6 Week Fat Loss Challenge

BEAST73 or anyone else who runs.... any experience with rucking?

I have been away from the gym for almost 3 weeks and before I got derailed, I was doing a 6 day HST modification. I am thinking of just starting slow since I do suck at running...filling a backpack with about 40-50 pounds and just trying to do say, 20 minute workouts every day.

Wow, this thread has a life of its own! I feel like I have been gone for so long, I have tried to check up but with work and birthdays and holidays and all kinds of craziness, life has derailed me. I've stopped making choices and reverted to old habits. This thread is going to be a huge motivating factor for getting me back on track. All of you guys are phenomenal!

As hairygrandpa would say, I went full retarded and I got fat. Time to start all over. Geez.

I'm sure it's not as bad as you're letting on. We all know that you are harder on yourself than any of us could ever be. You'll hit it again, and be right back where you need to be!

And I love rucks and backpacking in general. I try to get a week of point to point backpacking in at least twice a year, hitting 16 - 20 miles per day, depending on terrain. Personally, I can't think of a better cardio workout that's easier on the joints than running. But if you haven't done much backpacking or rucks, you might want to start with about half of that weight.

Lol, I don't want to let on how bad it is....I let go...and people love to blame crash dieting for rebounding....I am probably around 190-195 right now...from a low of 165. It should come off fast I would think if I just get back on track. I think plenty of guys here are just as hard on themselves.

This group of guys, including you SFreed - it's really a special group. You guys all deliver the goods. I may talk tough and be hard on myself, but I have to be because you guys are all tough to keep up with. I am just the brunt who has to scrap to keep up.

I can't lift the weights of most of you, I'm not as lean as most of you....

Thanks for the input man! I am thinking it will I crease calorie burn and I can just keep the time down and burn some calories. I will try with 25 pounds. I figure I can wake up and do 20 minutes a day and try to turn it into a habit....I hate cardio but 20-30 minutes in the morning is hard to find an excuse not to do.

Hey brother. This ain't a dick measuring contest. Just get going again, make a plan, start medium, don't like the phrase start slow. Be honest with your schedule and make it a habit.
We are all here for you!
Its a life style not a sprint!
Trust me, doubt any of us are ever satisfied!

Hey, look who finally woke up!! Any stories from the partay??
Just got home from the wedding about 2 hrs. Ago.
I was a bad boy. Had 2 pcs of cake, 1 slice of coconut Cream pie...Grandmas, to die for.
And about 5 glasses of champagne and 2 lb of processed food.
Had a great time!

I love you guys - and it isnt a race or a dick measuring contest. Ultimately, it is me vs. me. That is one of the best things about weight lifting.

It doesn't matter who you are or what your situation is. You may be short, tall, fat, thin, paraplegic, whatever - and you can pick up a weight and become stronger than you were before. It doesn't matter where you've been, or where you are - just that you can go somewhere new and accomplish so much more than you ever thought possible.

One thing I think is worth pointing out...When I got from 290 to 180 the first time, people obviously noticed and would ask, "Do you feel better?" And I didn't know why, but I honestly didn't notice. I thought I just didn't notice and that was that.

When I got to 165, I actually started feeling different...Stromg, able, athletic. It felt good. Now that I've gone nuts and gained some back, I realize just how fat and out of shape I feel.

Maybe I needed to step back to reinforce how much better I felt.

And I find it funny that a man going by the name Studhorse wants to make this NOT a dick measuring contest. What should I think of that?

Lol.
I got this nickname in college. I was setting at the bar and a guy that was bidder than me said hey studhorse I think you are in my seat. I stood up, went to punch this 6'4" smart a$$, missed and punched him in the throat, he fell and hit the bar with his head and knocked him out cold. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good. The guys on the team started calling me studhorse.

Literally love everything you said. Sometimes let you self go a little is a good thing. As you said you are reminded how much better it is to be fit

290 to 165. You have accomplished a hell of a lot more than me!

I think a lot of guys on here is training and dieting for this kind of Condition.

Yeah man that's actually the look I'm going for... you got a diet and training plan for that?

