Aspirating

I used to do it, but I haven’t really been doing it anymore. Can be detrimental if anything considering that the needle will be more likely to move around while doing so.

I thought the same... I did my first pin in the glute and being bent around like that is an awkward position that makes me shake and I’m afraid of bending the needle... they don’t even teach nurses to aspirate now..

I’m right handed and I can’t imagine objecting my left glute and trying to aspirate while holding the syringe stable... idk might just skip the aspirating on the left side glute... such a small change anyways

I aspirated my first few pins. I have done hundreds since then and have not aspirated since those first few. The aspirating ended up causing more movement than anything.

Hundreds of injections and never aspirated

Nope. Not ever, and won't. My wife has been in the game for 30 years and she never did nor was she ever instructed to.
CDC Policy isn't to aspirate for IM.
