Hey guys and gals - I know KSM-66 is well loved on this board and for good reason. I have use ash extract in the past, but never KSM-66.

Lately I have been going through a lot of stress and having some issues. It is like I don't have any desire to deal with stress. Like the smallest things are overwhelming and I can't find the motivation to deal with them. It is a strange feeling and my normally sharp memory is getting fuzzy.

I just chalked this up to the fact that the stress has been overwhelming and chronic - but it occured to me that I started taking KSM-66 a few weeks back when the stress started piling up.

It isn't like the end of the world stress, so I am not looking for sympathy. It is just a lot of stress that is part of achieving good things and getting things done. But I am irritable, exhausted and the small things that go wrong can set me off as if they are overwhelming.

I did some searches and found a few people who had a paradoxical reaction like this to KSM-66. Has anyone on here experienced this?

For me, there was no side effect, neither I know someone who had that reaction.
Before I was feeling tired all the time and somewhat depressed. The same day I took KSM-66 I was in better state of mind.
I think its been 7 months now and it does not alter my heart rate and does not make me feel anxious like other herbs did.
I know my brother had to wait for the second week before feeling more alert and tension-free.
Maybe I could advise you to take Rhodiola Rosea at the same time which is also good for the same reasons.

What dosage do you take and at what time of the day?
To really light up the anxiety and improve your optimism you might want to take twice a day.
For me 600 mg per day feels like Valium except that I have more energy in my workout.
I take KSM 66 with my breakfast and second time 30 mins before bed.
Which brand are you using right now?

Yes. For me, ashwagandha (both KSM-66 and Sensoril) work great for a short period of time (around 2 weeks or so) but then after that I'm just tired all the time, very irritable, foggy and have no sex drive. It's awesome for social anxiety but I always end up stopping it due to the side effects.

Interesting. KSM-66 has a relaxing effect on me, and OL's Ashwagandha had me feeling exactly as you do.

In the past I used one of the NOW and give me more anxiety and irritability. I had to stop using it. But I've always taken on an empty stomach .... I would try to take it, but I have a little fear

Have you ever measured your Cortisol?

You should check your Cortisol levels before and after usage of Ashwagandha.
Your sides may be due to low Cortisol levels

You may be right. I tend to have the same reaction over the last year or two when taking any adaptogen for more than a few weeks.

Hey guys and gals -
Are you currently in a caloric surplus? Maint? Deficit? If deficit, how long have you been in it? When was your last surplus? You see where I'm going with this. I have a bad memory and can't recall if you have been in a "Perma-Cut" for a long azz time? If so - eat for a while.

Never measured. No real insurance and haven't been to a doctor in over a decade.

You are probably right....see below....

Yeah....so...I am an extreme dieter but I've been off my diet since the end of November. Over ate between Thanksgiving and early January and gained over 20 pounds. Not good, but...it happened.

At any rate, about a month ago I started cutting and couldn't get my sh1t together and really JUST got into a consistent deficit. But I have been feeling this over the last few weeks, which is when I started a few things.

One thing I was using was Evomuse Ammo, which I have used before and had good results...but never low cortisol level symptoms.

I figured part of it was low cortisol, so I dropped the Ammo a little less than a week ago. But what I HADN'T thought of was that In just started using PES's new multi in this timeframe too...and I've used bulk ashwagandha extracts, but never KSM-66.

The thing is, since dropping ammo, things haven't gotten much better. They actually have been worse the last couple days.

It could actually just be the stress in my life itself...but given all the love for KSM-66 ...if it does have any paradoxical data, it may be good to get out there.

Some research online has actually shown some case reports of hyperthyroidism that may have been caused by KSM.

I am going to keep at it and just fight through. If it is an adaptive, maybe it will turn something around.

I am using it in my PES multi. I take 1 pill in the morning, 1 in the afternoon and one at night. 200 mg in each pill.

Yeah - I am a little foggy. Profound lack of motivation and caring. Little stuff can set me off. I AM taking Testruction too...but this isn't like what I normally get with test boosters. It isn't an aggressive thing. It is actually the opposite...like I want to just get away from things, which isn't me at all...I am a stand and fight kinda guy.

And I typically have a fairly sharp memory and recall, and that isn't so clear lately.

In the past I used one of the NOW and give me more anxiety and irritability. I had to stop using it. But I've always taken on an empty stomach .... I would try to take it, but I have a little fear
The herb that strikes fear into users....but helps anxiety. Haha.

Interesting.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

Maybe a dose thing? OL and PES are on the short list of companies I somewhat trust, so the fact that I'm using PES and you tried OL is interesting. Maybe the other KSM wasn't as reliable? Again, I've used bulk powder extracts and had decent results....nothing profound.

I am not sold on Ashwagandha at all and feel it is extremely overhyped and utilized....the latest fad in supplements that seems to be on the rise. I am particularly not sold on KSM-66. I can take a 300 mg dose of KSM and feel nothing. On the other hand, I can 150 mg of Sensoril and get a very relaxed affect...so at least I know that one is doing something.

Funny, I know many people who take 500mg Sensoril and they feel no effect from it, while 500mg KSM66 gives them nice sedative effect

Interesting for sure. One thing we do know is that everything tends to hit everyone differently...
I am thinking I probably need an Ashwagandha break in general. I have been on KSM-66 for I don't even know how long because it is in in everything!

Its always great to take a break. So then when you start with it, you can easily feel the difference :)

I'd do an elimination protocol - go back to maintenance (or 100'ish below if worried), and drop *everything* except the usually deficient stuff like D, Potassium, Magnesium and Fish Oil, etc.... Then wait 2 weeks, then start adding one thing back at a time and test for a week or two. May take a while.

Or go to a Doc/Pay out of pocket and get a complete workup done.

KSM-66 just doesn't work for some people, I am one of them. Every time I took it I became dumb (lack of common sense), had a headache, my sleep was actually lighter/more fitful due to the dreams, and easily agitated.

I hear ya. Seems it all kind of started with Bioforge (Sensoril)...which I do still enjoy that product...
Then all of a sudden KSM-66 just exploded..

Not saying OL or Jarrow's (the other brand I used) are reliable or unreliable. Just stating the differences.
