Donald Trump running for president

Yes. So many have lost everything and more most likely to come with more rain on it's way.

It hit a patch of deep warm water to give it unexpected strength right before landfall and that high pressure on the north west is making the storm stuck and stay put in texas.

Never in my life Ive seen such a slow moving hurricane like this, its crazy.

yes, I am much more concerned about the welfare of the people in texas[many of whom don't have flood insurance], than I am about rather a 85 year old man in Arizona goes to jail or not...

The Senate Intelligence Committee recently passed its Intelligence Authorization Act for 2018 that contains a chilling attack on the First Amendment. Section 623 of the act expresses the “sense of Congress” that WikiLeaks resembles a “non-state hostile intelligence service often abetted by state actors and should be treated as such.” This language is designed to delegitimize WikiLeaks, encourage the federal government to spy on individuals working with WikiLeaks, and block access to WikiLeaks’ website. This provision could even justify sending US forces abroad to arrest WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange or other WikiLeaks personnel.

WikiLeaks critics claim that the organization’s leaks harm US national security. However, these critics are unable to provide a single specific example of WikiLeaks’ actions harming the American people. WikiLeaks does harm the reputations of government agencies and politicians, however. For example, earlier this year WikiLeaks released information on the CIA’s hacking program. The leaks did not reveal any details on operations against foreign targets, but they did let the American people know how easy it is for the government to hack into their electronic devices.

For the last year, most of the news surrounding WikiLeaks has centered on its leak of emails showing how prominent Democrats worked to undermine Senator Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign. In order to deflect attention from these revelations, Democrats, aided by their allies in the media and even some Republicans, promulgated a conspiracy theory blaming the leaks on Russian hackers working to defeat Hillary Clinton. Even though there is no evidence the Russians were behind the leaks, many in both parties are still peddling the “Putin did it” narrative. This aids an effort by the deep state and its allies in Congress and the media to delegitimize last year’s election, advance a new Cold War with Russia, and criminalize WikiLeaks.

If the government is successful in shutting down WikiLeaks by labeling it a “hostile intelligence service,” it will use this tactic to silence other organizations and websites as well. The goal will be to create a climate of fear to ensure no one dares publish the revelations of a future Edward Snowden or Chelsea Manning.

Some have suggested that criticizing police brutality, the surveillance state, the Federal Reserve, or even federal spending aids “hostile foreign powers” by weakening the people’s “trust in government.” This line of reasoning could be used to silence, in the name of “national security,” websites critical of the welfare-warfare state.

By labeling WikiLeaks a “hostile intelligence service” and thus legitimizing government action against the organization, the Senate Intelligence Authorization Act threatens the ability of whistleblowers to inform the public about government misdeeds. It also sets a precedent that could be used to limit other types of free speech.

President Trump should make it clear he will veto any bill giving government new powers to silence organizations like WikiLeaks. If President Trump supports the war on WikiLeaks, after candidate Trump proclaimed his love for WikiLeaks, it will be further proof that he has outsourced his presidency to the deep state.

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, along with notable whistleblowers, foreign policy experts, and leading champions of peace and liberty, will be addressing this important issue at my Institute for Peace and Prosperity’s conference on Saturday, September 9 at the Dulles Airport Marriott Hotel in Dulles, Virginia outside of Washington, D.C. Well certainly....unlike some certain multi-billion dollar interests portray it deceiving and manipulating the minds of the youth and globe, the USA is the most open culturally diverse and least racist country in the world imho.

do you remember my 20% rule? you eliminate 10% of radicals from BOTH the left and right and the rest of us would get along just fine....just like in grade school, the troublemakers get all the attention.

I'm for 100% to go away including the so called "middle." I want no part of this conditioned way of what they tell you people are supposed to think like and what sides exist and belong to and this"moderate" bullcrap moderate to what????

(I get your point bigt that wasn't a statement towards yours lol)

my wife was crying watching scenes of those people in texas...we decided to donate a check to the red cross...

after all the division the media has been hyping, it is inspiring to me to see the outpouring of support for the people of texas!!!