I could just watch the videos you post on your log I guess; however they frighten me slightly

HIT4ME the only fckers in 'Merica that didn't get fat over the holidays were FireTitan and BEAST73

They're freaks though

I'm up to 185. Fck the world man I gotta cut a good 10-15 lbs.

I am so proud of both of them. Go back in this thread and you will see that FireTitan had a rough start, and he didn't give up. He pushed harder and has gone crazy making progress.

My nickname for Firtitan has been fat f#ck. But, as rtmilliburn pointed out...The effort and heart is what counts and I am changing his nickname to Foehammer.
BEAST73 is truly a beast. Nuff said.

290 to 165. You have accomplished a hell of a lot more than me!

I definitely ate a lot more than almost anyone at this board at one point. It was like a full time job. I was totally dedicated to being fat and fatter.

I've been going in the right direction for almost 4 years or so now...It has been a loooong road. And I know that you have accomplished just as much if not more...You have stuck it out and you have built way more muscle than me.

Feeling down on your self is part of it .. so you ate bad gained some weight .. we all have .. I'm being honest with you here .. I still feel fat every single day and have never once liked what I've seen in the mirror we are our hardest critics, but don't let it get you down bro we've all been ther in on way or another. Trust me I know.. just use it as motivation and don't let it stop you ..that's what we are all here for to help and support each other

Well said bit.ch
Dam I love you man!
Actually I love all the street gang!
not in a gay way! Lol

Yeah HIT4ME what you gotta think is that fat loss is now in your wheel house...having lost as much as you've lost, it's not a big deal dropping 20 lbs ya know. Fck it. Your good at cutting now

You got this bro

Oh I use to eat a lot and anything I wanted. For 20 years it was how strong can I get. Got big and fat.
I was 5'9" 245 I was as wide as I was tall.

It's missing a few things but it's good it's less then 5 minutes from my house that's the best part

I miss my gym being 5 minutes from my house....

HIT4ME, just get back on that horse man. Fck it. Shyt happens and you work hard as well. None of us would be getting anywhere if we didn't have some kind of work ethic. So take that work ethic and just get back to work.

Ok let me see if I can help .. knowing exactly where you are coming from .. I was 325 lbs bro .. so trust me I know .
thats incredible! persistence is the hardest part of life. nice job on keeping it off.

I still feel fat every single day and have never once liked what I've seen in the mirror we are our hardest critics,
its the fit life curse. the BDD is real... unfortunately. Some people never feel muscular enough, lean enough etc. I don't think we are ever truly satisfied but, that's life. if we were satisfied, what else would we be working towards? the maintenance dream.....

.I am probably around 190-195 right now...from a low of 165. It should come off fast I would think if I just get back on track. I think plenty of guys here are just as hard on themselves.
you did it once before. this is easy mode for you. you got this :) the great thing about gaining weight that you don't want is it makes for great before and after photos ;) .

like others have mentioned, its about spirit, positivity, being human. no one cares if someone is a bad ass like ronnie coleman or whoever a person may look up to if that person is a big D. The beauty of fitness is you can't buy it, inherit it, fake it. Its earned through hard, persistent, constant effort. Your gains are yours and your progress compared with yourself is all that matters :)

Hey guys, life is slightly less busy and I'm back for a bit. Coming off of a reverse diet at 197 lbs and stim break. Today I start Day 1 of my cat 1 PSMF. I just popped some Caffeine/Alphaburn (8mg) and I'm going to do my depletion workout.

I miss my gym being 5 minutes from my house....

I miss my old gym that was 20min. Away. The last hard core gym in the area. Had to close down a 18mo. Ago.
My new gym is 3blocks away. It is nice that it's close. Just miss the good old smell of iron and the same group of guys helping each other out.
Kind of like AM in a gym.

I don't ever do pump/high volume workouts, so today was brutal. Here's the workout, all machine based:

3x15 Lying Leg Curl, 1 Min Rest In Between

Anyways, it was about a 2 hour workout and I felt like I was gonna hurl after, so I did it right. Now this week will be PSMF and I'll post back on if I failed or not.

