Ok you “seasoned lifters”, for our older joints and backs, what mattress do you recommend?

Anyone using the adjustable head/leg base? Thoughts?

I have a high quality Tempurpedic knock off I like way better than my Sealy Posturepedic. Held it's shape for 5 years, medium firm. And I already have bulged L2/L3 lumbar discs at 38 yrs old. Minor, no nerve stenosis but the bed and chair support matters way more now.

It's a SwissLux 10" European firm from overstock.com

Latex Beds (thicker the better, you should be afraid to fall off thick), adjustable base.... bad injury back in 03....bed lasts forever, and keeps my pain to tolerable.

I have a hard as hell bed and have tried three different toppers with no success. It’s only 4 years old but I may have to get a new one soon.

Not necessarily a "seasoned lifter", but I've had a Tempurpedic for the last 10 years. Getting ready to replace it with another one.

Are tempurpedic worth the price given all the memory foam alternatives available

Not sure. We bought our first one before there were so many options. Now, I'm not sure I'm willing to bet on it. I know what I'm getting with Tempurpedic. If there was a money back guarantee I could see trying it.

Swiss Lux, $314 for King, I own the queen one for 5 years and with wife and new baby they take it many nights... I get stuck on the Sealy Posturepedic. I want to get a 2nd in King as soon as I file taxes lol :).

Even if it died at year 6, doubtful, I could buy what like 4-5 of these for one Tempurpedic. And the 10 year service plan addon is affordable.

EDIT just doubled down and grabbed myself the King to match the Queen I have. 10 year std warranty, and $50 for service plan against stains, accidents, etc. $360 for a quality tempurpedic knock off from Swiss Lux. IF you don't want to finance your bed for $2-3k, or aren't pulling in ~$250k annually or more, just do this.

IIRC, my last tempurpedic (California King) was $2700. I looked at a Sleep Number set up a few months back and was amazed at how much they can be. Two things I don't skimp on anymore are shoes and a mattress. 95% of my life is spent on one or the other. YMMV

They had one set up that tracked your sleep and made adjustments automatically. Plus it was heated and cooled and I thought it also had a fan that blew under the blankets from the foot of the bed (?). I wanna say it was over 10 k

Wow, that’s exactly what I need! Even in the winter, I have my fan on because I hate my legs being hot!

Performasleep has treated me well. Purchased a couple of months ago. ALL of my lifts went up a noticeable amount soon after mainly due to my sleep sucking before that.

Our sleep number was like $5k. Adjustable base with massage.

Worse bed ever, basically a $5,000 air mattress

Wow. Kinda glad I went cheap on mine. Everyone that went expensive on theirs says they suck. I got the basic model and love it

I change mine based on how I feel or how sore I am. My wife stays at the same number
I got one too - have not had it too long and have not adjusted it yet - its at 80-85 I think. So when your sore you soften it up a bit?

I keep it around 70, and when I'm sore. I will drop it to 55-60
