He banned countries that were of special interest from the previous administration which technically account for every citizen without discriminating religion.

I feel those judges were without a doubt the judges were using political biases for their judgment. Id bet if Obama pulled that off it would barely make the news. Yeah Dump said what he said during the campaign, like a building amount of things he said none of that really matters much anymore.
 
Here is the pertinent law, Title 8, Chapter 12, US Code 1182, courtesy of Cornell University Law’s website:

(f) Suspension of entry or imposition of restrictions by President

Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate. Whenever the Attorney General finds that a commercial airline has failed to comply with regulations of the Attorney General relating to requirements of airlines for the detection of fraudulent documents used by passengers traveling to the United States (including the training of personnel in such detection), the Attorney General may suspend the entry of some or all aliens transported to the United States by such airline.

I remember reading that law though a while back and I was certain he can ban non-citizens for whatever they want. The judges should not apply the Constitution to foreigners. That being said Im not saying that travel law is Constitutional or not but the way this was stopped just didnt seem right to me.

I will say the whole thing rolled out like a clusterfuq and was completely wrong to screw over people who already had visas and green cards and I didnt like it.

Where were all these courts the past 8 years, or 16 years when our Constitution was ripped to shreds at new heights? You really dont think there is political motivation with these judges?

Whoa. I'm not an Obama fan. He didn't go through proper channels for most of the killing he performed. I'm talking about our government system in a very general sense. Checks and balances. I'm not saying that there aren't people in our government that think they are king and shouldn't be questioned. I'm saying that they should be questioned and when they are is evidence that the system is working. Just because the last one got away with crap doesn't mean this one should.

Even if you don't believe that the Constitution applies to foreigners, it still applies to the actions of the government. Trump was cocky and has been tweeting all over the place about Muslims his entire campaign. Now it's coming back to haunt him.

But when a judge ignores the text of the actual order in question, there's a problem.

Does 1 single Federal Judge out of over 3,000 able to stop an executive order nationwide appear balanced though? That was my main gripe about the travel ban reversal. Just didnt seem right. Of course then it was up to 3 judges to maintain it, but thats another story but that also feels a little unbalanced. I do think Dump is already excessively abusing executive powers though.

I see what you're saying, but that's the system we have. It's also why there is an appeals process. I'm not convinced that Trump didn't word it that way so he could start the process to getting it up to the Supreme Court.

The revised one doesn't. Your typical tactics don't work on me. So accuse me of saying they did all you want, but I never said that. You seem to think the President can do whatever he wants about immigration without being accountable and I told you that you were wrong. You should have been taught about the branches of government and checks and balances in grade school. Marbury vs Madison was in 1803...this concept of judicial review has been around for a while.

elections have consequences-at least that is what Obama said when he started issuing all of those executive orders. I've got 50 cents on the supreme court siding with trump-wanna bet?

immigration falls under the purview of the president, this is one of the reasons I voted for trump. along with choosing the 9th supreme court justice!!!

the left cherry picked the lower courts to have their cases heard...almost 100% liberals.....I bet if the cases were heard here in Indiana the travel ban would already be in effect, lol.

Ya new Zeeland, Australia, most of the UK, Canada and others already have a travel ban of some sorts. May not be like what we are purposing. Maybe I shouldn't​ use the term ban either more like a very very tight vetting process. Trust me it took my friend 9 months to be able to get accepted to go on a mission​ in new Zeeland. He had zero criminal record not even a traffic ticket, lives in the US, met all medical requirements​, and yet it took that long and a a few email and letters by both him and the chruch he was going for to get approved. We purpose something like this and people would throw a sht fit.

Why through so much trouble? During the Obama years he gave border patrol the stand down order (according to border patrol court testimony) with no vetting or medical checks meanwhile TSA gropes my balls when I fly at airports.

Your friend should have just bought a cheap ticket to Mexico and walked across, lol

No not to get into the US. he is a us citizen. That was to get approved to live in new Zeeland for 2 years.

The latest EO is the one that matters, but again an activist judge failed to consider the text of the EO, or the law granting the President the authority to do it.

lol...back in the 80's I had to get a complete physical including bloodwork and a stool sample, then wait 6 months for results, then go to Chicago to phillipine embassy to get my passport stamped--to go to the phillipines, and this is when U.S. friendly marcos was in power!!!

lol...unfortunately the phillipines are islands, can't just walk over the border like here.

what is ironic is that thousands of philipinos worked at subic naval base, which is considered united states territory. all they had to do was show an ID card.

conditions have really changed since I was there, the navy base was closed and Islamic terrorism is rampant--when I was there the PI was predominately catholic- plus the new president seems very unfriendly to the U.S.

The law is that he can issue the order. You said the "activist judge failed to consider the text of the EO, or the law granting the President the authority to do it." Nobody stopped him from what he is allowed to do. Again, judicial review. Marbury vs Madison. You might not like it or agree with it, but it's been this way for centuries now.

Visitors visas are easy to get here, and US nationals shouldn't need one if they intend to stay <3 months. Other than that, if you want to stay longer you just have to apply for a visitor visa/ working visa. Those can be harder to get.

it's not a travel ban though, and we don't exclude whole nations.

I am sorry I set you off (are you freaking serious) and his old man gave him a million bucks to start his own business lol. And whenever he felt like it he would not pay his vendors for their services because he knew he could fukk over small business owners who couldn't sue him to get paid for work done. Yep thats why I re worded what I said. It's not a ban just tight vetting which I think EVERY country should do.

Didn't say it needs to change I said that all countries should do the same. Are vetting process is actually really good. Few things I might change but not much. Expect are land boarders but that is a different story.

what if they just illegally show up with no paperwork or documents and illegally obtain documents---if they committed murder in their home country who is to know since they now have a illegally obtained document under a different name?

there is a cottage industry for obtaining illegal documents here in the U.S.

'ALMOST' all of those illegals who are working here in the U.S are doing so with illegal documents.