Sadly, the only thing that bring people together (helping each other without knowing each other etc) is natural disaster

sad but true...I am reassured by this unity though-I will take what I can get

Sadly, the only thing that bring people together (helping each other without knowing each other etc) is natural disaster

It's a disaster because people don't know what to unit for, they are all controlled by ideas rather than making their society work.

I never thought it was that divisive anyways the way the media has portrayed the USA to be. Im very happy with what I am seeing, although Im not surprised at all with all the unity and neighbors helping each-other. Unity and diversity is what was, is and will be the future of America. The media who with the backing of propagandist$$$ are forced to show America for what it is right now, and not some divisive clusterfuq illusion they try to create to promote to fuel divisiveness to shuttle political agenda$$$. The rotten corrupt media will be back to business as usual before you know it. Its up to us here in the USA to battle the real enemy which is them. They are plotting their next moves right now as people get distracted, moments of crisis are special interests most opportunistic time to execute their next crime unfortunately.

I believe the disaster they are referring to is the natural disaster caused by the hurricane.....

I did misread it but I'll still stand with my statement. People that aren't willing to sacrifice time or money to help out natural disasters(community) will be driven to help themselves rather then others. They're selfish and driven by private gain rather than societal prosperity.

The Texas disaster is horrible, what sucks is most people don't care to help(not including ones that can't financially). Most don't want to participate, even the most wealthy of our country.

Only a select few are willing to help society and they are real Americans. The one thing no one wants to be anymore.

I see a lot of donations going to so many different organizations all across the board....all little counts I don't think that there is evidence most people are selfish.

And yes we are the most "wealthy" country who is also 20 trillion dollars broke and also have a huge poor welfare state along with a current economic crisis...people have half their life savings and earnings taxed by force and keynsian economics...people have to go to work and pay their bills etc...

I mean come on CJ you making it sound we are a rotten selfish society which I strongly disagree.

What is is you want people to do and what is it that YOU are doing?

I'm personally proud of the people of the USA's actions as of now.

I never said I did, I don't have the resources to be able to up but I will be talking to someone at my job about what I can do since I'm new.

I am blaming the selfish within society not the society for being selfish. There is more that can be done, plus there are many many areas in the US that still need help from past natural disasters but no one care before the media isn't covering it. Everyone care about what's relevant not what's right.

I can ramble all about how the government has no structure and is based upon private gain but in reality that what our society is too, the government needs to step in to do what they are so pose to do. It's the individual's duty to do the same if they can. I understand there are those who can't help and I'm not talking about them. I'm talking about the ones the can help but don't, if we ignore the selfish and lazy in society than we condone the behavior.

To be fair, let's give him a minute to correct himself...oh wait, he's doubling down on stupid!

Being an real American requires offending almost the entire population with stereotypical slanders while forum hopping in the middle of a crisis I guess.

I never said I did, I don't have the resources to be able to up but I will be talking to someone at my job about what I can do since I'm new.

If you have time to complain about what other people may or may not be doing, then you have time to volunteer. Helping others isn't just about writing checks. Be the change you want to see!

Get a second job and have the paychecks sent directly to the Red Cross then. Or quit your job and go help. Do something.

You can give your life to humanitarian causes ya know instead of wasting energy accusing everybody of being selfish and lazy.

to be honest I don't see all the hatred among different groups I see on tv...granted I live in a small town, but my interactions with everyone regardless of color or creed is as good as ever....im an easy going guy in real life [age has mellowed me] and have learned to get along with 'almost' everyone.

That's a very misguided statement, quitting my job won't help anyone, it's about being altruistic not virtue signaling. I won't dedicate my life to being just a humanitarian because there's more to life then just helping people. A second job sounds good gf I would be able to handle it but now you're just giving me alternatives they wouldn't even help me help anyone.

You complain about the government all the time, how about join up and change it from the inside? The government isn't all conspiracies, just misguided individuals. You seem to have a decent grasp on things, maybe you should be running something important.

