Staying on track/Lack of motivation....

Hey guys...

So after the holidays this year I have been having a lot of trouble going back to maintaining a more strict diet and training regimen.

What are some tips or tricks you guys use to help you stay on track with your diets?

I seem to be having a hard time switching back to eating my usual "bro foods" (chicken, beef, fish, rice, asparagus, etc) as its just so plain and flavorless that I am rarely finding those meals appetizing (literally have to force them down most times as I honestly just dont look forward to eating them at all regardless of how hungry I let myself get).

How do you guys keep your diet on track as far as your macros go while rotating out the food you eat so that you dont get bored of eating the same crap day after day every week without throwing your macros off?

I get sick of eating the same thing for more than a few days in a row so me and my lady usually prep meals for 2 days at a time but even then we only have so many options as far as what we can cook or prep.

How do you guys keep yourselves from getting bored of your diet or from eating the same foods over and over again? It seems there are only so many "meat head friendly" recipes that one can incorporate into their regimen.

Any sources for bodybuilding recipes or cookbooks would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely helps! Good call. You could look into some spices like FlavorGods if you don't want to get creative concocting your own spices.

Another thing is open up a flexible approach to fitting your macros. Things like 0% fat Green Yogurt w/ sugar free cheesecake pudding mix mixed up really well, then you can throw some cereal like fruity pebbles or something in there as a snack to relief from the boring of bro foods 24/7.

Hot sauce and siracha are go to for me. Cook with Thai chili sauce, has a few carbs. Try the mixing your whole meal together deal. Cheat meals. It's not easy, just a few tips that I use. Gotta go off track every once in a while, just not overboard.

Thanks for the input guys!

Ya we have the occasional cheat meals on the weekends usually when we start our diets to sort of give us a little break from the normal stuff.

My lady usually does most of the cooking for us and she is actually really good at making different ethnic dishes. Its just unfortunately, not all of it is "bodybuilder friendly"

So its difficult for her and i to "meal prep" since neither of us like eating the same meals day after day and we can only do the bro foods for so long until we absolutely get sick of it

Actually I should probably just speak more for myself in that department because shes actually able to withstand eating the same foods for a lot longer than I can.

But man, it really sucks that there isnt a larger variety of food or dishes that are specifically catered to building muscle or whatever said goal.

There has to be some kind of bad ass fitness cook book out there.

Hey guys...

So after the holidays this year I have been having a lot of trouble going back to maintaining a more strict diet and training regimen.

You need to learn different cooking techniques. Bro foods aren't boring and bland unless you cook them that way, Use different spices. Use different cooking techniques. Use dry and wet marinades to flavor your food. Even something like veggies add a little cheese to them if you do not like them plain. Eat foods you like.

Also, don't restrict yourself to bro foods. I like to follow a 90/10 or 80/20 rule EVERYDAY of the week. Meaning daily, I will allow myself to give 10-20% of my calories to "dirty" foods. I will also have a single cheat meal weekly in addition to those clean foods.

The biggest issue I see with most people is when they want to make health conscious decisions, they completely make a 180 and deprive themselves of the foods they really like. Most of us cannot do that. Slowly transition into "bro" foods.

How do you guys keep your diet on track as far as your macros go while rotating out the food you eat so that you dont get bored of eating the same crap day after day every week without throwing your macros off?
Personally, I pretty much eat the same foods everyday in a way. For example, Monday-Friday, my foods change. However, I eat the same foods every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc. unless I am off of work one day in the week. Then I will change things up since I can cook. Again, this does not get boring to me because I eat foods I enjoy. Weekends, it varies depending on what I am doing. I have macros I stick to, but will eat different foods and go out to eat a few times a month.

I get sick of eating the same thing for more than a few days in a row so me and my lady usually prep meals for 2 days at a time but even then we only have so many options as far as what we can cook or prep.
Use easy to prep foods such as potatoes, pasta, rice, yogurt, different types of meat, etc. and rotate what you at daily. Eat beef one day then the next, chicken, then the next fish.

How do you guys keep yourselves from getting bored of your diet or from eating the same foods over and over again? It seems there are only so many "meat head friendly" recipes that one can incorporate into their regimen.
Allow yourself free foods, 10-20% of your daily calories, to come from foods you enjoy.

There aren't really bodybuilding recipes. For the most part, bodybuilders just follow a diet higher in protein, carbs, or fat depending on their macros at the time. You can find some protein powder recipes that are more geared towards bodybuilders. Just search them on Google and The Solution has a youtube channel that has great ones as well. The website below is also a good start.

Don't worry so much about the "bro foods" and focus more on hitting a macro number...

you can get your protein from anything; normal "bro items" (chicken/fish/beef/etc) or you can get it from more exotic sources like lamb, veal, beans, eggs, etc etc... you can even add flavorless powders to things if you just want the protein but not the physical "meats"

carbs can come from anything as well (tho I wouldn't suggest getting them all from sugars ha). Rice, pasta, beans, veggies, potatoes, etc etc... possibilities are endless

fats are easy too, oils, butters, nuts, all make any meal taste better.

Any dish in existence can be a "muscle friendly" dish, you just need to understand what the overall macro content is and supplement the dish itself with whatever it might be lacking or pair it with things that are complimentary.

Want Mexican? Anything in a shell//wrap will be meats (protein), veggies/beans, carbs, and fats (cheese, guacamole, etc)... all good things.
Want Italian? Spaghetti and meatballs (meat and carbs) with oil and bread... protein carbs and fats...

literally everything is a bodybuilding food, you just need to balance the overall meals through the day and week. Have high carb day, then a low carb day... pasta mondays, steak tuesdays, etc. Not every meal has to be a perfect 40/40/20 protein/carb/fat ratio

Thanks bud, thats actually a great way to look at it... And you're absolutely right about having the right ratios of carbs to fats to proteins. Its just hard structuring my diet back into that after getting so comfortable eating whatever/whenever.

Lol I guess thats what happens when you run a cycle of tren and get too fuggin confident in your "enhanced" metabolism thinking "I can keep eating like this and keep looking good"

hahaha it sucks ass man... wish I could just run that **** year round with ZERO side effects

Don’t we all haha.

But realistically, just start with small changes vs going from free to 100% strict. Something like make sure to get 3-4 palms worth of protein a day (from whatever sources). Have a handful of veggies with each meal... little things. Slowly work up to chicken rice and broccoli haha

You’re totally missing what I’m saying... you don’t need to ever eat chicken and rice plain. That’s for peak week competitors. Normal people eat normal foods that they enjoy. Sure you might have to choose between loaded tacos and a salad and triple layered nachos and hot dogs with ice cream on the side but that’s not too dramatic

Exactly. I would eat the tacos, nachos, hot dogs and ice cream and skip the salad to cut calories. #fitness