Had a good workout today. Probably because I didn't count calories Saturday or yesterday so had some extra energy. Didn't gain any weight though so that's a plus!

195 x 2
195 x 2
195 x 9 (nice!, max ever with that weight was like 12 when I was 225 pounds)
---
Close Grip Paused Bench
135 x 5
140 x 5
145 x 5

I hear you brother and great job!!!! I don't really feel down - I don't get too emotional about it I guess. I mean, maybe it stings a little, but it isn't any secret how I get fat or lean - it's just a matter of doing the work. When I get fat, I gotta do some work and get lean again. You guys on here are all so supportive and I sometimes wonder if I'm coming across like I'm whining or depressed when I'm not - but I do hope that someone else who may read this thread will see that we all have set backs and we get back up and that's that. I think all of the responses from people saying, "Just get back in the fight!" show that the people who are successful at this have that mentality.

And yeah - as far as feeling fat every day - I have certain things that trigger me. Carrying a container of ice cream or little debbies through a grocery store triggers my inner fat kid. "They're all looking at me thinking, no wonder he's so fat."

Yeah HIT4ME what you gotta think is that fat loss is now in your wheel house...having lost as much as you've lost, it's not a big deal dropping 20 lbs ya know. Fck it. Your good at cutting now

You got this bro

You bring up a good point. Oh yeah. I can do this. I expect it will actually be a little fun - since I've not really been holding the 20 pounds too long, I may be able to rebound pretty quickly which may give me a good mental boost.

Oh I use to eat a lot and anything I wanted. For 20 years it was how strong can I get. Got big and fat.
I was 5'9" 245 I was as wide as I was tall.

Brother - at least you were trying to get big and strong - I was just fat. haha. But even at that, you look great now. You have made serious progress.

HIT4ME, just get back on that horse man. Fck it. Shyt happens and you work hard as well. None of us would be getting anywhere if we didn't have some kind of work ethic. So take that work ethic and just get back to work.

Bang. Straight up truth. Just get right back at it.

Yes! 18 pounds in 6 weeks? I have now set myself up nicely for a 30 pound in 6 week run. And some killer photos! I like your style.

And..wait....what's this last part about? Being badass? Are you IMPLYING that I'm not a major bad a$$? hairygrandpa - have you been talking about my pink pocketbook again? Let me just say - it takes a confidant man to wear a pink shirt. It takes a real mutha fkn badas$ to carry a pink man bag. You watch out or I will mace the face.

I feel your pain man. 15 rep workouts kill me. The just crush me. Even if I don't feel like I'm pushing as hard as I should - they exhaust me in ways I can't even explain.

Had a good workout today. Probably because I didn't count calories Saturday or yesterday so had some extra energy. Didn't gain any weight though so that's a plus!

I can imagine that workout pumped your triceps up a ton especially. As far as deadlifts - you'd better come back here and tell us you lifted something heavy man. Something real heavy.

How accurate is the Fitbit calorie counting? I recently received a Fitbit Blaze and the calories it's estimating seem high to me. All of my stats are correct in the app.

How accurate is the Fitbit calorie counting? I recently received a Fitbit Blaze and the calories it's estimating seem high to me. All of my stats are correct in the app.

I got the same Fitbit for my bday in August. I think it is relatively accurate, within 10% maybe? It was a real eye opener to see on work days where I am behind a desk or driving a lot, I have days where I burn as few as 2000 calories a day.

Everyone seems to say it is accurate, but at the very least it is consistent and the data will teach you a lot about your habits.

Not at all brother.. was just trying to let you know that your not alone or the only one dealing with the same things.. !

I am so glad I took a two week full stim break before this PSMF. 200mg Caffeine + Alphaburn (8mg version) is hitting me hard and suppressing my appetite. This PSMF seems like it will be a breeze.

Have anyone every tried 10 mins of Cardio before, and after Weight training 3 times a week?

Not what I would call cardio, just get a little sweat going. more like warming up this old beat-up body.
I do some stair climbers before I start legs.
and a little incline treadmill fast walking before my workout. the ankles don't have any cartilage left. I cant run with out impact pain.