You're 100% right and my job allows me to take time off to volunteer so I will look into it, I'm new and we're low staff now so I don't m ow if it'll get approved. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying everything wrong with our society is because no one wants to help society grow, only themselves. I understand we all need to survive but others do more then survive and it does effect our nation. I'm just sick of seeing it effect the overall perspective and reality of the US. There the the good that help and the bad that choose not it.

actually there is a good chance people would be willing to pay a modest amount for work that needs to be done...the problem I see is carpetbaggers coming into texas to prey on those misfortunate people....with insurance payouts and government money, predators and con artists are going to be many I fear...a good, honest, hardworking guy could make a decent income and help people at the same time-maybe even volunteer to help those who can't afford to pay?

It's sickening that this happens whenever there is a disaster. Predators ready to take advantage of good people who already lost everything or are looking to help. Another idea if people want to help is start a fundraiser...people do these all the time. Even if all you raise is $50, that's $50. It all adds up.

those kind of predators are right there- close second only to child molesters!!!

I have to believe there is a special place in hell for them!!!

There nothing wrong with making money while helping, it's when it's at the expense of the nation is when it's a issue. We all still need to survive.

A lot of people are helping and not selfish that's our primary disagreement. The USA is not a selfish society including many in better positions than I am and including many many rich people many who are contributing to this current crisis.

You offended the people of my country accusing them of being selfish and lazy when I know the far far more than you give credit for are not, that's my beef. So in that case go do something, nothing is in your way or stopping you other than yourself but don't be a hypocrite attacking my people and my society as a whole. Yeah we have problems I know that, the world isn't perfect but we are a VERY generous nation and society.

I joined up to change the government from the inside a long time ago, starting with my vote and next with my money. There are various activities I contribute my time and just a little money too that l participate in and want to grow in. I would never run for office I would be less effective in that position.

I 100% agree. you do what you can do!!!

even people who don't have much want to offer something in return, this has been my experience growing up poor-hopefully this hasn't changed!!!

That's why I usually give that dollar directly to a vet or vets running their small fund raiser than a big organization like a grocery store. I feel it's a safer bet that way.

If you look at where America was and where it is now, it's obvious a good about if generations have became stagnant and lazy(being lazy is selfish) for many outside reasons. That's how corporations and government officials get away with what they get away with. I don't care if people are offended, it's a reality. Can't you see it? Hell look at the about if obese people are in the US and how many die because of their obese yet even with that info out there no one thinks it's a legitimate issue or they prefer to self indulge.

If you choose to only see the good in society then you'll fall victim to the bad you ignore and don't speak out against. Americans NEED to be told America isn't great because no one should be satisfied with where we are and we're we're going.

You're not a part of the government if you just vote and pay taxes, the government is a part of you; you are a product of the government with that mentality. You didn't choose to pay taxes or vote, it's all you know and are willing to do. If you don't want to put in foot work and work up the latter to where ever you're needed then don't complain, nothing else you do will help change anything. Reality will just remain stagnant.

I'm not be hypocritical, I just recently found my direction and I sacrificing my life to attempt to get where I want to be so I can be change with direction. I am young so I have the years to sacrifice. I wish people like you were willing to do so too because mostly everyone working within government have no true direction to what works and what's good.

I don't know what you guys know about the 60's and 70's.... but when I look negatively at todays youth, I have to revisit what our parents must have thought of MY generation.....things have come full circle, lol.

Ok I have no true direction oops

So says the guy who slanders Americans of being selfish, greedy and lazy during our current hurricane crisis but hasn't done jack to do anything about anything himself but point fingers at society.

You keep telling people not to listen to CNN, but you're obviously being influenced by media that our society is supposedly so bad. What exactly is it you are doing to better society? You talk about virtue signaling in others, but all I see if you complaining about other people and blaming the country's problems on them, yet offer no solutions. No more empty words. What are you doing to better yourself and the country? If you're going to judge others, you need to be an example yourself.
