The Walnut facility at 381 S Brea Canyon Road will lay off 122 workers effective Oct. 26. The industrial site is 298,050 square feet, according to data firm CompStak.

lay off total of 524 employees.

Word on the street is they are going to exclusively be moving into walmart.

Bought a quest bar today, CCCD to be exact, tasted so bad i wanted to bin it lol
 
Never liked the bars for their texture, but it's not to see a company lay off workers to stay competitive in lieu of distribution through a place like Welfairmart.
 
Per the comments in the Facebook thread linked by PP, it looks like they're moving to have their products co-manufactured instead of manufacturing them themselves

Just like how some bigger named companies have 3rd party vendors do all the shipping. The demand is so large they can't keep up with it themselves.
Quest sold over $100 million last year. Thats bonkers for protein bars and snacks.

It's even more bonkers when you realize they were doing $300 million a couple years ago.

Imagine how many millions in bars were recalled over those years...... The QC on some bars and their inconsistency sometimes I question.
Hell I have got some packages that the bars were under 50g when the label claims 60g a bar in weight. Sometimes I get batches that have had absolutely no taste to them. makes me wonder how fast they pump them out and how much testing they put into making sure each and every batch coming out is as it should be (Weight, taste etc..)

Just shows that their margins were too high and now the common folk have to pay. Typical capitalistic practices...

The goal of any company is to grow and continue making money. Yeah it sucks for the workers, but they will find work elsewhere and if they are smart they have planned and strategized for if this were to ever happen to them.

I'm not too familiar with the job market for those positions, but you either have a marketable skill in an industry that allows you to have comfort in your career opportunities, or you know you're not a skilled worker and should have savings and a back up for if this were to happen.

That really doesn't matter to me as much as this could be bad PR like this could backfire, and in an effort to remain competitive and cut costs to improve the profit margins, customers could leave in droves. I've come close to buying one of them, but now, for certain I will never buy one.

A good company will assist their employees find work, a great company will do one better and offer severance. My family business took care of the employees when we closed our doors. They didn't have to, but these were more than employees, they were extended family who've been with the company for years. It hurt, but it was the right thing to do. Of course if you read the Invalid Link Removed page, they never really mention the importance of their people, just marketing BS and a brief synopsis of their struggle as a small group starting out. Rather droll, and boring to read actually.
 
I bought a one blueberry cobbler bar this weekend.... It was amazing, better than any quest bar I've ever had. Random I know I'm just saying

No. I was going to mention them and glad you did.
Oh Yeah! One bars are the only protein bars I buy these days. The Blueberry Cobbler is damned good, but my favorite so far is Birthday Cake. I tried the Keylime Pie and about hurled though... tossed it out the window. It tasted like soap to me. Maybe it was a bad batch? My Bar is great too.

Will have to give it a try. As soon as they changed the formula from their very first releases it was all down hill for me personally. Every bar I got seemed to get worse lol. Too many good options out there now to choke down poor tasting bars.
 
I just had an OH YEAH! Keylime Pie bar and it was horrible. It tasted like eating a bar of soap to me.
 
The fact they made a cinnamon roll bar with 2g of sugar, 14g of fiber, and 20g of protein is amazing. Hope they do well, but $2.70 for that was ridiculous.
 
Their bars are terrible now and you get sick of eating them after a day or so.

No reason to buy them again, way better stuff on the market.

they should of sold three years ago. The competition they created is insane.
 
Something to be said for being first, but I agree the ONE bars are hands down better in flavor and texture.

That's the bar business but we still keep buying them!
