and drive and wake up hungover for work, same with Australia. It's extremely hard in Scandinavia as you'd most likely be fired if they find out, you also will always have to use a breathalyzer every time a cop stops you regardless for what, which is quite risky. In the US they do a balance test. Heck sometimes I've been stopped and they ask, you've had any drink sir? Nope.. Alright have a good day, you too officer.

Opiates has increased heavily where I live for sure and I live in a small city so you kinda know the people whos passed way in some way. I still can't fathom they prescribe xanax for my friend cause he's scared of flights.. It's redicilous how easy it is to get it. In Thailand you can walk in to a pharmacy and ask for it and they'll hand it to you without questioning.

Isn't the Thai thing because the government wants people off kratom?
So they pass out opiates like candy.

I'm Scandinavia? Absolutely not, kratom isn't something thats really known here. In Thailand? Nah they just give you anything for money there.
