High blood pressure

When they tested me initially I was 185/150 and never felt anything from it. Been on meds for several years. It sucks, but long term not taking the chance of dying early. Follow what your doctors prescribing. No supps going to do the same.

I used to be prescribed inderol for my HBP. After about 5 years. I stopped taking it because I really dislike taking prescription meds. I've been using CoQ10 since, and I really notice a difference. It might be worth a shot. I think anywhere from 200mg to 300mg a day is all ya need.

-nol or -none?

185/150? Damn man. Glad it's under control now. Mine was never that high. I was like 160/120. You're advice is obviously the better option.

Mine was 191/100 this morning. Guess I'm not tapering off the bisoprolol yet.

Scary thing is I never noticed it as an issue.

This
Add polycasanol /probably spelled wrong
And some other herbs.
Honestly, if you need BP meds then you should find out the cause not treat the symptoms with meds that have sides.

lol bro, more than 50% of hypertensive cases are idiopathic in nature. Good luck finding the "cause."

If that is the case. What are thoughts on Nattokinase?

Slightly elevated here. Pre hyper tense. NK hasn't done much but some over 3 weeks. Low dosing but am considering upping the dose for a week or two.

Not on blood thinners so if you are pay attention to the link.

How did you guys find out it was high? Normal doctor visit or something?

I take my own blood pressure. Wireless connected to iPhone.

They cost $75

Some people are just predisposed to higher bp. Sometimes there is no cause.

This goes for most here. If you are having high bp and meds somewhat work with no cause indicated. Workout and not over weight. Time to get a sleep study don't for sleep apnea. Can lead to hard to control bp. Just a though esp for those complaining none of the supps help. Or needing several meds for some effects.

Anyone else using ubiquinol consistently?

I use regular COQ10 daily - but the highest my BP got, was when I was 285lbs at ~160/85, so I can't credit any supps for keeping it at ~115/65 now - just CARDIO :D

Oh, and unless genetically pre-diposed - Salt has little/nothing to do with high BP - I dose 30g (25% Salt) of Bicarb a day, on top of about 4g from food and am at 115/65.

Salt makes my BP jump quite a bit. 2 garbage meals in a row of pizza/wings/etc spikes it 30 points systolic.

Apple cider vinegar and hawthorn berry start 2 weeks before cycle always works wonders for me! And relatively cheap

I have been holding off on saying this. Salt, in study after study, shows little effect on all but a VERY small percentage of the population. The AHA recommends limiting salt to reduce blood pressure, as this is what the current head of the AHA wants, but even her predecessor thinks it is bad advice and potentially harmful to limit salt intake at the AHA recommended guidelines. Salt gets blamed for bloating and blood pressure, but a normal functioning body that isn't depleted of sodium does not have these issues. I personally think carbs cause far more bloat than salt. I mean, I have put 3 bouillion cubes in water to make a broth while on a fast and even drinking over 3.5 grams of salt in a single sitting doesn't cause any issues for me.

This may not be a function of salt as much as just the fact that you've had a larger than normal food intake. Most people aren't aware of the fact that, after a large meal, your chance of having a heart attack is 50% higher than normal. Eating a lot of food WILL have an immediate impact on blood pressure, water retention (again, especially from carbs), etc.

Sleep apnea does contribute, but not always the cause. I know many people with apnea and bp is fine. I have both but that's me.

It reminds me of the people worried about dietary cholesterol from eggs

Just so you can see I learn, even if it is slow, you are the one teaching me about study flaws vs. reality - but I think a lot of bad nutritional beliefs have come from (in this case) a very logical theory that simply doesn't prove to be true when tested or, even worse, a data-driven study where people make connections that they want to see. I.e. - people in the Mediterranean have lower rates of heart disease...it must be the olive oil! Well, that or a million other factors.

And of course in the cholesterol and salt theories, only the basic processes are accounted for. Vasopressin response and other factors are overlooked in salt/HPB theories, and the complex metabolism of cholesterol is over simplified in the diet/cholesterol link.

You are right but if you have high bp and sleep apnea and the apnea is not treated and meds have trouble addressing it, addressing the sleep apnea usually takes care of it. Just sharing for some in here it's worth looking into.

I use a Cpap as mine is severe. My pulse oxygen goes around 10 above death during sleep. Even with the machine my bp has not changed. From young mine has always been really high. Cardiologist says some just run like that.

Mine would drop to about 80.. I'd probably be dead now without my CPAP
