My son is 18 years old. He's thin probably around 8% body fat maybe even 7. He has puffy nipples and the appearance of slight puberty gyno. He just started working out and has never taken anything not even creatine.
I know It bothers him. I know he is uncomfotable about taking his shirt off.
The doctor says it is common and looks like it will clear up as he ages.
I'm sure it will. Most cases do. He is lean and no medications.
BUT now is the problem.
Can I give him inhibit e or eradicate?
I promised he could start creatine and bcaa and protein for Christmas.
Can otc estrogen controll be safe for him?

Honestly the chances of it clearing up are slim because it's pubertal and even slimmer if there's an actual mass below it. Best thing I've read so far for getting rid of pubertal gyno is Ralox, much more effective then other things but it's still not 100%.

If it's getting worse and he has sore nipples and stuff then nolva and an AI will work pretty well on stopping any growth and possibly even reversing it, but once a mass forms it's pretty difficult to remove without surgery.

Yeah I don't see the harm in giving an OTC AI a try. However when he's older he should give Raloxifene/Exemestane a try.

Its not getting worse. No hard limp
Puffy nipples making a pointy appearance.
Pseudo gyno might be a better term

No rebound possible from otc stuff?
What about ralox sides if any?
Ralox is pretty strong stuff, if there's no lump then have him run some nolva and an AI for a bit and see if that helps out. Nolva helped my gyno out a bit even tho it's hardened. Gonna run ralox here soon to get rid of it.

Most of this doesn't have sides but if your worried have him run an AI for a week or two after the nolva/ralox. Only thing that really causes rebound is letrozol.

is your son done growing??
I would not give him any anti estrogens of any kind until hes fully grown.
however... you could give him chaste berry and a high dose of curcumin daily to get things under control

I really don't want to come off as an a-hole, but what you rather leave your son's health in the hands of his medical doctor or leave it up to the guys on this forum recommending him prescription drugs? I don't know about OTC stuff, but I wouldn't give him any prescription stuff without his doctor writing it for him.

Docs don't do **** for this man. This is coming from someone who's had really bad gyno for years.

ok but back to what I said... is he done growing? at 18 probably not.
At 18 he's quite possibly getting close to the end actually. Most guys stop growing at 18 or 19 and a small few have another small growth spirt around 20 or 21 I actually shrank when I hit 21 lol I'm down like half an inch now.

Sent you a PM. High level, while SERMs work better for gyno, if growth plates aren't fully closed dollars to donuts they will be (remember the "s" in SERM is select. They are highly estrogenic in bone). Theoretically, and AI would be "safer" from a growth plate standpoint albeit less effective for gyno. And you, my friend are all aware of AI sides I'm sure.

Very unfair generalization. I'm sure there are doctors that are specialists in gynecomastia. I would at least recommend the OP seek a consult with one before jumping to drugs too quickly. A gyno surgeon can maybe take a look and diagnose the severity of it and tell you whether it may go away or not. Just my thoughts, but I would urge you to seek a second opinion from a medical professional.

I went to 4 doctors, they all said it would go away with time. Most of the time you can't even go see specialist without a referral that you get from normal doctors. For example, surgeons almost always need referrals, they are expensive and they don't want their time wasted. It may not be like this in other countries but this is the American health care system for you. Also gyno surgery is out of pocket almost all the time because it's cosmetic...

I don't know what to say man. 18 is young, hormones are going crazy right now. And he only has "slight" gyno? I just feel like there should be some precautions first. Maybe get blood work and check to see if there is an imbalance in his hormones. If they found something maybe the doctor could prescribe something right then that might correct it. Honestly, I don't have an answer though.

+1 for the blood work, never would hurt to know for sure but an AI should help a lot in keeping it from getting worse

You're not coming off as an *******!

OP - Do not manipulation your 18 yo son hormones with OTC products.

Continue to follow your doctors advice and or see an endocrinologist. A bone age test and growth plate test prescribed by an endocrinologists would be the very least I would do before even considering hormones supervised by a professional. I strongly recommend you seek and/or continue to follow the advice of a professional health care provider.
